Destined Entwining: Capturing My Devoted Beau

Chapter 818: Chapter 414: Celestial Path Skill Follows Nature (Second Update)_2

She sent Kenneth Osborne a WeChat message: ”Meet me at the Civil Affairs Bureau, we’re getting a divorce.”

...

Last night, Kenneth Osborne indeed spent the whole night at the oxygen bar talking with Marilyn and Nathan Sheldon.

From the technological advancements in the West, to the rapid catch-up in the East, and then to the strangulation of any technical budding in the East by the West.

Previously, the West used metaphorical knives to kill the East’s technological progress, like Western big corporations acquiring Eastern small companies, then either absorbing the new technology or shelving it.

Now, Eastern small companies are growing, and both national and civilian entities maintain vigilance against Western acquisition behavior, and they can’t rely on metaphorical knives anymore; their methods are becoming increasingly fierce.

This time, Kenneth Osborne is facing a legal-level confrontation.

Nathan Sheldon was interested in this matter also because Kenneth Osborne’s revealed technical talent is exceedingly rare.

The Sheldon Consortium mainly deals in investments, and they consciously nurture their domestic ”unicorn” companies.

The three were so engrossed in their conversation that they didn’t notice Ruby Sheldon had already fallen asleep, leaning on Nathan Sheldon’s shoulder.

Nathan Sheldon gently put her on a resting bed inside the compartment, then came out to continue chatting.

By dawn the next day, they had discussed a preliminary cooperation agreement.

”Kenneth, I’ll have the legal department of Sheldon Investment draft a charter, acquiring some non-voting shares of your company, as initial support,” Nathan Sheldon shook hands with him. After a long night of discussion, they had grown quite familiar, with titles changing from Mr. Osborne to Kenneth.

Kenneth Osborne is not someone who quickly becomes familiar, but he didn’t need to correct anyone’s title, he replied with a smile: ”Thank you, Mr. Sheldon, for your support. I’ll be traveling abroad in a few days to contact some lawyers over there and conduct an on-site inspection.”

Nathan Sheldon laughed and said, ”Be cautious when you want to sue the other company. If you’re not careful, you might hire a traitor who sells your entire hand of cards to the opponent, and you’ll have nowhere to cry.”

Kenneth Osborne was stunned, ”Is this a thing? But they’re my hired lawyers, wouldn’t they be against the principles of lawyer ethics?! This would lead to the revocation of their license, wouldn’t it?”

Isn’t that western country known for strictly adhering to the ”spirit of contract”?

Nathan Sheldon chuckled, shaking his head, ”Of course not. You’re a foreigner, they have over a dozen national security acts that target situations like yours.”

”When there is a conflict of interest between nationals and foreigners, even the judges in court can lean towards the nationals, let alone a mere lawyer.”

”If they betray you and it’s related to national security, then according to the national security acts, they won’t bear any legal consequences. Instead, they will publicize their contribution to national interests, gaining political capital for pursuing a political career.”

”Rest assured, they will definitely hype up your technology as related to national security.”

”And in that country, most politicians come from a legal background. Do you understand?”

Kenneth Osborne indeed didn’t understand international politics; all his energy and intelligence were focused on artificial intelligence.

Almost breaking out in a cold sweat, he immediately dropped the idea of having Spring Spencer contact a renowned intellectual property lawyer in that country.

”Then I can only hire domestic lawyers? But can our country’s lawyers appear in foreign courts?”

Nathan Sheldon said: ”Our country’s lawyers also have foreign licenses, they can appear in court, but finding those particularly adept in language skills isn’t easy. However, with effort, they can be found.”

Marilyn immediately said: ”I know a few lawyers in this area; I’ll give you their business cards and resumes later.”

This is being well-prepared.

Kenneth Osborne couldn’t help but glance at her.

It’s their first meeting today, but Marilyn has been exceptionally good to him.

He didn’t think Marilyn had any inappropriate intentions towards him, because she gave him the feeling of more of a senior-to-junior care.

But why is Marilyn so good to him?

This thought flashed through Kenneth Osborne’s mind and was quickly interrupted by a notification sound suddenly coming from his phone.

He looked down at his phone and happened to see Lawrence Winters’ WeChat message: ”Meet me at the Civil Affairs Bureau, we’re getting a divorce.”

A buzzing sound filled Kenneth Osborne’s mind, his ability to think instantly shattered, his vision darkened in waves, and his body swayed several times.

”What’s wrong with you?” Marilyn immediately noticed his anomaly, even reached out to support his arm.
