Destined Entwining: Capturing My Devoted Beau

Chapter 812: Chapter 412: The Twists and Turns of Two People (Second Update)_2

Kenneth Osborne glanced at the screen and saw that it was just one street over from this residential complex, very close.

He hurried back to the car, started it, and drove over.

Lawrence Winters ran out after him, just in time to see Kenneth’s car disappear down a little path paved with colored pebbles at the entrance of the complex.

She was only one step away from catching up to him.

Lawrence clenched her fists in regret.

She lingered at the gate of the complex, wondering whether she should go back, get her car, and follow Kenneth to that three-bedroom place he’d bought.

She felt that Kenneth had probably gone back there.

As she was thinking this, she took out her phone and checked Kenneth’s location.

To her surprise, he had stopped not far from here and had not gone back to his own three-bedroom apartment.

Where was he going?

Lawrence pondered, then took out her phone to carefully check the location and followed the directions over.

She walked for only about ten minutes before reaching a street beside the residential complex.

She saw Kenneth’s eye-catching Tesla parked by the curb.

This was an entertainment strip next to the complex, with bars, lounges, KTVs, restaurants, as well as an oxygen bar and a gym.

Lawrence looked over them one by one and finally stopped in front of the oxygen bar.

The location on her phone showed that Kenneth should be here.

She walked over.

...

Kenneth arrived at the Starry Sky Oxygen Bar and was led into a semi-enclosed small private room.

He walked in and saw that there were actually three people inside.

A middle-aged woman in a professional suit, looking to be in her forties.

At the sight of him coming in, a flash of joy flickered across the woman’s face.

There was also a composed young man who looked to be nearly thirty.

The third was a young girl, none other than Ruby Sheldon he had met before.

Aside from Ruby, he didn’t know the other two.

Kenneth hesitated at the doorway, unsure if he had gone into the wrong private room.

The middle-aged woman stood up and said with a smile, ”You must be Kenneth Osborne? I’m Marilyn, I just called you.”

Kenneth came back to himself and smiled with a nod. ”Ms. Marilyn, right? I’m Kenneth Osborne. And these two are...?”

Ruby’s face was a sickly shade of pale; she looked very fragile, like the very first jasmine blossom of July on a branch—timid, unable to withstand wind, frost, or rain.

Marilyn quickly introduced them to him: ”This is Mr. Nathan Sheldon from Sheldon Investment. He’s the eldest son of Sheldon Investment’s chairman, Aiden Sheldon, and is currently a vice president at Sheldon Investment. This is his younger sister, Ruby Sheldon.”

Kenneth was even more surprised.

He knew that ”Sheldon Investment” was what people in the investment circle called the Sheldon Consortium, the investment conglomerate owned by the Sheldon Family, which ranked first on the national rich list.

Nathan Sheldon was actually Aiden Sheldon’s eldest son!

Kenneth had met Ryan Sheldon before; he was a somewhat flighty second-generation heir.

He hadn’t expected Nathan, Ryan’s older brother, to have a completely different air and bearing.

This was what an heir to a major consortium should look like.

Kenneth nodded and smiled at him.

Nathan also smiled and extended his hand. ”It’s an honor to meet you, Mr. Osborne. I’ve always worked in the branch offices below, and was only recently transferred to headquarters. I hope you’ll look after me in the future, Mr. Osborne.”

He was easygoing, his manner very amicable, without the slightest trace of the condescension typical of their class.

Kenneth shook his hand and said with a smile, ”You flatter me, Mr. Sheldon. I don’t dare accept such deference.”

Ruby watched Kenneth with a gentle smile and said softly, ”Kenneth, you can call me Betty. That’s what my family calls me.”

It was only then that Kenneth looked over at Ruby as well and gave her a small nod. ”Good evening, Miss Sheldon.”

”Kenneth, don’t be so formal. Just call me Betty. I felt an instant closeness when I first saw you. You don’t mind if I call you Kenneth, do you?” As she spoke, she twisted her fingers together; the tip of her slightly upturned nose moved faintly, as if she lacked confidence—quite different from how she’d been when he’d seen her before.

Kenneth was a little taken aback, but he kept his composure and said with a smile, ”You’re too kind, Miss Sheldon. If I really accepted that, it would be a bit too much.”

Only then did Nathan truly smile.

This Kenneth fellow didn’t take advantage of girls just because he had a good-looking face—that was more like it.

He gave Marilyn a small nod.

Today’s matter was something Marilyn had specially asked him to help with.

Marilyn was fairly familiar with his family and was a prodigy in the business world.

Their Sheldon Investment had once offered generous terms trying to poach her, but she had refused.

For some unknown reason, she had stayed with the Foster Consortium, serving as Mrs. Foster’s personal assistant.

After Marilyn told him about Kenneth, Nathan became very interested and decided to come meet him.
