Chapter 1622: Modified: Chapter 366 World of Corpse Transformation

Zheng Qing clearly remembered that when Jiang Yu used the spell ’Other Moon Micro,’ she instantly summoned a large number of mushroom creatures. Those little creatures wandered along the empty streets, spitting out clusters of golden sunlight.

Today, he struggled to summon a few dozen mushroom creatures.

Moreover, the mushroom creatures he summoned didn’t emit clusters of golden sunlight but instead exuded pale white light clusters resembling moonlight.

Perhaps this is due to the different world laws, which resulted in discrepancies in the magic effects.

The Warlock mused inwardly, continuing to channel the magic power within him to summon more mushroom creatures to appear—due to the leak of a forbidden curse, he had an excess of magic power with nowhere to store it, so now was a perfect time to release it.

A cluster of moonlight could illuminate an area within a meter’s radius. Hundreds of clusters of moonlight connected to each other, instantly tearing open a large portion of the night-shrouded world, allowing Zheng Qing to clearly see the true face of the Black Prison World for the first time.

Compared to the outside world, Zheng Qing’s first impression of the Black Prison was ’gray.’

On the dim gray earth, silver-gray stones were scattered everywhere, small like beans, large like millstones; in the distance, there lay blue-gray mountains, vague beyond the light; nearby stood a few twisted trees, looking long dead, their branches showing a dead gray-white in the moonlight.

The second impression was ’deathly stillness.’

A desolate world, without a trace of green; between the stones and withered trees lay many nearly petrified bones, and those not petrified had turned gray-yellow, death permeating; as far as the eye could see, aside from a few ’lanterns’ not far away, there was utter silence, which made people clearly feel that this was a world on the brink of death.

No wonder the Wizards transformed this place into a prison for Demons.

Zheng Qing sighed quietly in his heart.

When he looked again, this time, he finally saw clearly the appearance of the Demons trying to scavenge around.

They moved on all fours, having similar builds, skinny and bony, their pale skin tightly stretched over their ribs, revealing sunken abdomens, with barely any threads on their bodies.

Judging by the shape of their skulls, Zheng Qing could barely discern among them Wizards, Tigers, Wolves, Mice, Bulls, and snakes, but it made no difference—they seemed like a pack of mutated wild wolves, with similar fangs, glaring with scarlet eyes, simultaneously wary and protective of those around them.

They had forgotten their former identities in hardship and tribulation, forcibly transformed by the desolation of the Black Prison into almost the same kind of creature: a being between the undead and the living, yet retaining the characteristics of Demons.

For some reason, looking at these loathsome yet pitiable figures, Zheng Qing involuntarily remembered a movie called ”The Lord of the Rings” he watched as a child, where the Ring Bearer, who was once a Hobbit, was enticed by the One Ring and ultimately became a monster called ’Gollum.’

What difference did those hideous creatures in front of him have from Gollum?

While Zheng Qing was observing those Demons, those Demons also noticed the clusters of pale moonlight around them and saw the scene of the night being torn apart.

The sudden bright light terrified those Demons; they screamed and fled in panic, retreating beyond the range of the moonlight in no time, dressing their skeletal and grotesque bodies in the ’black coat’ woven by the night again.

”You Witch Demon!”

That leader, a Demon with a fierce tiger head, paced anxiously in the darkness, lowly growling: ”What are you doing?! Put out the light quickly, you reckless Witch Demon!”

Zheng Qing had a pair of crimson eyes, emanated the aura of Demons all over, and was dressed like a Wizard, holding a Law book, looking like a Witch Demon to anyone.

No wonder the Tiger Demon addressed him as such.

”This is the Black Prison!”

In the darkness, another Witch Demon with an aged face bravely poked half its head out, boldly warning from the junction of moonlight and night: ”Quickly withdraw your spell!”

Zheng Qing ignored the Tiger Demon’s low roar and the old Witch Demon’s warning but glanced around calmly.

There was a dead Demon beneath him, seemingly a Wolf Demon. When Zheng Qing descended from the sky and landed on it, he had broken its slender back.

At the time, this Wolf Demon appeared to be gnawing on a bloody corpse, its entire head burrowed into the body’s chest cavity. When Zheng Qing descended, the force was a bit much, causing the Wolf Demon’s head to crash heavily onto a bone spur growing from the corpse’s spine. The sharp upward-curved bone spur pierced its chin and stabbed through to its brain, spilling blood and brains everywhere.

The Wolf Demon barely struggled effectively before perishing.

Knowing he hadn’t smashed its head, Zheng Qing inexplicably felt much more at ease, secretly letting out a sigh of relief in his heart.

Only then did he lift his head, looking at the Demons hiding beyond the moonlight’s coverage, curiously asking, ”Why do you want me to withdraw this spell?”

Two voices echoed in the darkness simultaneously:

”The light will attract those powerful monsters!”

”Don’t waste precious magic power!”

The first answer came from the Tiger Demon, and the second from the Old Witch Demon.

The Old Witch Demon tilted its head and glanced at the Tiger Demon, reminding: ”Now, aside from us half-dead cripples, where are there any powerful monsters... Any slightly strong prisoners were taken away by those big shots to attack the Black Prison Castle.”

Upon hearing the words ’Black Prison Castle,’ a slight commotion arose among the Demons. The Tiger Demon also dropped its head, muttering a curse, not arguing, evidently acknowledging the Old Witch Demon’s words.

Zheng Qing was very interested in the ’big shots’ and the ’Black Prison Castle’ mentioned by the Old Witch Demon, but he also knew now was not the time to ask those questions.

Before he could speak, the Old Witch Demon turned and looked at the Young Wizard again: ”You just arrived at the Black Prison, and your lessons haven’t been harsh... Close your eyes and carefully sense your surroundings.”

Zheng Qing naturally wouldn’t obediently close his eyes just because of the old man’s one sentence, but he did spare some attention, cautiously feeling the pulse of this world.

After a moment, a flash of surprise flickered in the Warlock’s eyes.

Initially, at first glance at the Black Prison’s appearance, Zheng Qing felt this world was dead silent, but on closer reflection, he discovered how could this world merely be dead, it was about to ’corpse transform’—he didn’t know if it was appropriate to use the term ’corpse transform’ for a world, but it felt like this world was like those corpses that couldn’t rest in peace, struggling, squeezing out any potential vitality ’within.’

And among all the ’vitality,’ the strongest and the most likely force to pull this world back from the brink of the Ruins was the magic power.

The magic power with incredible might, turning decay into wonder.
