Destined Entwining: Capturing My Devoted Beau

Chapter 517: Chapter 279: How Are You Going to Thank Me? (Second Update)

Autumn Stetford furrowed her brow.

This Lawrence Winters seems to be appearing around them far too frequently, is it really just a coincidence?

She withdrew her gaze and looked at Ruby Sheldon, who was also following her father’s gaze outside the car window at the time.

Their car was already speeding ahead, and Ruby Sheldon didn’t see Lawrence Winters jogging, she only saw a fleeting view of a mottled brick wall, covered with ivy.

After delivering breakfast, Lawrence Winters sat down for breakfast with the family. After Kenneth Osborne and Nick Zeller left, Gabrielle Winters complained of a headache, feeling a bit like she had a cold, and went back to her room to lie down.

Lawrence Winters hurried to find some cold medicine in the house, only to discover they were all out.

So she immediately ran out of the neighborhood to the nearest pharmacy to buy some medicine.

Being in a rush, she took a shortcut and ran quickly to the pharmacy.

And on this very path, she unexpectedly encountered the Sheldon Family’s custom extended Rolls-Royce Phantom.

Lawrence Winters didn’t pay attention, after all, she was running on the sidewalk, and they couldn’t drive onto the sidewalk.

She quickly arrived at the pharmacy entrance, went inside, and bought a bag full of essential medicine for their family’s emergency kit.

Back home, Gabrielle Winters was already asleep on the bed.

Lawrence poured some warm water, woke Gabrielle up, and had her take two tablets of daytime cold medicine, then messaged Edward Foster to ask for leave, saying her mom was sick and she needed to stay home to care for her.

Edward Foster replied immediately: It’s okay, take care of yourself too, don’t worry about work.

Lawrence Winters felt warmth in her heart and replied: Thank you, Edward, I will.

She even sent a cute little bunny smiling emoji.

...

Kenneth Osborne arrived at the office and only then received Lawrence Winters’ WeChat message saying her mom was sick and she was staying home to take care of her, taking the day off work.

Kenneth Osborne quickly called her, ”Nora, are you alright?”

Lawrence tiptoed out of Gabrielle’s room, quietly closing the door, holding her phone, and talked to Kenneth, ”I’m fine. Mom just took her medicine and went to sleep. Once she’s sweated and the fever breaks, I’ll feel relieved.”

Kenneth comforted her for a while, saying, ”If anything happens, call me immediately, don’t handle it alone.”

”Got it.” Lawrence felt sweetness in her heart. Although Kenneth had always cared for her like this before, now that they were truly engaged, she found the feeling different.

Putting down the phone, Kenneth looked up to see Blake Leaf standing at his office door.

Kenneth didn’t know how long Blake had been standing there, pondering in his mind, but still smiled and said, ”Good morning, come in and sit down.”

Blake Leaf walked in with a smile, casually sat on the chair opposite Kenneth’s desk, and said, ”Mr. Osborne, were you just talking to Lawrence?”

”Of course, who else would I talk to like that?” Kenneth chuckled, ”By the way, I haven’t seen you in contact with Joyce lately, Nora mentioned a while ago about getting everyone together for hotpot.”

Blake’s expression suddenly became a bit uneasy.

He cleared his throat, shifted in his chair, and said awkwardly, ”I’ve been too busy lately, Joyce has been busy too, it’s been a while since we’ve been in touch.”

Kenneth gave him a look.

Before Kenneth could speak, Blake quickly changed the subject and said, ”Mr. Osborne, I’m not here to talk about personal matters. It’s work hours, let’s discuss business, shall we?”

Kenneth smirked slightly, adopting a formal tone, ”Alright, let’s talk business, what do you have?”

Blake felt a bit uncomfortable again, his gaze dimmed before he said, ”Mr. Osborne, do you have any issues with me?”

Kenneth: ”...”

He neither confirmed nor denied, simply said, ”Blake, if you’re here to discuss the results of the employee performance mid-term assessment, you should look for your supervisor.”

Blake Leaf was Kenneth’s first employee, but unfortunately, he had used his intelligence elsewhere.

Still, Kenneth didn’t have high hopes for him.

He was far less talented than Kenneth himself.

And he was much less diligent than the late Joyce Shaw.

Kenneth gave Blake a job opportunity purely for the sake of Lawrence Winters, helping out Lawrence in front of her roommate, Joyce.

But Blake seemed to have never clearly recognized his own status and position.

Sure enough, Blake frowned and said, ”Mr. Osborne, we’re not just ordinary friends, so why burn bridges after crossing the river?”

Kenneth’s smile faded a bit, he raised an eyebrow, ”Burning bridges after crossing the river? What do you mean by that? I don’t understand?”
