Destined Entwining: Capturing My Devoted Beau

Chapter 847: Chapter 425: The True Diviner Does Not Divine

Lawrence Winters stood still, stunned.

Although she was mentally prepared, she hadn’t expected it to happen so soon.

Just like yesterday when she mentioned the sudden appearance of Jiji’s boyfriend who had disappeared for years.

She predicted that the man and Jiji had a marital connection and he should return soon, but Jiji turned around and saw the man, which also puzzled her.

Today was the same.

She discerned that Maria was facing a crisis, but she had already explained to her how to avoid it.

If Maria was willing to follow her advice and come to her for fortune-telling again tomorrow, the crisis could be averted...

Lawrence Winters frowned and asked Sally, ”...What did Maria do after I left today? Did she go to crowded places? Or see another fortune teller?”

Sally was taken aback, ”How did you know? Not only did she go to crowded places, she also saw another fortune teller!”

Jiji also chimed in, ”I heard that her brothers and father have already gone to find that fortune teller, Old Chang.”

”Old Chang?”

”Yeah, the one to the left of your spot. After you left, she went to Old Chang for fortune-telling. Many people saw it today. Old Chang even said it would be best if her marriage happened sooner rather than later...”

Lawrence Winters closed her eyes briefly and bitterly smiled, ”...Then there’s nothing that can be done. Forget it, let it be. Who fired the gun, did anyone call the police?”

Sally and Jiji exchanged looks, both shook their heads, saying, ”The police were called, but they couldn’t do anything. The shooter wasn’t targeting her, they were fighting with someone else and accidentally hit her.”

”...It was negligent killing, not just an injury,” Lawrence Winters said seriously, ”You guys need to be careful too, it’s really unsafe here.”

”Actually, this place has always been safer than others. Our Chinatown has the Stetford Family as the overseer, they don’t allow guns. You saw Big D was slashed yesterday, and it was only with a watermelon knife. Today’s incident with Maria involving a gun has already been reported in layers, the Stetford Family will investigate.” Sally, living with Big D, had more information than Jiji.

Jiji also said, ”Yes, so don’t be afraid, little sister. We’re very safe here. I heard from Ah T that the Stetford Family’s eldest son has returned, Ninth Uncle is gradually handing over the business to him, maybe this time they’ll set an example to intimidate others.”

Sally patted her chest with her hand, fear still lingering, ”I hope they catch the troublemaker soon. Using guns in Chinatown on Grant Branch’s turf is really disrespectful to the Grant Branch.”

She then asked Jiji, ”Jiji, how do you know so much about the Stetford Family? Have you met someone important recently?”

Jiji’s lips curled slightly, face reddening, ”...Ah T told me.”

Lawrence Winters looked carefully at Jiji’s face and smiled, ”Jiji, you’re about to settle down. When will you marry Ah T?”

Jiji’s face reddened even further, whispering, ”He said we’d register in two days, but I feel like we haven’t found a place to live yet...”

”Listen to him,” Lawrence Winters suddenly said, ”If you really want to marry him. You can rent a place; having a house isn’t a necessary condition.”

Jiji had initially planned to get engaged first, buy and renovate the house, then register and hold a grand wedding.

But hearing Lawrence Winters say this, she trusted her words greatly and quickly asked, ”Really? Little sister thinks we should register right away?”

”Anyway, register as soon as you can, everything else can follow slowly.” Lawrence Winters patted her shoulder, ”You’ve waited for him for years. If he still loves you and wants to marry you, register immediately.”

”Okay, I’ll go tomorrow.” Jiji was a little dumbfounded by Lawrence Winters’ words but decided to listen to her.

Sally looked at Lawrence Winters, then at Jiji, and exclaimed, ”Little sister, I didn’t realize your master is so amazing, the whole street’s talking about it now. Old Chang’s ’straightforward predictions’ reputation has been shattered, they say you’re the real deal! — Truly a miracle girl!”

Lawrence Winters feigned modesty and said, ”Oh no, it’s just coincidence, I’m just making a living.”

The three of them chatted casually, going upstairs together.

Meanwhile, Maria’s three brothers and her father found Old Chang’s house, the man known for ”straightforward predictions,” nearly beating him to death with sticks.

”It’s all your fault, you miserable man! You gave my sister a reading, and it cost her life!”

”I want you to pay with your life!”

”You even dared to take her money! Twenty per session, but charged her a hundred! Were you collecting money to buy incense, huh?”

Old Chang covered his head, screaming and dodging. Seeing there was no way to avoid the blows, he finally played his trump card, ”It wasn’t me! I didn’t read her to death! I only said her marriage would come early! I didn’t say anything else!”
