Destined Entwining: Capturing My Devoted Beau

Chapter 543: Chapter 292: This Terrifying Possessiveness

She looked at the soup in her bowl, unsure of how she felt inside.

The soup was indeed good, but if it was made by Kenneth Osborne... Should she eat it or not?

Lawrence Winters hesitated a little.

If she had known earlier that Kenneth made it, she wouldn’t have taken a bite and would definitely have resisted.

They were in the middle of a quarrel, and whoever caved first would be the loser.

But the problem was, she had already tasted it before she knew.

One important indicator of whether something is delicious is whether you can give it up after tasting it.

The standard of this soup was above ”even if it’s made by an enemy, you should finish it first before settling the score.”

Lawrence Winters thought for a moment and decided to finish it first and talk later.

The stew pot was very small, only enough for two small bowls of soup.

Lawrence leisurely finished the first bowl, then drank the second bowl.

After finishing, she wiped her mouth and said, ”If Kenneth sends food over again, you guys need to tell me first.”

”Why tell you beforehand?” Nick Zeller knocked the empty stew pot with his chopsticks.

”If you tell me first, I won’t eat it.” Lawrence acted very dignified, ”He better not think he can just give a slap and then a sweet date! I’m not a little puppy, I won’t fall for it!”

Since Lawrence brought it up, Gabrielle Winters and Nick Zeller exchanged a glance and then looked away.

They thought it was a good time to ask.

Gabrielle feigned surprise and said, ”A slap? Did Kenneth actually lay a hand on you? Lawrence, you can’t be with a man who hits, he might commit domestic violence.”

Lawrence raised an eyebrow and said smugly, ”I’m not afraid; I can hit back! But Kenneth didn’t actually slap me; I was just making an analogy.”

”What kind of analogy requires such words?” Nick chipped in at just the right moment.

Lawrence responded confidently, ”We had a fight!”

”Oh? A fight? That’s rare. Kenneth treats you so well, and you still fight?” Gabrielle slowly tried to coax more details out of her.

Lawrence felt there was nothing much to say on this topic, so she cautiously monitored Gabrielle and said, ”Mom, you’re not trying to pry into my love life, are you? It’s my privacy.”

Gabrielle was taken aback and retorted irritably, ”Who wants to know your love life details? I just want to know why you had a fight! Kenneth suddenly moved out; there must be a reason, right?”

”There is a reason, but I don’t want to say.” For once, Lawrence answered honestly without making up excuses.

Nick, understanding Lawrence better, smiled and mediated, ”Sis, Lawrence has grown up. You always tell me not to meddle in the youngsters’ affairs.”

”I’m not trying to meddle.” Gabrielle sighed, ”But seeing them at odds makes me uncomfortable. Can’t you guys just sit down and talk it over? Who knows how to handle everything right the first time they fall in love? But if you don’t communicate, misunderstandings will arise just like that.”

However, Lawrence didn’t share Gabrielle’s views.

She propped her head up with her hand and indifferently said, ”What’s there to communicate about? Sometimes I don’t even know what I’m thinking; what’s the point of communicating with someone else? Does being in a relationship mean you also have to moonlight as a psychologist? It’s exhausting...—I don’t want that.”

This perspective on love was completely different from Gabrielle’s, who had never examined love from this angle, but when she thought about it, it made some sense.

Gabrielle frowned, seemingly deep in thought.

Nick glanced at Gabrielle, smiled, and asked Lawrence, ”Then what do you want in a relationship?”

”Of course, to be happy with him.” Lawrence touched her injured arm and exclaimed energetically, ”If being together isn’t as happy as being alone, why should I be with him?”

”This time he made me unhappy, so I’m going to throw a fit and ignore him. —Unless he admits he’s wrong and begs for forgiveness first.”

Nick listened with approval and discreetly gave Lawrence a thumbs-up under the table, mouthing ”Well said!”

The old Daoist also praised her, ”That’s right! We of the Celestial Path Sect are more carefree than others. If it fits, come together; if not, go separate ways. Don’t force yourself. Forced feelings won’t last long; only naturally flowing feelings can endure.”

Lawrence applauded enthusiastically, ”Master Ancestor, you’re amazing! I love that saying. Can I get the rights to post it on my social media?!”

She then asked the old Daoist, ”Master Ancestor, how many girlfriends have you had?”

The old Daoist blushed, puffed out his cheeks, and glared at her, ”You cheeky girl! You think you can act so high and mighty with me? The Master Ancestor’s personal love life isn’t for you to covet! —I have my own privacy too!”

”Alright, alright!” Lawrence giggled, covering her mouth, and deliberately whispered loud enough for everyone to hear, ”...I guess the Master Ancestor might not have had a single girlfriend... because he’s too carefree. Those who excel in theory often lack practical experience.”

Nick scolded Lawrence softly, ”Nonsense!” while secretly giving her a thumbs-up again under the table.

Lawrence knew she had guessed correctly, but adhering to the principle of ”seeing but not exposing,” she picked up her phone and started posting on social media.

This time, she posted what the old Daoist just said.

# Forced feelings won’t last long; only naturally flowing feelings can endure.#

Paired with the image of the stew pot she had just finished.

Edward Foster was again the first to like and comment.

[Edward]: Wow! So philosophical! Great minds think alike!

At this moment, Kenneth Osborne also commented, although he didn’t like the post.

[Kenneth]: Finish the soup and get some sleep early, it’s good for your recovery. If you’re full, you won’t overthink.

Lawrence didn’t expect Kenneth to reply voluntarily, her heart pounded, and she couldn’t help but reply to him.

[Lawrence] replied to [Kenneth]: I won’t! I’m going to stay up late! I’m going to overthink!

Kenneth smiled and replied.

[Kenneth] replied to [Lawrence]: Be good, rest well; I’ll visit you tomorrow.

Lawrence’s eyes immediately sparkled with joy.

This proved Kenneth had taken the initiative to make peace!

Meanwhile, Edward watched this scene, feeling as if his heart was being stabbed.

He sat in his bedroom, kicked his footstool away, and replied to Kenneth through gritted teeth.

[Edward] replied to [Kenneth]: Kenneth Osborne, you’re despicable! Did you add me on WeChat this afternoon just to flaunt your relationship in front of me?! Angry.JPG.
