Destined Entwining: Capturing My Devoted Beau

Chapter 840: Chapter 421: Singing with You Together_3

He snorted coldly in his heart and downed a glass of Moutai.

...

Evan Stetford returned home, it was already past nine in the evening.

The Stetford Family’s old manor is located on Long Island, New York, covering a full ten acres.

After driving through the large iron gate, it takes a few more minutes to reach the residence.

This place faces an unbeatable sea view, with a piece of white sandy beach enclosed as private territory. At night, fierce bodyguards patrol with vicious military dogs.

When Evan’s car came in, several military dogs excitedly chased the car for a while.

Not until his car drove into the garage did they pant and run into the dark lawn, tongues wagging.

The main residence of Evan’s house is a villa in the style of ancient Greece, its white marble walls and four tall round stone pillar porches stand mighty and majestic under the moonlight, reminiscent of the Twelve Oaks mansion from ”Gone with the Wind.”

Evan got out of the car and walked up the marble path toward the residence.

Beside the road, the lawn is neatly trimmed. Either side of the lawn features a fountain, with lotus buds ready to bloom, and winged cherub sculptures.

”Young Master Evan is back.”

”Good evening, Young Master Evan.”

”Have you had dinner, Young Master Evan?”

”Young Master Evan, Uncle Nine is waiting for you in the study.”

As he walked along, numerous servants respectfully greeted him.

Evan nodded carelessly, his long legs stepping onto the stairs.

He passed through the living room, bypassed the elegant corridor, and arrived at Richard Stetford’s study at the back of the mansion, facing the sea.

An entire wall is floor-to-ceiling glass.

Everyone in the Stetford Family knows that this glass is no ordinary glass but bulletproof glass.

”Dad, I’m home.” Evan walked into Richard’s study and found him standing in front of the window, lost in thought as he gazed at the sea view outside.

Since their house is relatively close to the sea, the soundproofing must be excellent; otherwise, sleeping ”to the sound of” waves every night would cause a nervous breakdown.

Richard, dressed in a long robe, ”Mhmm,” turned around, smiled, and asked, ”Have you had dinner? Didn’t Mr. Zhuge invite you to dine at his restaurant?”

”He did invite me, but not for dinner.” Evan smiled, ”Mr. Zhuge said he calculated that a person with great fortune would come to New York, but after chasing them to the restaurant door, he couldn’t find them anymore. He seemed quite upset.”

Saying this, Evan sat on the elephant skin sofa in Richard’s study.

Richard sat across from him, surprised, ”... There’s someone even he can’t track down? What’s the reason?”

”I don’t know, he didn’t say.” Evan shook his head, ”However, he inquired about the Heavenly Master Sect’s World Cup top prize this year, asking what prizes you’ll be offering.”

Richard chuckled, ”I have prepared grand prizes indeed; let’s see who has the skill to take them.”

Evan was curious, ”What is it? Can I know?”

”No.” Richard laughed heartily, ”You’re the organizer of this year’s top competition, I can’t tell you, it would be leaking information.”

”Me?” Evan was quite surprised, ”To be honest, I’ve never attended any of their competitions; are they sure about letting me host?”

”All procedures are arranged; you’re just sitting on the chairman’s podium.” Richard said casually, ”Regardless of what the Grant Branch does, our Stetford Family must take the lead. If they don’t understand, make them understand.”

The latter sentence was uttered with a rigid tone by Richard.

Evan thought for a moment, then narrowed his eyes, ”That’s certain. Rest assured, the Grant Branch won’t cause any waves. But have you considered inviting domestic Heavenly Masters to participate in the competition?”

”Let’s discuss it later. With only two weeks left before the competition begins, they can’t join this time. Perhaps next time.” Richard said and noticed a maid dressed in a dress respectfully saying at the door, ”Mr. Stetford, Young Master Evan, dinner is ready.”

Evan was very surprised, ”Dad, you haven’t had dinner yet?”

”I was waiting for you to come home, worried you didn’t eat. Now it’s perfect timing for us father and son to eat together.”

Richard laughed heartily and walked to the dining room with Evan.

The long dining table already had several steaming dishes prepared for them to enjoy.

...

Meanwhile, Lawrence Winters just finished washing clothes and put them in the dryer.

Sally also came in with a laundry basket.

Seeing Lawrence, she immediately smiled, ”Are you doing laundry, little sister?”

Lawrence nodded obediently, ”Sister Sally.”

As Sally put clothes in the washing machine, she chatted with Lawrence.

Lawrence mentioned wanting to find a place to work, ”Sister Sally, when I was home, I learned a bit of fortune-telling with my grandfather. Do you think I can set up a stall on the street to do fortune-telling?”

Sally’s expression immediately turned serious, ”Are you a disciple of the Grant Branch?”

Lawrence shook his head, ”Of course not, I just came from home and don’t know anyone from the Grant Branch.”

”Since you’re not a disciple of the Grant Branch, never think about it. Even if you work as a seamstress in a garment factory, don’t think of doing fortune-telling.”

She gestured with a hand across her throat, ”Doing fortune-telling in the Grant Branch’s territory is like the old birthday star eating arsenic, tired of living.”

Lawrence feigned fear but secretly didn’t care, thinking that she came here to cause trouble for the Grant Branch.

Now knowing what would aggravate them the most, she of course wanted to push it all the way.

She grinned mischievously, ”Got it, thanks for the reminder, Sister Sally.”
