Destined Entwining: Capturing My Devoted Beau

Chapter 849: Chapter 426: Another Accident (Second Update)

Big D was startled for a moment and instinctively said, ”What does Maria getting shot have to do with her? She’s just a sister who just came from home.”

”Hehe, that’s a long story. We want to know too.” Manager Hou chuckled and signaled Maria’s three brothers to knock on the door.

Lawrence Winters heard it clearly from inside; she didn’t wait for anyone to pound on her door, she opened it proactively and said calmly, ”May I ask if you need something?”

Manager Hou suddenly saw a graceful and beautiful white-collar lady standing in front of him, and for a moment, he couldn’t speak.

The information he got said she was a rustic little village girl...

Who is this woman?

Her skin was bright white, her eyes darker than the night, lips tightly pressed, glistening with a faint shimmer. Just hearing her speak could make one’s throat tighten...

Manager Hou swallowed hard twice to find his voice.

He opened his mouth, discovering his voice was somewhat hoarse: ”... Did you read Maria’s fortune today, cursing her to die horribly?”

Lawrence Winters frowned slightly and said, ”No.”

”How dare you say no?! Everyone on Fortune Telling Street heard it! Old Chang next to your stall can testify!” Maria’s father said angrily, ”My daughter is dead now, is it your doing?!”

”Certainly not. Don’t smear me. The Three Pure Ones are above, falsely accusing someone will get you struck by lightning.” Lawrence raised an eyebrow and said seriously, ”I didn’t collect a penny from Maria; her situation has nothing to do with me.”

Only when money is collected does the karma become established.

”See! You’re just a witch! Cursing others again!” Maria’s father shook with anger, ”I’m calling the police to arrest you!”

Lawrence Winters twitched the corner of her mouth, ”Calling the police to arrest me? Evidence? I played mahjong here all day today, countless people went in and out of the hall and can vouch for me. Instead of catching the real culprit, you come after me. I should be calling the police to report you for harassing me!”

Seeing things not going well, Manager Hu quickly said, ”Even if you have nothing to do with Maria’s case, not registering with us while fortune-telling on Fortune Telling Street is already illegal! Please come with us and assist with the investigation!”

Lawrence Winters laughed again, her gaze filled with unspeakable sarcasm, ”Illegal? Are you saying it’s illegal to read a friend’s face for free? Show me the law that states friends can’t read each other’s faces?”

Manager Hu quickly said, ”Reading faces for free? Fine, even if you didn’t take Maria’s money, not a commercial relationship. But yesterday you took Jiji’s money, and you dare claim it was friendship?!”

”Sir, Jiji and I are friends; Miss Jiji gave me a red envelope, is it illegal for friends to give red envelopes?” Lawrence was fully prepared to wait for the Grant Branch people to cause trouble.

She just didn’t expect them to even use a human life.

More ruthless than she imagined, no wonder they could thrive overseas.

”Red envelope?!”

”Yes, do you want to see the cover? I haven’t even opened it.” Lawrence shrugged, ”Fine, you’re blocking my way, I just called a cab, it’s not safe here.”

”You’re trying to run!” Manager Hou squinted and motioned to Big D with a hand, ”Big D, it’s your turn, take her to our office, we need to report this to the district supervisor! A life has been lost, she can’t decide on her own!”

Lawrence slightly raised her chin, coldly said, ”What? Is this gentleman going to use violence to take me away? Then I’m really calling the police!”

As she spoke, she raised her phone and said in English, ”Call 911!”

She dialed 911, the emergency number for abroad.

The call was connected instantly; Lawrence immediately screamed with a sobbing voice, ”Help! Help! Six guys are trying to kidnap me!”

Then she quickly gave her address.

The operator on the other side was a gentle female voice; she quickly said, ”Madam, don’t be panic. Our people are on the way!”

Quickly, the police patrolling near Chinatown got the news.

Because it was a woman calling for help, and her accent was pure Oxford, the police were very concerned, thinking it was a Caucasian calling in Chinatown, they quickly came over.

Manager Hu and Manager Hou looked at each other, not expecting this woman to be so challenging.

They wanted Big D to act quickly and decisively.

Big D crossed his arms and lazily said, ”Manager Hou, we’re on the same level, you can’t order me. If you want to catch her, let the district supervisor come.”
