Destined Entwining: Capturing My Devoted Beau

Chapter 819: Chapter 414: Celestial Path Skill Aligns with Nature (Second Update)_3

Kenneth Osborne instinctively flipped his wrist, gripping his phone tightly.

Sweat broke out on his back.

He closed his eyes and said, ”It’s nothing, maybe I’m just a bit dizzy from not sleeping all night.”

In fact, staying up all night was a regular thing for him, and at this age, not sleeping one night doesn’t affect him at all.

The way he felt now was purely because of a message from Lawrence Winters.

It felt like his heart was bleeding, and he had to pretend everything was fine on the surface.

He steadied himself and said, ”I have an urgent matter, please excuse me.”

Without caring about the expressions on Nathan Sheldon and Marilyn’s faces, he hurriedly left the oxygen bar.

Once in the car, he turned on the speakerphone and started calling Lawrence Winters.

But Lawrence Winters wasn’t answering his calls anymore.

He checked Lawrence Winters’ location again and found it was near the Civil Affairs Bureau!

That was where he and she registered their marriage!

Kenneth Osborne felt as if his insides were burning and for the first time, he drove as fast as he could, racing through the streets of Capital City at sunrise.

It was already rush hour for office workers, and traffic jams had become the norm.

Kenneth Osborne was even caught speeding by the police and had to pull over to the roadside to wait for a ticket.

...

Lawrence Winters had been waiting in front of the Civil Affairs Bureau for hours, but Kenneth Osborne still hadn’t shown up.

He had tried calling her, but she didn’t want to answer or hear him out.

All she wanted was a divorce.

Just like how they got married, going with the flow.

Edward Foster had come to the office that day, walking in circles in the corridor, feeling uneasy every time he saw Lawrence Winters’ unoccupied office.

He finally couldn’t resist anymore and tried calling her, hoping to persuade her to reconsider.

When Lawrence Winters answered the call, her voice was very listless.

In a hoarse voice, she said, ”Thank you for your kindness, Mr. Foster, but I’ve truly made up my mind.”

Edward Foster wanted to give it one last shot.

If Lawrence Winters really resigned, he wouldn’t have even the slightest chance in the future.

Now, working in the same company, he still had the idea of using his proximity to win her over...

Thinking of this, Edward Foster said, ”How about this, let’s talk it over again. Whatever concerns or issues you have, you can tell me, and I’ll see how we can come up with a solution that satisfies everyone.”

”There’s really no need, I already have plans for my future. I have other things to do, we can talk later,” said Lawrence Winters, wanting to hang up the phone.

Edward Foster, quick-witted in the moment, hurriedly said, ”Wait, don’t rush. I have a document here that needs your signature. You can’t leave with just a resignation letter.”

Lawrence Winters breathed a sigh of relief as long as Edward Foster stopped pushing the issue further.

She nodded weakly, saying, ”I’ll go to the office to sign it once I’m done with my things.”

”That’s not too much trouble, I’ll bring the document to you and watch you sign it,” said Edward Foster with a gleam in his eye, ”You sound unwell, did you catch a cold?”

Lawrence Winters rubbed her temple, feeling exhausted.

She hadn’t slept well the whole night before, and then she rushed out in the morning without even having breakfast.

But she was waiting at the entrance of the Civil Affairs Bureau, not daring to leave even a step, and now it was nearly noon, her stomach growling with hunger.

She gave a bitter smile, ”It’s not the cold, it’s hunger. I didn’t even have breakfast today.”

Edward Foster immediately stood up, ”Where are you? I’ll bring you some food.”

Lawrence Winters quickly shook her head, ”I can order delivery, it’s just that I have no appetite to eat, don’t trouble yourself, Mr. Foster.”

”Lawrence, I’d be upset if you do this. Even if you resign, we’re still friends, right? Keeping me at arm’s length like this, what’s the meaning of it? What did I ever do wrong to you?”

Having been turned down by Lawrence Winters several times, Edward Foster was getting a bit irritated.

Lawrence Winters hesitated for a moment, glanced at her phone, and saw that Kenneth Osborne was still stuck at some point, unable to come over.

She didn’t know what was going on, but her hungry stomach was making her uncomfortable, so she compromised.

She realized she indeed needed help at this moment.

”...Fine, I’m at this location.” Lawrence Winters sent over her location.

Edward Foster recognized it immediately and exclaimed, ”What are you doing at the Civil Affairs Bureau?!”

”What else could I be doing?! Of course, getting a divorce.” Lawrence Winters felt irritable, her stomach aching even more.

When Edward Foster heard the word ”divorce,” he was overjoyed and quickly said, ”Okay, got it, I’m coming right away!”

Almost humming a tune, he left his office, went downstairs to buy breakfast, and drove swiftly to the Civil Affairs Bureau where Lawrence Winters was.

Strangely, the usually congested main road was unexpectedly clear when he drove from his place to the Civil Affairs Bureau.

When he arrived, Kenneth Osborne had just arrived too, but it was a step too late.

Seeing the couple ahead standing cozily together at the entrance of the Civil Affairs Bureau, anyone who didn’t know might have thought they were there to register for marriage...

Kenneth Osborne squinted his eyes, and at that moment, all of Lawrence Winters’ strange behavior had an explanation in his mind.

It turned out her heart had strayed, which was why she wanted a divorce.

Kenneth Osborne slowly got out of the car and approached Lawrence Winters and Edward Foster, with a faint smile, saying, ”Why don’t you two get a room instead? Flirting on the street is really unsightly.”

Lawrence Winters looked up, seeing Kenneth Osborne had finally arrived, but his first words were sarcastic, which made her angry again.

She coldly said, ”What we do is none of your concern. Now that you’re here, let’s go inside.”

She lost all appetite, casually thrust the food box into Edward Foster’s hands, and marched into the Civil Affairs Bureau.

Edward Foster gave Kenneth Osborne a triumphant smile, looking very smug.

Kenneth Osborne snorted, not following them inside, lazily saying, ”I didn’t bring my ID, how can we get divorced?”

”I brought it for you.” Lawrence Winters turned back, waving Kenneth Osborne’s marriage certificate and household register, ”Any more excuses?”

To have even prepared this.

Kenneth Osborne, driven by youthful zeal and provoked by Edward Foster, immediately went in, ”Fine, let’s divorce then! Who’s afraid of whom!”

They went into the Civil Affairs Bureau and completed all the formalities in less than half an hour.

Usually, the staff at the Civil Affairs Bureau would try to advise them, but seeing the couple with such solemn faces as if quarreling intensely, they didn’t dare to intervene.

Their marriage certificate was cut at the corner, and they received two divorce certificates, similarly red in color. Lawrence Winters deliberately said, ”The divorce certificates should be green, red doesn’t suit the occasion at all.”

Kenneth Osborne clenched his fist, his lips pressed tightly together, eyes practically spitting fire, wishing to burn the sarcastic woman in front of him to ashes!

He wanted to say something harsh, but years of restraint stopped him.

He closed his eyes, turned around, and left without a word.
