Destined Entwining: Capturing My Devoted Beau

Chapter 810: Chapter 411: Is the End of the Road Dark or Bright?

”How do you know it will end in darkness? Maybe it will lead to brightness?” Lawrence Winters said nonchalantly.

”What if I asked you to choose?” Kenneth Osborne blurted out in anger, ”What if I asked you to choose between me and your family’s law firm?”

”Of course, my family’s law firm! That’s my family’s foundation for survival! I’d rather die than let it go!” Lawrence Winters blurted out as well.

Kenneth Osborne: ”...”

Though he was mentally prepared, hearing it directly from Lawrence Winters felt like having his heart stabbed several times.

Perhaps this defiant and stubborn girl will never truly consider others?

But what does he even matter?

In her heart, he probably isn’t as important as Edward Foster...

Kenneth Osborne felt a bit disheartened, yet when thinking of Edward Foster, he couldn’t help but feel deep jealousy and unwillingness.

He suddenly felt tired, as if there was a burden of a thousand pounds that he couldn’t carry.

He said flatly, ”Alright, I know your choice. Since we’re both so busy, let’s take some time apart. After we’re done and have calmed down, we can think about our future together.”

Lawrence Winters was stunned, ”What did you say? Time apart? Our future?”

”Yeah, I said let’s take some time apart. Anyway, whether I’m home or not, you don’t notice or care. It’s unnecessary. Our current state is already like being apart, isn’t it?”

Kenneth Osborne looked at her, a deep sorrow flashed through his eyes.

Lawrence Winters stared at him, speechless.

She couldn’t believe her ears.

Kenneth Osborne!

The childhood friend she had known since the age of three, actually said they should take time apart!

She angrily exclaimed, ”...But we’re already married! What do you mean by time apart?! Breaking up or...”

In that moment, she almost said the word ”divorce.”

Kenneth Osborne lowered his gaze and said nonchalantly, ”...I just mean some time apart to calm down, it’s not as serious as you think.”

He had many things to do, requiring all his focus and attention to win this battle.

Lawrence Winters didn’t heed his advice, so he chose the peace of not seeing it.

Otherwise, he’d worry that he might die young from the everyday anger.

Lawrence Winters was at a loss, she wanted to refuse but didn’t want to compromise.

She didn’t understand how things had come to this point.

”...Kenneth, actually my work doesn’t conflict with yours... Why do you insist on making me choose? I... I really love the profession of Heavenly Master...”

Kenneth Osborne raised his hand to signal her to stop talking and said calmly, ”I know, to you, Heavenly Master is just a profession. But Nora, do you know that Heavenly Master is not a profession recognized by modern society? It’s always been an unorthodox field. Maybe not exactly ’path of evil,’ but it’s a mixed bag with waters too deep. Nora, I’m advising you one last time, while you can still get out.”

Lawrence Winters looked at him quietly for a long time, but finally shook her head, ”Kenneth, no. I’ve been in this field since childhood; no matter how deep, it won’t drown me. If anyone in the world deserves the position of ’Great Heavenly Master of the Celestial Master Sect,’ it would be me. Not even my master or grandmaster achieved what I have.”

”Ha, you really are confident.” Kenneth Osborne took a deep breath and wiped his face casually, ”As long as you’re happy, I won’t interfere. I’m leaving, I’ve got cases to deal with, take care of yourself.”

As he spoke, he turned and left Lawrence Winters’ room, returned to his own room, packed his computer bag, and left.

Lawrence Winters heard him leave, a strong sense of reluctance filled her heart, as if something important was being forcibly taken from her.

She spent some anxious moments in her room, unsure if she should follow him.

Unable to decide, she took out her Big Five Emperors Coins, threw them on the ground six times, and got the sixty-fourth hexagram, Ming Yi hexagram, with Phoenix spreading its wings, abandoning light for darkness.

The first line, the first-sixth, states, ”Humble gentleman, risking crossing a great river, brings good fortune.”

Though the hexagram was not great, the line was extremely lucky, suggesting that a humble gentleman would gain great benefits through taking risks.

Just what Lawrence Winters wished for.

Cheered by this, she quickly put away the Five Emperors Coins and rushed out to chase after him.
