High School of Demon Hunting

Chapter 1610: Chapter 354: When the Black Moon Rises

If the chime from the First University Museum on the night of June 5th was like a small pebble falling into a calm, deep lake, stirring layers of ripples.

Then, on the morning of June 6th, the twisted black moon over Lin Zhong Lake at Jiuyou Academy was like a boulder dropping into a shallow pond, causing the entire Buji Island and the whole Wizard World to shudder.

When the golden yellow net above the First University slowly dissolved and a pitch-black moon rose slowly in the morning sun, in the hall on the second floor of Gini Cottage located in the North District of Beta Town, Korma suddenly stood up, her eyes penetrating through multiple barriers, showing a hint of unmistakable shock.

Behind the long tables on both sides of the hall, there were still more than ten elite Northern District Wizards seated. At this moment, these captains of the Northern District Wizards’ patrol team were bowing their heads, listening to the Great Sage’s arrangements to address this black tide.

Korma’s movement was exceptionally striking, and her massive magic power stirred around her without any concealment, seemingly bringing the originally distant distance much closer, making her figure appear even taller.

The flames on the suspended candles hanging from the ceiling of the hall swayed and trembled in unison, emitting crackling sounds; the drapes hanging on either side flared up with no wind in the silent room, sounding like fluttering flags.

The dozen captains simultaneously held their breath, feeling as if a wild and fierce beast was slowly emerging from the darkness, gazing upon them with indifferent eyes.

Even the Northern District Wizards, who lacked magical knowledge, had heard of this state — it is the manifestation when a wizard’s cognition is greatly shocked, momentarily unable to restrain their aura of magic.

Because of this, some keen wizards had already sensed something through intuition: on this island, only events occurring at the First University could cause a Great Wizard to lose composure to such an extent.

Katherine was Korma’s first bestowed Northern District Wizard, seated closest to Korma, and only she dared to speak at this time:

”Great Sage, has something happened at the school?”

Korma’s powerful aura of magic slowly retracted, but her gaze still penetrated those barriers, falling in the direction of the academy by Lin Zhong Lake.

”Perhaps,” after uttering these three words, a glint suddenly flashed in the witch’s mind, a prophecy heard long ago when participating in the Quankela Fair with Zheng Qing before an old Fishman Diviner. Yagneg’s divination reverberated in her mind, making her unconsciously recite it quietly:

”...The river dries under starlight, the forest burns under moonlight, evil shadows roam freely, thunderous sounds echo above the lake, shattering the white tower! The whole world trembles!”

Korma remembered clearly, that old fishman belonged to a wandering tribe, his totem naturally wasn’t a particularly great deity.

For the results of such ’traditional divination,’ she, like many wizards, initially did not fully believe it. But looking at it today, many things in this prophecy were worth pondering.

The Northern District Wizards below were unaware it was a prophecy, only assuming Her Excellency the Great Sage was hinting at something obscurely, leading everyone to contemplate silently, plunging the entire hall into inexplicable quiet.

Thankfully, Korma quickly realized this.

With a bitter smile inside, she slowly sat back in her black high-back chair, contemplating for a moment, revised orders were issued anew:

”Order all patrol teams stranded at the edge of the Silent Forest to retreat... build a new defensive line after retreating to the Silent River, and contract the alert range.”

”Without permission, no magical creature may enter the defensive line area. Including but not limited to the Horseman Tribe, Feather people Tribe, Fishman Tribe with a mutual aid agreement with Beta Town, and mountain giants, Ninfus Elves signing a contract with Beta Town merchants.”

”Deploy Beta Town Chamber of Commerce guards to the North District port to assist in defending the coming black tide.”

”Notice, Beta Town closed market today, all shops shall not open. Meanwhile, enlist capable shop owners and merchants as volunteers to participate in this guardianship task.”

”The above orders are authorized by the First University Guardian of Beta Town, Korma, seal!”

...

...

”Hurry, faster!”

”Joyce, Mei, you inform shops number ninety-two to ninety-five!”

”Wesley, you and Paul notify shops number ninety-six to ninety-eight!”

”The requirement remains the same, for closed shops, push the notification into the door gap! If there are shop assistants or owners inside, slap the Great Sage’s recruitment order on their faces!”

”Speed it up, we’ve wasted too much time on Pedestrian Street!”

Outside the door on the street, noisy shouting along with a series of chaotic footsteps, making a racket, disturbing the cat’s dream. The Yellow Flowered Cat lying curled on the window ledge of San You Bookstore pulled its ears down, trying to block out the increasingly close clamor.

But it was quite difficult.

”Can’t sleep anymore! Won’t let the cat sleep at all! Day by day, only knowing how to pinch small fish-dried, ordering the cat to do this and that, in such cases sending people off, the cat needs to take action by itself!”

”Utterly inhumane!”

The Yellow Flowered Cat buried its head under both front paws, muttering incessantly, complaining without end: ”Totally heartless!”

”Bang bang bang!”

From the outside came vigorous knocking, along with a young warlock’s urgent shout: ”Anybody home? Number ninety-nine got anyone? San You Bookstore, is the San You Bookstore owner here? Mimi, Mimi, is your master around?”

Yellow Flowered Cat could no longer pretend to sleep, angrily raising its head, gazing at the little wizard outside the glass window, revealing a mouth full of sharp teeth menacingly. Yet, at first glance, instead of seeing that male wizard knock on the window, what it noticed initially was the frog held in his hand.

The poor amphibious animal was squeezed by the neck, gripped in his palm, its bright red tongue sticking out quite long, its two eyeballs bulged, seemingly about to perish at any moment.

For some unknown reason, Yellow Flowered Cat’s inner rage suddenly subsided considerably.

It let out a heavy sigh, slowly turned its body away, aiming its rear at that young Northern District Wizard outside, swinging its tail loosely, creating a beautiful tail shadow.

The warlock’s eyes revealed a hint of bewilderment, then nodded: ”Ah, it’s just a stray cat... has this shop already closed down? No wonder the sign looks a bit dusty.”

Saying this, he stuffed the frog in his hand back into his waist pouch, hurriedly ran to the next shop. It’s said the Wandering Bar diagonally across housed many resident wizards, perhaps able to recruit more volunteers for the Great Sage.

Disturbers departed.

Yet Yellow Flowered Cat didn’t intend to lightly let go.

It turned to look into the depths of the bookstore, took a deep breath, its tiny chest seeming to expand several circles due to this breath, resembling a well-muscled bodybuilder, also like a cobra raising its head.
