Chapter 546: Chapter 294: Learned Her Lesson (First Update, Please Vote for Monthly Ticket)

Lawrence Winters’ face darkened, and he said calmly, ”It’s because of this Blake Leaf that I’m in this mess.”

He glanced at his arm, just freed from a cast, and said resentfully.

Kenneth Osborne thought to himself that if you weren’t so reckless, you wouldn’t have been hurt so badly. Helping a friend is a good thing, but how to help requires some thought.

But he wouldn’t say it so directly now.

Last time, he overestimated his position in Lawrence Winters’ heart, almost causing a breakup.

Now he learned his lesson and said with a smile, ”So don’t you want to see what will become of him? Seeing him building his high towers, seeing him feasting with guests, seeing his tower fall.”

”I only want to see his tower fall.” Lawrence Winters snorted, recalling how Three Billion Sister nearly had a stroke of bad luck that day, reaffirming his view: ”That’s why women shouldn’t take relationships between men and women too seriously. They should find their own joy and live happily. Otherwise, wasting your life on an unworthy man, your parents really raised you in vain.”

Kenneth Osborne: ”...”

That wasn’t wrong, he had advised his own sister the same way before.

But hearing his beloved woman say such things in front of him, he had mixed feelings.

Kenneth Osborne paused and awkwardly changed the angle, saying, ”The Spencer Family invited many guests this time, and it’s said that big stars from the entertainment circle will perform. Don’t you want to have a look?”

Lawrence Winters was a bit interested, ”So grand? Isn’t Blake Leaf marrying into the family? Is the Spencer Family really willing to spend so much money?”

”Because he’s marrying into the family, they need to make a big deal out of it...” Kenneth Osborne said meaningfully, ”I suggest you come with me to watch the show, otherwise you got hurt for nothing.”

”What you said makes sense.” Lawrence Winters’ curiosity finally got the better of him, he nodded, ”Then I’ll go back and ask Mom and Uncle. If they agree, I’ll go with you.”

”Yes, that’s the right thing to do.” Kenneth Osborne said, leaning over to unbuckle Lawrence Winters’ seatbelt and giving him a peck on the cheek.

Lawrence Winters returned the kiss generously, patted his face, and then opened the car door to get out, acting as if he was the one in charge.

Kenneth Osborne shook his head with a mix of amusement and helplessness, watching him walk into the building before driving off.

Lawrence Winters got home, seeing Nick Zeller and the old Daoist sitting in the living room sipping tea and playing chess, while Gabrielle Winters was nowhere in sight. Instinctively, he asked, ”Uncle, Master Teacher, where’s Mom?”

”She went out earlier, probably went to the supermarket to buy something.” Nick Zeller said without looking up, placing a knight on the chessboard.

Lawrence Winters was relieved, sat down next to Nick Zeller, and while watching him and the old Daoist play chess, he said, ”Uncle, Brother Kenneth just told me, in a few days, he wants me to go with him to the Southern Region to attend Blake Leaf and Summer Spencer’s wedding. Do you think I can go?”

Nick Zeller put down the chess piece in his hand, turned his head to look at him, and frowned, ”You’re going with Kenneth? In what capacity? As his fiancée?”

He glanced at Lawrence Winters’ left hand, where the engagement ring had long since been removed.

Lawrence Winters instinctively hid his left hand behind him, bravely saying, ”Can’t I just go as a friend?”

Nick Zeller snorted, ”In this kind of occasion, going in pairs means either a couple or a spouse. What are friends? How awkward, just put the ring back on... is that what you call a tiff? I don’t even think it qualifies as a drizzle.”

Lawrence Winters blushed and tried to salvage his dignity, ”Well, actually, I’m at fault too. Brother Kenneth meant well, but his method was wrong. I didn’t go to him; he came to me first.”

Nick Zeller: ”...”

He wanted to say something else, but the old Daoist coughed and said with a smile, ”Lawrence is right, as long as he makes the first move, we should take the opportunity, unless you don’t want to be with him, right?”

”Exactly, exactly!” Lawrence Winters nearly applauded for the old Daoist, ”That’s what I meant! Master Teacher, you understand me! Master Teacher, let me be your disciple; I’m better than Uncle!”

Nick Zeller immediately shouted, ”Lawrence, you’re aiming to bump up levels and disgrace your master, huh? Just pack up your things, and I’ll take you in a few days. Don’t let Kenneth have too much fun!”

”Ah? You’re going too?!” Lawrence Winters was truly surprised, ”Didn’t you say you’d ignore Mr. Spencer?”

”He personally wrote me an invitation and kept calling, though I didn’t answer, it was quite annoying.” Nick Zeller said casually, ”But if you want to go, I can take you to see the fun, better than Kenneth taking you.”
