Destined Entwining: Capturing My Devoted Beau

Chapter 825: Chapter 416: Cringe to the Extreme (Second Update)_3

A luxurious stroller emerged from behind some pine and cypress trees, carrying a small baby inside who was whimpering and crying.

The person pushing the stroller was Joyce Shaw’s wife, Kuang Renmei.

Accompanying her, aside from her parents, was a man—Francis Johnson.

Kenneth Osborne blinked, ”What’s going on here...?”

Kuang Renmei picked up the child from the stroller and exclaimed, ”Kenneth, you and Lawrence got divorced? When did you get married? You didn’t even invite me!”

It turned out they had heard their conversation just now.

Kenneth Osborne was so embarrassed he wished the earth would swallow him up.

His fair and handsome face quickly flushed with a light blush, the corners of his slender eyes looked as if they were dusted with rouge, and his crimson lips were naturally rosy, creating a face more exquisite and beautiful than the most gorgeous woman.

Kenneth Osborne felt utterly mortified, and he had no choice but to explain, ”We just registered. We were originally planning to hold a ceremony later, but then...”

But then, before the ceremony could be held, they received their divorce certificate first.

Kuang Renmei nodded and said, ”Alright, I was just thinking if Lawrence really got married and didn’t invite me to the wedding, I’d definitely be at odds with her.”

As she sighed inwardly, she discreetly gave Lawrence Winters a thumbs up.

Being able to let go of such a gorgeous husband just like that, she’s truly an example for all of us...

Francis Johnson chuckled and switched the topic, ”Today is Joyce Shaw’s memorial day. Miss Chu said she wanted to visit his grave. Joyce’s grandmother was supposed to come as well, but she was too upset and caught a cold recently, so it’s Miss Chu’s parents who accompanied her and her son.”

”I also came to visit Joyce’s grave. We happened to run into each other at the cemetery entrance, so we came together.”

Seeing Kenneth Osborne’s awkward expression, Francis Johnson couldn’t help but add, ”We’ve been here for a while, then took a stroll around to check out the surroundings. When we came back, we saw you arrived, sitting there talking to Joyce...”

This was the most embarrassing moment Kenneth Osborne had ever encountered in his life.

He was even inclined to just embrace the mess, knowing he had already lost all dignity.

Francis Johnson just calmly watched him until Kenneth Osborne, gritting his teeth, said, ”Sorry for making a spectacle of myself. I was feeling uneasy, but after talking about it, I feel much better.”

Kuang Renmei’s mother looked at him sympathetically and said, ”You youngsters, you don’t cherish what you have, get married, and then get divorced. Look at the two of them...”

Kuang Renmei wasn’t as despondent anymore.

It’s been a year since Joyce passed, her child was born, and though the sadness lingered, life must go on.

She smiled faintly and said, ”Everyone has their own fate, Mom, it’s not something that can be compared.”

Kuang Renmei’s mother was just making casual remarks, seeing her daughter wasn’t receptive, she stopped talking.

Francis Johnson nodded at Kuang Renmei and her parents and said, ”You folks carry on, I have something to discuss with Kenneth, so we’ll be off.”

”Alright, thank you, Mr. Johnson, for coming to visit Joyce’s grave.” Kuang Renmei said politely, even holding the child’s small hand to wave at Francis Johnson.

Francis Johnson pinched the little baby’s chubby white hand, ”You should head back early too.”

Francis Johnson turned and left the cemetery with Kenneth Osborne.

They both drove their own cars.

Francis Johnson said to Kenneth Osborne, ”Do you have some free time today? Want to drop by my place for a bit?”

He noticed Kenneth Osborne’s mental state seemed a bit off; he was holding back something and perhaps in need of some psychological support.

If Kenneth Osborne could get through this tough time, he would advance to a new level of psychological resilience and emotional strength.

Back in the Special Operations Division, Francis Johnson’s condition was much worse than Kenneth’s current state.

But after enduring a barrage of multifaceted onslaughts, he found he too had grown a thicker skin.

Everyone starts out as a plump little baby, don’t they?

The difference lies in what happens after birth.

Some choose to remain ensconced in their comfort zone, however old they grow, they remain immature, overreactive people easily startled.

Others choose to face challenges head-on, honing their willpower and fortitude.

No one is born a natural tough guy, all are forged through blood and tears.

Kenneth Osborne indeed wanted to talk to someone.

The things he said in front of Joyce’s grave, after all, had already been overheard by Francis Johnson.

Upon sharing this secret, the invisible barrier between Kenneth Osborne and Francis Johnson finally crumbled.

Kenneth Osborne felt free of the burden of maintaining an image, able to open his heart to Francis Johnson.

They drove to Francis Johnson’s office.

Francis Johnson’s company was also located in the same emerging tech park as Kenneth’s.

However, he barely showed up in the office throughout the year, plus his company lacked a fixed receptionist or secretarial staff.

Few knew that the famous SSA in the private equity circles operated like a flash-in-the-pan company.

Kenneth Osborne followed him in and sat down in Francis Johnson’s CEO office.

Francis Johnson had even prepared a cup of coffee and two small muffins for him, placing them in front of him, saying, ”Have a bite, you look quite pale.”

Kenneth Osborne was indeed hungry, as he hadn’t eaten properly since last night.

The snacks and tidbits called by Marilyn didn’t fill the stomach.

It was already afternoon.

Seeing him devour the two small muffins, Francis Johnson realized he was starving, and asked, ”How long has it been since you last ate?”

”Since last night until now,” Kenneth Osborne replied without reservation, ”If Mr. Johnson doesn’t mind, I’ll order some takeaway?”

”Not at all, order something for me too.” Francis Johnson said, chuckling.

While waiting for the delivery, Francis Johnson brought the conversation back on track, asking, ”...Why the sudden divorce?”

Kenneth Osborne didn’t know where to begin; the morning had felt like a dream, and he rashly agreed.

Thinking for a moment, he coolly stated, ”Actually, you probably already heard the reason. It’s just like that.”

”But the freezing cold doesn’t form in a day. There must have been a triggering event, right?” Francis Johnson asked with curiosity.

”Well, it was because Nora suddenly resigned from NewHuman Corporation without consulting me. I hadn’t been home for several days, and she didn’t notice.” Kenneth Osborne said with a wry smile, ”Of course, that’s not the only thing. There were many other issues too; it added up, and it just ended like this.”

Francis Johnson pondered for a moment, ”Why did Lawrence Winters suddenly resign from NewHuman Corporation? Wasn’t that young Mr. Foster treating her well?”

”Not badly... he practically put her on a pedestal, maybe too well...” Kenneth Osborne said sourly, realizing he still couldn’t let go.

Edward Foster, in his mind, was the culprit that ruined his and Lawrence Winters’ once blissful marriage.
