Destined Entwining: Capturing My Devoted Beau

Chapter 524: Chapter 282: My Friend Would Take a Knife for Me (Part 2)

The men hiding behind the parked cars on either side exchanged glances and simply walked out from behind the cars.

Each held a foot-long watermelon knife in their hand.

The one leading them was the man who had drugged the woman at the bar earlier, and was tricked by Lawrence Winters into admitting he was ”a scumbag.”

He slapped the blade of the foot-long watermelon knife against his palm, grinning maliciously, ”Since you’re willing to risk yourself for a friend, you’ll have to play with us instead today!”

He then slowly raised his hand, pointing the knife at Lawrence Winters’ face, ”Such a pretty face, what if I accidentally cut it? How would that be? Right? If you don’t want scars, you better follow us obediently!”

Lawrence squinted and said, ”You’re so bold? Aren’t you afraid there’s surveillance here?”

The men snickered, winking, ”Surveillance? How can we get things done if the cameras aren’t disabled first?!”

Knowing the surveillance here was ineffective, Lawrence was completely relieved.

She calmly watched the four men approaching from left and right, all holding watermelon knives.

There should also be a man behind her, approaching with a knife.

Though she didn’t turn around, the streetlight behind her illuminated the man’s figure closing in.

She wasn’t worried about the four in front but was unsure of the distance with the one behind, so a preemptive strike was better!

Her hand swiftly reached for her waist, and the next moment, the decorative chain belt on her leather pants was pulled out.

Under the streetlight, the chain belt emitted a silvery glow, looking surprisingly substantial.

The four men in front instinctively backed off a step.

Lawrence chose to wear this leather outfit today primarily because of the chain-like belt.

It’s made of solid steel, not just decorative, but a true weapon, resembling a chain mace, except more refined and better looking.

Lawrence flicked her right hand, first swinging the chain backward.

With a dull thud, the man behind failed to dodge and was struck on the arm by the small hammer on the chain.

The watermelon knife almost dropped to the ground.

Lawrence simultaneously swung the chain back, sweeping toward the watermelon knives held by the four men in front.

Two managed to dodge while the other two were struck on the wrists, their knives clattering down.

The two who dodged then immediately lunged forward wielding their knives.

Yet, despite their formidable knives, they couldn’t get close to Lawrence who wielded her long chain.

Just a little closer and they’d be whipped by her chain, bruising and blackening their faces.

Gradually, Lawrence completely had them under control.

She realized this gang acted together, as proven by their coordination. It was evident they had victimized many women before, so she showed no mercy.

When the man behind recovered and charged forward, she deliberately slowed down, blocking with an arm, and got cut by his knife.

Blood gushed, staining her entire arm red, dripping to the ground.

Lawrence shouted, ”Ruffians! There are ruffians! Help! Help! Please call the police!”

She half-squatted, swinging the chain with more force, the hammer at the chain’s end whizzing as it aimed at the vital spots of those five men!

”Ah! Ah! Ah!”

The five men hadn’t expected her to attack such lethal places, immediately dropping their knives, clutching themselves as they rolled on the ground, screaming more agonizingly than Lawrence.

Lawrence opened her mouth, realizing she couldn’t out-scream the five of them, so she shut up, cradling her arm as she leaned against the front of her car, appearing panic-stricken.

Ryan Sheldon had noticed something happened to Lawrence Winters early on, and had also called the police.

Seeing Lawrence wielding the chain adeptly, he first locked the drugged woman in his car before rushing over to help, only to find Lawrence had already finished the ”battle.”

Those five men were on the ground, rolling and moaning, while Lawrence shivered alone before a car, showing none of her earlier heroics.

Ryan rubbed his eyes, thinking he was seeing things.

As he was planning to go over, Lawrence signaled him with her eyes.

Ryan immediately halted, and soon he heard sirens approaching; the police had arrived.

Ryan hurried forward, anxiously saying, ”You’re finally here! My friend is being attacked by five men alone and she’s bleeding profusely!”

Several police drew their guns and rushed forward.

They saw the five men rolling and groaning on the ground, nearly mistaking them as the victims of the attack!

Upon spotting a girl huddled before a car, trembling, surrounded by a pool of blood, they understood immediately.

One officer hurried over, saying to Lawrence, ”Miss, don’t be afraid; we’re the police. Someone reported the incident. Were you attacked?”

Lawrence shook her head frantically, tears rolling down uncontrollably—not feigned, because the wound on her arm hurt so much...

Her expression urgent and panicked, like a deer narrowly escaping predators in a forest, she cried, ”I didn’t... I didn’t kill them... I was defending myself! I was defending myself! I was defending myself!... There were five of them... Each had a knife! I’m scared... I’m so scared!”

She held her head with one hand, while her other arm hung limply, blood continuously seeping from her sleeve onto her pale hand.

The police quickly comforted her, ”We understand; we saw it happen. Don’t be frightened. We’ll get you to the hospital for treatment. Your arm is injured, bleeding too much isn’t good.”

Lawrence’s cries suddenly stopped.

In that moment, she was deeply frustrated.

Damn, she forgot about that.

The wound looked rather severe; she had to go to the hospital. How could she cover this up when she gets home?!

After all, she sneaked out from home at midnight...
