Destined Entwining: Capturing My Devoted Beau

Chapter 811: Chapter 412: A Thousand Twists of Two Hearts (Second Update)

Kenneth Osborne had already come out of the elevator.

His face was grim, regretting countless times, regretting the moment he stepped into the elevator that he had spoken so hastily.

He was originally angry, but when they were truly about to separate, he found he couldn’t accept it, no matter what.

But since she didn’t chase after him, he was somewhat at a loss...

In the end, it was still the burden of having an idol persona.

In truth, he’s quite indifferent emotionally, but only towards Lawrence Winters, after all these years, his feelings had deepened to an astonishing degree.

Kenneth Osborne was internally battling with himself, contemplating whether he should just go back on his own initiative.

He walked slowly, occasionally glancing back, but Lawrence Winters did not chase after him.

He got his car from the garage and drove at a snail’s pace, taking several minutes to exit the community.

As he was approaching the major road outside the community, he gripped the steering wheel tightly, watching the magnolia bud-like street lights along the tree-lined road light up one by one.

He had walked this road many times, but never felt so conflicted as now.

He finally couldn’t go any further, so he stopped by the roadside, got out of the car, leaned against the car door, and started smoking.

The surroundings of this community are quite nice, it was already nine o’clock at night, and there weren’t many pedestrians or cars on the road.

Everyone else had gone home, yet he had nowhere to go.

After a short while, his phone rang.

Kenneth Osborne was truly relieved.

It must be Nora calling.

He hurriedly fumbled for his phone, not even checking the caller ID before sliding to answer the call, saying with a hint of anticipation: ”...Nora?”

The person on the other end sounded a bit embarrassed.

After a brief silence, they said: ”Mr. Osborne, I’m Marilyn, the private secretary of the Foster Consortium’s president’s wife. I got your number from Junior Foster.”

Kenneth Osborne was immediately disappointed beyond words.

After a while, he responded with a light ”Oh,” and said indifferently, ”...I mistook you for someone else. What can I do for you?”

Marilyn paused, knowing it definitely wasn’t that simple, mistaking a phone number?

But she smartly didn’t ask more, simply saying: ”It’s like this, I helped you bid for the special effects production contract with NewHuman Corporation.”

As she spoke, she briefly explained the situation from back then, adding: ”If you don’t believe me, you can ask Lawrence Winters, she was present at the time.”

Kenneth Osborne was slightly surprised, ”It was you?”

Back then, his Far Promise Special Effects had just been established with no staff, and Lawrence Winters had offered to help him bid, but it turned out that the assistance came from Edward Foster.

Kenneth Osborne’s feelings were indescribable.

”Yes, I saw the special effects produced by your company, and they are indeed outstanding. I helped for the sake of the Foster Consortium, after all, we can’t just watch NewHuman Corporation continue losing money,” Marilyn laughed heartily.

Kenneth Osborne also chuckled bitterly, ”Well, thank you.”

Marilyn detected the despondency in his voice, paused for a moment, and continued: ”I heard you’re handling a lawsuit with a foreign company, I studied law during my time abroad, specializing in intellectual property.”

”The contract you signed is something I helped you obtain, so I can’t leave you to bear the responsibility alone. I’ve researched some materials for you.”

”If convenient, can we meet to discuss this, I found materials that might be useful to you. By the way, I have a friend I’d like to introduce you to, perhaps they can help you.”

Kenneth Osborne currently felt very tumultuous and reluctant to talk to anyone, he merely asked indifferently: ”...can’t these materials be sent via email?”

”It’s an old book about the founding phase of that company’s artificial intelligence, detailing many early events, including their code patent and copyright license application which is now out of print. I had someone obtain it from abroad and it’s been express mailed to me,” Marilyn said with a smile, ”If it’s inconvenient, I can send it to your company tomorrow.”

Kenneth Osborne was slightly stunned; this was precisely the content he needed.

He had even asked Spring Spencer to inquire abroad, yet unexpectedly, this ”Ms. Marilyn” had already procured an out-of-print book for him.

Feeling somewhat excited, he said: ”Oh, I see, that’s fine then, I currently have time, convenient, where are you, I can come now to get it, is that alright?”

Marilyn nodded and replied with a smile: ”I’m at the Star Oxygen Bar, feeling old and often mentally exhausted, needing frequent oxygen therapy, hope you don’t mind.”

As she spoke, Marilyn sent the Star Oxygen Bar location to Kenneth Osborne.
