Destined Entwining: Capturing My Devoted Beau

Chapter 509: Chapter 275: With You by My Side (Second Update)

The group of people quietly revealed the knives in their hands and chased after Edward Foster.

Strangely, even though they saw Edward not far ahead, the bustling crowd made it difficult to approach Edward and his group.

Clearly, the distance wasn’t far, yet it felt like they had run a long way and soon they were out of breath.

Besides, every member of the Foster Family was accompanied by bodyguards.

The people wielding knives expended a great deal of effort and just as they were about to catch up with Edward Foster, they were spotted by the Foster’s bodyguards.

A group of men in black suits pounced on them, swiftly pinning the group to the ground.

Soon, the cinema also called the police, and the group was taken to the station.

A crisis was averted in the blink of an eye.

Edward Foster walked in while happily talking to his father, oblivious to the danger he had been in.

He held a bouquet of flowers in one hand and chatted with his dad as they entered the cinema together.

Because they were delayed outside for a bit, most of the people inside were already seated.

The Sheldon Family and the Foster Family sat in the best seats in the house.

Lawrence Winters followed Lucas Harlow and sat in the front row.

Edward Foster really wanted to run to the front and sit with Lawrence Winters and Lucas Harlow, but his father wouldn’t let him, mockingly saying, ”Lucas is allergic to lily pollen, and you’re holding them? Aren’t you worried you’ll make the headlines tomorrow?”

”What’s wrong with holding a bouquet?” Edward Foster was unconcerned, yet he didn’t dare just toss it aside. He quickly glanced over at the Sheldon Family seated on the other side, ultimately not daring to place it on the ground. So he said sheepishly, ”...I’m afraid little Princess Sheldon will cry again...”

When Ruby Sheldon was sobbing earlier, Gabriel Foster also saw it.

Having known Aiden Sheldon for years, aware of how precious his daughter is to him, he reluctantly said, ”Fine, you can throw it away when you get back.”

Today Edward Foster’s mom wasn’t there; accompanying Gabriel Foster to the premiere was his longtime secretary, Ella Zimmerman.

Seeing the father and son at a loss over a bouquet of lilies, Ella Zimmerman found it funny. She reached out to Edward Foster with a smile and said, ”Young Mr. Foster, give me the flowers, and I’ll put them away for you.”

”That’s wonderful! Thank you, Aunt Ella!” Edward Foster eagerly handed the flowers over.

Ella Zimmerman nodded with a smile and placed the bouquet into her large briefcase.

Just then, her phone in the briefcase started vibrating.

She didn’t notice at first until she placed the flowers in the bag and realized someone was calling.

Since the movie hadn’t started yet, she took out her phone to check and saw that it was the head of Edward’s security calling, so she quickly answered and asked in a low voice, ”Old Tang, what’s up?”

Old Tang recounted the situation outside and also mentioned that those disguised as movie characters had been taken away by the police.

Ella Zimmerman, always by Gabriel Foster’s side, hadn’t noticed this drama.

She gasped softly and whispered, ”Was anyone hurt?”

”No, it’s just that some people got hit in the face with pepper spray and hurt their eyes. They’ve all been taken to the hospital. I’ve already contacted the police, and they’re interrogating the attackers. However...” Old Tang hesitated, then said, ”However, they were bribed and seemed unaware of who their target was.”

”Didn’t know who but followed after our Young Mr. Foster?” Ella Zimmerman was a little angry. ”What’s the police doing? Can’t they figure this out?”

”It’s not that they can’t figure it out, but those people said the person who hired them contacted them online, only telling them to attack a man in a white suit holding lilies.”

Ella Zimmerman suddenly remembered the lilies in Edward Foster’s hands, definitely meant for Lucas Harlow!

It was Lawrence Winters who said Lucas was allergic to pollen, and had Lucas hand the flowers to Edward Foster!

So the target was originally Lucas Harlow?

Ella Zimmerman paused but didn’t blame Old Tang, saying, ”I understand, continue following up with the police to see if we can find out who’s behind this.”

After hanging up, she nudged Gabriel Foster gently.

Gabriel Foster looked over, and she said softly, ”There was an attempt to assault Young Mr. Foster outside earlier, but the security handled it and sent them to the police station.”

Gabriel Foster furrowed his brow, ”Assault on Edward? Who was it? Why? Did this boy get into trouble again?”

”Young Mr. Foster is smart and filial, when has he ever caused trouble?” Ella Zimmerman chuckled in surprise, ”He got blamed for someone else.”

She glanced in the direction of Lucas Harlow in the front row, ”It was actually intended for him... but they mistook the target.”

”Mistook the target? How could they mistake the target?” Gabriel Foster was puzzled.

”...The attackers said their target was a man in a white suit holding lilies. Both Young Mr. Foster and Mr. Harlow were in white suits today, the only difference being the lilies. Originally, they were in Mr. Harlow’s hands, but because Ms. Winters said Mr. Harlow was allergic to pollen, she had him pass the lilies to Young Mr. Foster, resulting in this unexpected trouble today.”

Ella Zimmerman succinctly relayed what she knew.

Gabriel Foster nonchalantly said, ”Just a coincidence. Who would dare attack Lucas? — Probably Edward causing trouble again somewhere; I’ll ask him when we get home after the premiere.”

