Destined Entwining: Capturing My Devoted Beau

Chapter 817: Chapter 414: Celestial Path Skill Follows Nature (Second Update)

Lawrence Winters finished speaking and cautiously looked up, quickly glancing at the elderly Daoist.

She said this with gritted teeth, and regretted it somewhat as soon as she spoke.

But the elderly Daoist still looked kind and amicable, nodded, and said, ”... then you should get divorced.”

Lawrence: ”...”

She muttered discontentedly, ”... Aren’t you supposed to persuade people to stay together, not to separate?”

Sometimes when people say certain things in anger, it doesn’t mean it’s their resolution; it’s a kind of test, waiting for someone’s acceptance or rejection.

That way, they can feel more at ease.

The elderly Daoist chuckled, ”Why should I persuade unity rather than separation? Just rushing to get the certificate, you call that marriage? Moreover, the Celestial Path Skill says, those who practice Daoism prioritize acting naturally. Don’t force yourself; that’s the right way.”

Lawrence: ”...”

It seems there’s some truth to that.

She was thoughtful.

The elderly Daoist lowered his gaze, closely observing the expressions on her face, softly sighing, he said, ”Being a couple requires destiny, too.”

”Without enough destiny, force is futile.”

”Lawrence, I just hope that when you make a decision, you’re thinking about him as a person, not about his external attributes like family background, wealth, status, etc.”

”If after thoughtful consideration, the reason for making this decision is him as a person, then I support you.”

”In life, there are less than fifty years when you can truly make decisions yourself; why should you wrong yourself? Isn’t it better to live happily?”

Lawrence touched her heart; after making this decision, her restless and uneasy feelings strangely calmed a lot.

It seems that the discomfort of recent days has been waiting for this remedy.

The elderly Daoist continued, ”This old Daoist in my lifetime has never fallen in love or liked anyone, so I can’t help you with this issue.”

”But you can ask yourself a few questions.”

”After divorce, will you still interact with him? Will you still be friends? Can you meet with a smile and let bygones be bygones?”

”If all answers are no, then you can definitely get divorced.”

Lawrence understood.

She softly said, ”Actually, I never planned to marry Kenneth. My dad said love fades, so I planned to be his closest friend for life.”

”Now, after getting married, I found out this decision is both selfish and irritating to others.”

”Putting myself in his shoes, if Kenneth had a closest female friend, I might have already taken a knife to both of them.”

”The biggest reason I want a divorce now is that I can’t stand him lying to me about other women.”

”Maybe he just doesn’t want me to overthink, but this unintentional concealment is the most fatal.”

”Love is exclusive; it hardly tolerates deviation or hesitation.”

”When he subconsciously hides things from me, love has already changed.”

”Therefore, divorcing him means we can’t even be friends.”

”Maybe other couples get divorced when their emotions are exhausted, taking a step back, being friends is pretty good.”

”But not me. For me, it’s like closing a door, erasing a program, removing retreat, rather than each stepping back into a vast sky.”

The elderly Daoist blinked and looked down at Lawrence, ”Since you already thought it through, why ask me at all? Lawrence, you’re an adult; you should learn to make decisions yourself.”

”Of course, also think carefully about the consequences of this decision; can you bear it?”

Lawrence nodded, ”Of course, I can.”

The elderly Daoist smiled, ”Then, if Kenneth Osborne later falls in love with another woman and gets married, can you accept it?”

Lawrence hesitated for a moment but stubbornly said, ”I said, after divorcing him, we won’t continue interacting, nor be friends. No matter which woman he falls in love with and marries, I don’t want to know!”

”A little ostrich.” The elderly Daoist patted her hand, smiled, and said, ”Alright, go do what you want, follow your heart. If you don’t toss and turn a bit, you won’t know what your heart really wants.”

Inspired by the elderly Daoist, early the next morning, Lawrence Winters drove to Kenneth Osborne’s three-bedroom house without eating breakfast.

She took out her phone to check Kenneth Osborne’s location and found that he wasn’t home.

Has he been staying in that oxygen bar all night?

Aren’t you afraid of oxygen intoxication...

Lawrence muttered as she went upstairs, took out the key, and opened Kenneth Osborne’s three-bedroom home.

She found Kenneth Osborne’s marriage certificate and household register, took her own marriage certificate and household register, and left Kenneth Osborne’s home, heading to the civil affairs bureau where they once registered their marriage.
