Destined Entwining: Capturing My Devoted Beau

Chapter 502: Chapter 271: For My Weaker Self of Years Past (Part 3)

Cameron Spencer stood up, walked over to sit beside Nick Zeller, lifted his hand, wanting to pat him on the shoulder, but hesitated for a long time and eventually put his hand down.

”Nick, the only person I’ve let down in this life is your mom.”

”I didn’t expect her to be gone already.” Cameron closed his eyes, ”I can only repay the debt I owe her to you.”

”Nick, come back, come to my side. I’ll change your last name, follow me, and you’ll be my eldest son, Cameron Spencer’s son. Your mother was my first wife, although not many people know, but the civil affairs bureau does.”

Nick Zeller wiped away a tear and sneered, ”Aren’t you afraid of the Rayner family? — Ruby Rayner is still staying in your family temple, aren’t you afraid she’ll jump out and get angry with you?”

”She dares?!” Cameron said harshly, ”I was wrong at the time, but I’m telling you, if the chance came again, I would still choose to do it! However, I would handle things with Eleanor more carefully, so she wouldn’t be bullied by others...”

It was as if Nick Zeller had cold water poured all over him.

The color drained completely from his face as he pushed Cameron away and stood up, saying in a deep voice, ”So that’s it, we’re truly on different paths and cannot work together.”

”Nick, you’re in your forties, how can you still be so naive?” Cameron frowned, ”I originally thought you were the most like me of all my children.”

”You’re wrong, I am like no one, I am myself. I only acknowledge my adoptive father and mother.” Nick Zeller took a deep breath and pointed toward the elevator, ”Alright, Mr. Spencer, you’ve said what you had to say.”

”What happened today, only you, I, the heavens, and the earth will know, how about it?”

Cameron didn’t expect it to be Nick who first suggested that others shouldn’t know.

Although this was what he thought too, he was unhappy when Nick said it, narrowing his eyes as he asked, ”...Why? Is it embarrassing to be my son?”

Nick Zeller nodded earnestly, ”Very embarrassing, it truly is embarrassing.”

”You—!” Cameron was furious, almost smashing a teacup at Nick, ”How dare you say that?! You unfilial son!”

”Mr. Spencer, mind your words. You’ve never fulfilled any parental responsibilities towards me, I have no obligation to show you any filial piety.” Nick crossed his arms, feeling suddenly at ease.

A burden that had weighed on his heart for nearly forty years was lifted just like that, his mind surprisingly calm and composed.

Cameron, who had previously maintained a cool demeanor in observing Nick, was now shaking with anger at his attitude.

And he couldn’t find a single word to refute him.

”Mr. Spencer, it’s important to have self-awareness. The number of women you’ve had isn’t even the issue; each one has given you children. — So many half-siblings, can you truly take care of them all?” Nick sneered and shook his head.

”You have an eldest son in his forties and a little son who’s less than a year old.”

”And in between, there was an adult son and two adult daughters.”

”Your youngest son could be the grandchild of the eldest son. Do you think this is something to be proud of? Do you think I’d be so pleased to be your son that I’d immediately kneel down and call you father?”

Having regained composure, Nick’s presence was overwhelming, with one sarcastic remark after another, making Cameron feel his blood pressure rise instantly.

He clutched his chest, gasping for breath, and with trembling hands pulled out a small bottle of medicine from his pocket, unscrewed the cap, and swallowed a few pills.

Although Nick disliked him, seeing him almost fall ill from anger restrained him somewhat, and he stopped speaking.

Not until Cameron’s complexion returned did Nick raise his hand again and say, ”Alright, our conversation ends here, you’re free to go.”

Cameron struggled to calm himself down and also said, ”Alright, today was our first candid conversation as father and son, I understand your misunderstandings and grievances against me, and I don’t blame you.”

”After all, I was indeed wrong back then, and I owe your mother and you.”

”You can come find me when you figure it out. This is my business card, only given to close family and friends.”

Cameron left a business card with only a phone number, his private number.

Nick didn’t even glance at it.

As Cameron’s figure disappeared into the elevator, Nick picked up the card, casually tore it to pieces, and threw it into the living room trash can.

Sitting alone in the living room, he suddenly felt an overwhelming fatigue, leaned back on the sofa, and covered his face with his hands.

It was then he heard Gabrielle Winters’ voice from behind him, ”Big brother, are you okay? I didn’t mean to... I was just woken up by your voices...”
