High School of Demon Hunting

Chapter 1617: Chapter 361: White Rainbow Across the Sky

”In the Black Prison, there shouldn’t be just these few big names. As far as I know, there are still many followers and incarnations of the Elder Gods imprisoned, but none have shown themselves.”

Hilda clenched her fists and took the lead in speaking, trying to contend for that precious Anti-evil charm: ”...As the saying goes, ’The mantis stalks the cicada, unaware of the oriole behind,’ no one knows how many demons and ghosts are hidden under the light of the heavenly lamp and the Hell’s Fire.”

Professor Yao nodded slightly.

”Naturally, there are orioles. Such birds are never in short supply.” He didn’t deny Hilda’s assumption, but nor did he totally affirm the young assistant’s speculation: ”It is just very difficult to find the right moment to strike before the mantis devours the cicada... Everyone knows that birds are blind at night, and there’s never a shortage of night in the Black Prison.”

A light laugh echoed between the towers, somewhat flattering.

Everyone seemed to find Old Yao’s analogy amusing.

Hilda sighed slightly, knowing that her words failed to hit Old Yao’s itch, and honestly withdrew.

”I believe the prisoner army is riddled with internal conflicts,”

Another young wizard seized the opportunity to speak, daringly adding: ”The number of prisoners in the Black Prison is ultimately limited, fewer than us, but they dare to boldly attack on all fronts without choosing a main offensive direction... Other than internal entanglement, mutual apprehension, and inability to unite on opinions, I can’t think of any other possible reasons.”

”While the Academy adopts a ’calm as the mountain in wind and rain’ strategy, holding steady like an angler, letting them attack from all sides while remaining unmoved, it is a very experienced response...”

Before Professor Yao could speak, another deputy dean of the Jiuyou Academy smiled and interrupted: ”Though your words are correct, the dean asked you to critique the deployment of those prisoners, your analysis of the school’s countermeasures is missing the point... Marks will be deducted, marks will be deducted.”

The young wizard immediately showed a disheartened expression and withdrew.

For a moment, no one spoke in the tower, it was silent. After a good while, Zhang Yu, acting leader of the assistant team, stepped forward and said in a low voice:

”Great Witchcraft Sujade specializes in commanding ghouls and skeletons; Sky Spider Eris has the God-given ability to control, with many prisoners under the control of her threads; Resentful Shen Jiliangzi is even born of a parasitic type demon, who knows how many avatars she has parasitized in the Black Prison, and where her true form is hiding among the army right now.”

At this point, Zhang Yu slightly furrowed his brow, glanced at the giant beast that was like a mountain in the east, his slightly greying hair fluttered in the cold wind, his voice as gentle as ever:

”...The above three can all be summed up with the phrase ’skillfully utilizing external things’. They command a large number of prisoners as cannon fodder to attack the peripheral defenses of the Black Prison Castle... a very old, yet effective combat plan.”

”As for the Giant Beast Behemoth, it could barely be considered ’using force to control people’... It coercively drives the prisoners with violence, though the method is slightly rougher than the others, the effect is much the same.”

This statement was more substantial than the previous two young wizards, and several big wizards nodded in satisfaction without interrupting, just listening to Zhang Yu continue to analyze.

No wonder he’s the leader of the assistant team, Hilda listened to Zhang Yu’s response, wore a trace of admiration on her face, knowing that the Anti-evil charm was most likely going to fall into the hands of the leader.

He rather harbored no jealousy, for Zhang Yu’s ability was renowned in the assistant team, and as the leader, he always acted fairly, and once he had the charm paper, he would use it for the members of the assistant team.

Thinking of this, the young assistant simply cast his gaze outside the castle, watching the four Great Demons drive countless prisoner cannon fodder, crazily attacking between the heavenly lamp and Hell’s Fire.

There was a giant toad, swelling its throat, leaping forward, each jump covering several miles, opening its large mouth, and a flesh projectile resembling a ghostly shade, every strike could pull down several heavenly lamps.

There was a multi-legged centipede, tens, even hundreds of meters long, moving along the trenches carved out by the Hell’s equation, propelled by lava, thousands of sharp legs like thousands of oars, swiftly driving its form, yet still agile, as incantations from the outer castle often missed its body, only evaded past.

There were also red-skinned scorpion-tailed demons, with horns on their heads and reverse-jointed hard-hooved legs, wielding steel forks, charging forward in a frenzy, whenever a companion was knocked down by the wizards’ magic, their first reaction was to share the bones and flesh, cleaning it up completely without leaving a scrap of bone behind.

The demon’s assault was fierce.

And the wizard’s defense was not falling behind.

Relying on the outer castle’s Defensive Magic Array, hundreds of hunting teams either stood behind the walls or were attached to the true forms of the big wizards, flipping through Law books, and countless spells fell like raindrops, colorful lights illuminated the sky, resembling a dreamland in its brilliance.

The fierce battle was yet to begin, several big wizards were all seated steadily at the front.

Only the scholarly musician with a zither, the swordsman Taoist, and the scholar monk holding a precious vase, donned benevolence, each deploying their own treasures, mildly intervening to block one or two.

Within the boundless light and shadows, the occasional sound of zither strings resonating could be heard, shattering the most aggressive prisoners in the assault, leaving black blood scattered on the ground.

Also seen within the endless karmic flames, a point of cold light dragging a silver-white tail, swiftly passing between flashes of lightning and fire, slipping quickly between several prisoners, leaving only fragmented corpses with holes in their skulls and gaps in their necks, sprawled in the lava.

And a slender tornado came from the horizon, selecting and screening among the prisoner army, swiftly enveloped a certain prisoner, absorbing them into the vase.

Several big wizards naturally disdained dealing with those minor underlings.

Whenever they made a move, the targets were always puppets controlled by Sky Spider Eris, or ghouls driven by Witch Demon Sujade, or freaks incarnated by Resentful Shen Jiliangzi.

The covert battle rose and fell, leaving the young wizards standing on the frontlines dazzled.

Just as the battle gradually became more intense.

Within the area shrouded by the light of heavenly lamps and Hell’s Fire, in the Black Prison World’s deeply curtained night.

Suddenly, a white arc emerged from west to east, sweeping across the sky.

In the inner castle, two vice principals seated on high chairs, Professor Yao and other deans in the main castle listening to the assistant team’s leader analyze the battle, five Upper House Members of the Moon Council in the outer castle, nine great wizards outside the castle, and the four Great Demons standing at the edge of light and darkness, all simultaneously raised their heads, looking at that white arc.

The Black Prison has no sun, hence the white arc cannot pierce the sun.

The Black Prison also has no light, hence the white arc’s light can only come from the outside world.

That white arc resembled a horizon-splitting axe light, carving a striking white mark on the black curtain.

”A certain gate set outside the Black Prison has been shattered.”

Professor Yao looked up at the white mark lingering in the sky, gradually fading at a very slow pace, and spoke softly.

The night wind swept through, and Hilda felt her back hairs stand on end, cold sweat pouring down.