A completely unconcerned look.

Ella Zimmerman quickly glanced at him and then at Young Mr. Foster, who seemed equally carefree, sighing and shaking her head.

...

Lucas Harlow sat in the front row with Lawrence Winters.

He was more aware than Edward Foster, and due to his background, the commotion outside didn’t seem unfamiliar to him.

And he really saw the actions of those ”temporary actors,” and also saw the Foster Family’s bodyguards swiftly deal with those people.

Lucas Harlow lightly nudged Lawrence Winters with his elbow.

”What’s up?” Lawrence Winters turned his head, looking at him inquisitively.

Lucas Harlow whispered, ”...Just now I saw those people chasing Edward; not sure what they wanted to do.”

He still doesn’t know that Edward Foster was taking the fall for him.

Lawrence Winters shrugged indifferently, ”Why worry about them? Edward has so many bodyguards over there, it’s not our concern.”

Honestly, if it weren’t for fear of revenge from Aiden Sheldon, she would wholeheartedly shift the blame onto the Sheldon Family instead of Edward.

The reason is simple: the Sheldon Family has more bodyguards, and they appear smarter and more capable. Earlier, she saw a Foster Family bodyguard courteously lighting a cigarette for a Sheldon Family bodyguard.

The gaze of that Foster Family bodyguard toward the Sheldon Family bodyguard was sheer submission and awe of the weak toward the strong.

Meanwhile, they had nothing at all, not even seeing that assistant Jason.

Lawrence Winters thought of Jason, looked around, and asked Lucas Harlow, ”Where’s Jason? Why haven’t I seen him?”

”I sent him back. In such a setting, it’s best he doesn’t appear,” Lucas Harlow said with a smile. ”Anyway, I have you with me.”

”Oh, that’s good,” Lawrence Winters nodded. Initially, she was worried Jason might meet with an accident. Now knowing Lucas Harlow sent him away early, she felt relieved.

Lucas Harlow noticed Lawrence Winters didn’t continue the conversation, feeling slightly disappointed, but soon the movie began, and his attention turned to the film.

For an actor passionate about the art of performing, watching one’s work on the big screen is truly a joyous and inspiring experience.

...

Autumn Stetford wasn’t interested in the movie at all; she purely came to support it because of Ruby Sheldon.

Aiden Sheldon felt the same way.

He turned his head to look at Ruby Sheldon, sitting between him and Autumn Stetford, seeing her already focused on the movie, a glistening tear seemingly still on her cheek.

Aiden Sheldon sighed internally, rubbed his forehead, and took out a tissue from his pocket to gently wipe Ruby Sheldon’s face.

Ruby Sheldon was startled, turned and saw Aiden Sheldon, then smiled sweetly at him, even nuzzling her head into Aiden Sheldon’s palm, like a cute and obedient puppy.

Aiden Sheldon instantly felt overwhelmed with affection, ruffled Ruby Sheldon’s hair.

Looking up, his gaze inevitably landed on Lawrence Winters sitting beside Lucas Harlow, and Lucas Harlow slightly turned toward Lawrence, speaking.

From their angle, one could see Lucas Harlow’s profile and his slightly curved lips, surprisingly exuding a touch of tenderness and affection.

Ruby Sheldon followed his gaze and saw this scene too.

She cheerfully said, ”Daddy, Uncle really likes sister Lawrence... she likes Uncle too, right? Am I going to have an aunt soon?”

Aiden Sheldon snorted, squinting slightly.

If he wasn’t mistaken, Lawrence Winters had a small diamond ring on her left middle finger.

The diamond was so tiny that you’d need a magnifying glass to see it clearly.

Just a few days and engaged already?

With Lucas Harlow?

Certainly not.

Aiden Sheldon first dismissed this possibility because he knew clearly about Lucas Harlow’s background; he wouldn’t casually get engaged to an ordinary woman.

So it’s not Lucas Harlow, but... Kenneth Osborne?

Aiden Sheldon’s left lip corner also curved into a mocking arc.

Pretty quick, huh...

You definitely want to lock down such a good man, right?

Let’s see if you can lock him down.

Aiden Sheldon had someone investigate Kenneth Osborne’s company background.

AI Vision Promise, a small Genesis Enterprise, once received a hundred million investment from SSA Private Equity, and later earned a billion from the Spencer Group.

The company is small, but the appetite is large.

Aiden Sheldon’s gaze again swept over Lawrence Winters’ back, filled with an indescribable irritation.

He thought for a moment, then spoke across Ruby Sheldon to Autumn Stetford on the other side, ”It’s a bit stuffy here, I’m going out for some air.”

Autumn Stetford quickly said, ”Are you alright? Do you need to go back and see the family doctor?”

”I’m fine, probably just too many people here.” Aiden Sheldon smiled, ”I’m not comfortable in this sort of setting; leave such things to Ethan next time.”

His younger brother, Ethan Sheldon, is now the CEO of the Sheldon Consortium, while he is the chairman; they have different responsibilities.

Autumn Stetford’s eyes dimmed slightly but still nodded, ”Okay.”

Aiden Sheldon got up from his seat and quickly walked out.
