High School of Demon Hunting

Chapter 1630: Chapter 374 The Reason I Came

When the Black Cat and Zheng Qing were discussing the distant Black Mountain Goat.

Nicolas’s familiar was also looking gloomily at the Blue Fish, the Black Big Cat, the gray-white demon resembling a shedding mouse, and the oppressive world around.

Although it isn’t human.

But because it’s a follower of the Elder Gods, it can sense the shackles this world imposes on prisoners better than an ordinary wizard, as well as the malice it holds towards outsiders.

The Black Mountain Goat cub does not belong in the Black Prison.

Because it is too barren here, lacking the offerings that the Mother Goat of the Forest, who bears countless offspring, desires, nor are there lambs to worship the Mother Deity. Even just existing in this dark world consumes a lot of the Mother’s glory.

Furthermore, it’s said the prisoners here are not afraid to slaughter the followers of the past as food reserves for enduring the long night. It’s important to know that the blood and flesh of the lambs belong to their master, and what those prisoners do is akin to sacrilege.

But today.

It broke through the barrier of the world, following that streak of white to fall into the Black Prison.

For it, this was a great adventure, and also a necessary attempt. Because outside of the Black Moon, a mysterious and powerful hunting team is chasing after it; inside the Black Moon, it can scent a familiar presence.

Every strand of flame burning on it reminds it that the presence belongs to the Mother Deity; but every thought in its mind reminds it that the presence no longer belongs to the Mother.

This clear contradiction forces the Black Mountain Goat cub to escape into the Black Prison.

If the presence belonged to the Mother Deity, then it could choose to join forces with it to jointly confront the mysterious hunting team pursuing it; if the presence had defiled the divine spirit, as a follower, it could not feign ignorance, and must fully uphold the Mother’s glory.

Thus, it followed the Flowing Fire in July to land on that small hill.

Then, it climbed out of the deep pit.

It saw the prisoners around it, grotesque and ugly in form.

Before this, if someone said the followers of the Elder Gods were allies with demons, the Black Mountain Goat cub could reluctantly agree with this statement—because wizards were their common enemy—now it seems this understanding must have a premise.

The premise is that these demons must be those outside the Black Prison.

To consider the demons inside the Black Prison as allies, in the eyes of the Black Mountain Goat cub, was akin to defilement of the Mother’s glory. It would rather choose to eat a dozen goblins rolling through the mud than acknowledge these creatures have any relation to the Mother Deity.

Filthy, ugly, weak.

It could easily capture every faint magical fluctuation in their barren brains.

For example, the Snake Demon was full of greedy thoughts, always thinking of snatching a couple of steaming rocks to fill its starving belly when it wasn’t paying attention.

Then there’s the Cow Demon; beneath the cover of angry emotions lies the weak essence of a herbivore. It dared to bet that if it took one step forward, the Cow Demon would show its belly like a pet cat, perhaps even obediently purring.

And the Wolf Demon, with a flickering gaze and thoughts jumping fast in its mind; one moment pondering whether to wag its tail while licking its toes, the next considering teaming up with the distant Black Cat to ambush it.

However, to its anger and helplessness, besides these lousy choices, it could not find any better allies. The Blue Fish had already followed closely behind, breaking into this world; along with it entered a Black Cat and two little bugs whose depths it could not fathom.

And the trace of the Mother’s presence it sensed outside of the Black Moon disappeared without a trace the moment it fell into the Black Prison World, seemingly enticing sweet bait spun from Big Mouth Gulu, but it could be sure the owner of that presence was hidden in some corner beneath the night.

”Shub-Niggurath!!”

The Black Mountain Goat cub raised its head and let out an anxious roar, tearing through the night with the true name of the Mother Deity, breaking the dead silence of the Black Prison.

In the distance, there was a faint echo of feedback to the Mother’s true name. It was like a magnet drawing the gaze of the Black Mountain Goat cub firmly towards it.

Even a new stream of light falling from that streak of white couldn’t divert its attention.

”Eh?”

The Black Cat, who was listening to the Old Witch Demon boast and smiling with narrowed eyes, suddenly opened its eyes, looking towards the stream of light with confusion: ”What is this little girl doing here?”

Zheng Qing followed its gaze upwards.

Besides the round moon like a silver plate under the clouds and a fine stream of light as thin as an ox hair, he couldn’t see any shadow of the ’little girl’.

”Meow!”

The Black Cat opened its mouth, spitting out a bright red.

It seemed like a frog’s tongue, a venomous snake’s signature, and also like a flipping red silk, a river of gathered blood. The young cost student could clearly see the shadows rolling like waves over the vivid red.

Although the color was different, Zheng Qing inexplicably recalled the time he first fell from the plane, when Professor Charles was responsible for welcoming the freshmen, using silvery bands to safely let them down.

The ribbon of red from the Black Cat’s mouth wrapped around the stream of light that had just descended.

With a pull and a tug.

The bright red disappeared back into the Black Cat’s mouth.

The figure within the stream of light safely landed, appearing before the warlock’s eyes.

Zheng Qing couldn’t help but rub his eyes.

”What are you doing here?!” He looked in shock at the familiar witch in front of him, countless thoughts swirling in his mind instantly.

Jiang Yu shook her woozy head, still unclear about what happened, she reflexively responded to the warlock in front of her: ”If you can be here, why can’t I?”

”It’s not...”

Zheng Qing wanted to say that’s not the point, but before he could sort out his thoughts, a blurred little head peeked from behind the witch, sticking its tongue out at him: ”And me!”

Jiang Yu looked down at Zhu Si, then looked up at Zheng Qing.

”This,” she placed her hand on the little witch’s head and deeply sighed: ”This truly is an accident.”

An accident can bring surprises or scares.

At this moment, Zheng Qing could only feel the scare.

”This isn’t a place you should be.” He was somewhat angry, waving his arms, pointing at the endless darkness beyond the moonlight, the fierce Black Mountain Goat cub under the moon, and the faintly appearing crimson gazes around, slightly raising his voice: ”This is the Black Prison!”

”I know.” The witch had already calmed down again.

”This I didn’t know!” Zhu Si’s head peeked again from behind the witch, speaking quietly.

”Knowing that you shouldn’t be here!” The warlock’s temper was flaring as he glared fiercely at the little witch, scaring her to hide back behind Jiang Yu.

”But I worry about you.” The witch raised her hand, gently lifting the strands of hair hanging by her ear and calmly replied.

With just a simple sentence, she blocked out the other ninety-nine reasons Zheng Qing had prepared for why she shouldn’t have come.

The Black Cat sat by watching the scene with excitement on its face.
