Destined Entwining: Capturing My Devoted Beau

Chapter 836: Chapter 420: Thousands of Songs

With a soft hiss, the messy strings of colorful lights strung between the grapevines were sliced by the sharp lobster shell.

The lights fizzled out with a crackling sound like exploding bulbs, even causing the streetlights to turn off one by one, plunging the whole neighborhood into a blackout.

Suddenly, everyone’s view was swallowed by darkness.

In the split second of everyone being stunned, Lawrence Winters had already jumped up, lightly touching the railing of the rooftop terrace with his foot, leaping towards the place where the three were grappling!

Bam!

She landed a firm kick on the wrist of the person behind Big D holding a knife.

The person’s hand veered off course, and the long knife that was meant to pierce Big D’s vitals only sliced a cut across his arm!

Big D’s burly arm was scraped, and a thin layer of skin peeled off, causing blood to instantly spatter.

With one kick, Lawrence immediately retreated, but was still splattered with a few drops of blood.

She was somewhat annoyed that her freshly changed clothes were stained.

But fortunately, the entire neighborhood was shrouded in darkness, preventing anyone from clearly seeing her actions.

Just as Big D knocked out the man who had slashed his arm with a punch, the knife from behind already injured his arm, realizing instantaneously that he had fallen into a trap.

Without turning his head, he fiercely whipped his leg backward.

The person behind holding the knife was caught off guard, first getting their wrist kicked by Lawrence, barely steadying themselves, only to be tripped up by Big D immediately after.

The knife clattered to the ground, and they held their wrist, wailing in agony.

Seizing these few seconds, Lawrence supported herself with one hand on the railing and swung back onto the outdoor terrace to her original position.

Shortly after she settled, the power in the neighborhood was restored.

The streetlights flickered back on.

The small lights within the grapevine canopy on the rooftop terrace where Lawrence was did not light up, because their wiring was spliced from the streetlight wires, which were severed by Lawrence with a lobster shell, and no one has figured out why yet.

Big D flagrantly gestured to summon his men to drag the two staged combatants away.

Soon, several elderly men in their fifties and sixties began sweeping the street, and the piled-up trash on the roadside was swiftly taken away by a small cart.

The bloodstains on the road were cleaned up as well.

The restaurant where Lawrence was dining was the most upscale in this street, also known as ”Gilbert Family Cuisine,” and became the main focus of the cleanup.

Female waitresses in neat uniforms came out in file from the main entrance, lining up in two long rows at the door.

The decorative lights on the restaurant building also lit up.

These lights usually only illuminate during festive times, yet they were brightly multicolored now despite it not being a holiday.

At some point, the song ”Silence is Golden” playing on the street had changed to another tune.

”Gently looking back, belonging to the nights we shared.

Red is still you, gifting my heart with warmth like the sun.

Silly tears flowing, hoping for understanding and forgiveness.

Tomorrow we part, the road might be lonely and long.

In an instant, so much to say.

Sadly, soon to be distant, only able to deeply gaze at this moment....”

Yet another beautiful song, sung by a deeply restrained female voice, like she has many untold sorrows.

Lawrence checked her phone again, discovering this song was called ”Thousands of Songs,” another very old classic.

Gradually, the bustling street quieted down.

From Lawrence’s vantage on the terrace, the waitresses lined up in two teams at the restaurant’s entrance stopped chattering.

Their eager gazes were fixed at the end of the long street, as if they were eagerly anticipating someone important.

Lawrence followed their gaze out of curiosity.

Shortly, three long black Cadillacs drove in from the horizon, smoothly parking by the street side.

Bodyguards stepped out from the front and back vehicles, securing the area on the street.

The door of the middle Cadillac was opened from outside, and a man in his forties slowly descended from the car.

He was very tall and handsome, dressed in a casual suit, looking serious and with especially deep laugh lines, exuding authority.

He held a Compass in his hand, coolly scanning his surroundings, sweeping his gaze over everyone’s faces here.

Lawrence also felt the man’s gaze.

However, she had no special reaction, looking at these people with an expression of excitement like everyone else, as if watching a spectacle.

This was the normal reaction of an ordinary person.

”... Oh my God! That’s Mr. Gilbert! I actually get to see Mr. Gilbert!”
