High School of Demon Hunting

Chapter 1627: Chapter 371: The Bright Moon Rises

Eris is not a demon but an ancient god of a certain world. Due to various accidents, she was captured by wizards and thrown into this sunless Black Prison, with most of her essence worn away.

This cooperation with the demons was originally not by choice. Now, seeing the major event unfold, the outside of the Black Prison remains dead silent, with no sign of reinforcements arriving, inevitably causing some anxiety.

Compared to her, Shallow Jin Ryoko, as a demon, appeared much more confident.

”So close... you’ve already caught a whiff of that enticing aura from the Black Prison Castle, haven’t you?” The dark lips on the fleshy tentacle curled slightly, revealing a meaningful smile: ”As long as the Xuanhuang Fruit is here, the fog will surely come.”

The jade-colored spider person stood up, using its slender hind legs to support its large body, a beautiful face appeared on its spider back, turning towards where the castle was, the cherry lips slightly parted, and a faint long inhalation sound came from the air.

After a moment, Eris sighed deeply: ”Indeed... such a treasure. Just by smelling its scent from afar, I feel my essence has solidified quite a bit.”

”That’s an illusion, haha.” Sujade turned to look at the jade-colored spider, two red glows flickering at the bottom of his eye sockets, snapping his jawbone as he said in a low voice: ”It’s like how people who’ve lost limbs occasionally feel their limbs are still there, haha, the scent of the Xuanhuang Fruit just stirs a possibility... If you want to replenish your lost essence, you must obtain a complete fruit.”

The jade-colored spider put down its six limbs and lay back on the skull’s top again.

The beautiful face on its back also vanished again.

”Don’t worry,” a soft laugh came from the night, and Eris seemed to have guessed the thoughts of the great wizard demon: ”Not just for the Xuanhuang Fruit... just to leave this dark prison, I will give my all.”

The darkness fell silent once more.

Until a touch of red glow appeared beneath the white rainbow.

Shallow Jin Ryoko’s voice rose again in the silence: ”That white rainbow has hung in the sky for quite a while, and now there’s a red glow too... Such a big commotion, do the wizards in the Black Prison really not care?”

”Perhaps that figure was actually invited by the wizards as assistance.” Eris sneered as if recalling some bad memories.

”Not assistance,” Sujade replied dryly while raising his arm, pointing to a certain tower of the Black Prison Castle: ”They also care.”

That was a tower on the right side of the castle.

As the great wizard demon pointed, a cold gleam was rising slowly from that tower, seemingly slow but actually fast, in just a moment penetrating several layers of protective barriers, passing over clusters of star-sea-like sky lanterns, and rising to the dark cloud layer above.

Then that cold gleam paused for a moment, suddenly turning around, making an almost ninety-degree turn, transforming into a stream of light until it reached the direction of the red glow and the white rainbow.

The great demons could clearly discern that the cold gleam contained the aura of five wizards.

At the same time, the great wizards who had been sitting guarding outside the fortress suddenly made a move, their consciousness firmly locking onto where the great demons were. In the midst of earth fire and heavenly light, there was suddenly the sound of zither, like breaking a silver bottle, clashing swords and spears, rolling sound waves pressing towards the demons; there was also a flying sword, carrying a tinge of green light, shuttling everywhere, and any figure attempting to fly up to intercept that cold gleam would be pierced by a sword; there were also a scorpion whipping its tail, a giant ape leaping up, and a green snake hissing.

”Whoa,” atop the skull, the jade green spider tapped its slender spider legs, with a hint of amazement in its voice: ”Actually sent five great wizards to watch us... those five little ones sure do have face!”

Indeed, to be under the attention of four great demons and five great wizards, they have some significant face.

”A complete hunting team composition,” Shallow Jin Ryoko then sighed softly: ”Indeed, this inevitably is the wizards’ home ground, they have enough manpower to cover all aspects.”

He didn’t bother to capture the aura of that cold gleam, just as Sujade didn’t waste energy commanding the ’Eye of Sauron’ to focus on the direction that cold gleam went.

In front of the Black Prison Castle.

Several hundred thick pillars had been set up, with black intent rolling around the Eye of Sauron, emanating a captivating aura, several hundred large eyeballs tightly closed, slowly turning, aiming at the castle lying quietly at the center of the world.

From the darkness came a few suppressed roars.

The Eye of Sauron opened in unison, a flicker of orange-red flashing deep within those eyes, several hundred rays of red light shot out in unison, aimed at the Black Prison Castle.

Ripples spread through the void, blocking the progress of those red beams.

Magic power’s agitated aura permeated the air.

This agitation spread from the Black Prison Castle in all directions, quickly reaching the entire Black Prison World.

...

...

A large blue fish descended through the white rainbow from the sky, coincidentally sensing this distant agitation.

Like a plane encountering a strange crosswind when landing.

This agitation startled Spirit Sorcerer Wheat Winter who controlled the large blue fish, causing the Little Witch’s tightly shut eyelids to twitch briskly, as if experiencing a nightmare.

In her nightmare, the large fish swayed east and west, eventually plummeting from the sky, landing between Zheng Qing and the black mountain goat.

”The moon emerges bright and clear, washing its light!”

A loud spell echoed through the darkness, immediately a clear full moon fell from the thick clouds at the horizon, instantly dispelling the darkness within tens of miles.

This was a large-scale illumination spell, compared to it, Zheng Qing’s previous ’Other Moon Micro’ that illuminated over a hundred meters seemed insignificant like a candle flame.

Under the light of this spell, Zheng Qing finally clearly understood the environment he was in for the first time.

This place seemed to have once been an open estuary, with two low mountain ranges opening in an eight-shaped manner, covered with strange stones and twisted wood, and some traces left by water erosion remaining below.

On the dried-up estuarine plain, large and small gray-white stones were scattered, showing their smooth shapes in the moonlight. At the end of the plain, there were several small hills, seemingly formed by silt deposits over time.

The small hill that the black mountain goat kid crushed was one of these.

And now, between that still glowing red small hill and Zheng Qing, in the wide valley, a light blue large fish had appeared, slantwise embedded into the gray sandy ground, its large fins twitching spasmodically, with its broad fish tail hanging in mid-air, seemingly having broken some bones during descent, occasionally jerking.

If the large fish could make a sound, Zheng Qing was sure its scream would echo far and wide in this dark prison.

Undoubtedly, this was a tragic landing.

”Is that... a fish?” the Tiger Demon exclaimed quietly, and Zheng Qing vaguely heard the sound of drool dripping, making him turn his head slightly in surprise—had the Tiger Demon not been scared away by the full moon overhead?

”No,” from the other side came the deep voice of the old Witch Demon: ”That’s not a fish.”

Then he noticed the Warlock’s surprised look.

”It’s the spirit beast shell summoned by a spirit-invoking sorcerer,” the old Witch Demon quickly explained: ”The belly of that fish surely contains an entire wizard hunting team... later, we just need to behave obediently, and they won’t bother us... after all, we’re already locked in the Black Prison.”

”I thought when that moon rose, you’d all run away.” Zheng Qing remained noncommittal to the old Witch Demon’s words.

”Escape?” the old Witch Demon let out a short, sharp laugh, extended his withered arm, pointing all around: ”With such a wide-range illumination spell, where could we escape?!”
