Destined Entwining: Capturing My Devoted Beau

Chapter 512: Chapter 276: Teaching You to Be a Decent Person (Part 3)

At 1 a.m., which is 1 p.m. in Country A, the investment community in Country A was suddenly bombarded with explosive news about MHB Corporation.

”MHB’s debt is about to mature! The current cash is insufficient to repay corporate debt! Directly threatens the ability to sustain operations!”

”MHB sparks an international dispute in the Strait of Country T! Fears of endless international claims!”

It was common knowledge that MHB’s corporate debt would mature mid-year.

But what everyone didn’t know was that the cash MHB held was actually insufficient to pay off the maturing corporate debt!

Moreover, the second news about international disputes and international claims only added to the uncertainty.

The stock market’s biggest fear is uncertainty!

While the cash flow in the first news might be negotiable, the ”international dispute” and ”international claims” in the second were enough to make many back off immediately.

In the stock market, backing off means selling off, selling off MHB Corporation’s stock!

Aiden Sheldon seized the opportunity to order the Sheldon Family’s overseas investment institutions to start short-selling MHB’s stock.

He began shorting at over fifty dollars, and within an hour, MHB’s stock price halved, dropping from over fifty to twenty-five dollars.

The halving of the stock price triggered many institutional investors’ sell-off thresholds, so computer-controlled programs began automatically selling off MHB’s stock.

MHB certainly couldn’t sit idly by as its stock plummeted.

Because many of their debts were collateralized by the stock, and if the stock’s market price fell below a certain level, they would need to immediately repay money to cover the loss!

But they already had limited cash and not enough money to enter the market to stabilize the stock price.

So they could only watch helplessly as the stock price plummeted.

Another hour passed, and their stock price was only ten dollars per share, immediately triggering the bank’s margin call line, compelling them to repay the bank immediately.

And this news was also discovered by many financial investment institutions, which made them more convinced of the previous news.

Major investment banks and investment funds also began selling off MHB’s stock.

As Aiden Sheldon continued selling high and covering low, by 3 p.m. Country A time, MHB’s stock price fell below one dollar, the company’s board urgently requested to suspend trading, and he had already made a net profit of fifty billion A currency, equivalent to five hundred billion in his own currency.

At the same time, Aiden Sheldon ordered the Wealth Real Estate Investment Trust Fund Company, controlled by the Sheldon Consortium, to immediately contact MHB’s head office to purchase all the controlling shares of the port in the Strait of Country T for ten billion A currency.

Ten billion A currency was exactly the amount MHB needed to immediately repay the bank for margin cover.

This proposal was something MHB Corporation simply couldn’t refuse.

Refusing meant they would be completely liquidated and bankrupted by the bank.

By 4 p.m. Country A time, MHB Corporation’s board convened an emergency meeting and agreed to transfer the controlling shares of the port in the Strait of Country T to the Wealth Real Estate Investment Trust Fund Company.

Because this port was abroad, it didn’t even require approval from Country A’s Congress and relevant departments.

Once the subsidiary company of the Sheldon Consortium transferred the initial deposit, the contract became officially effective.

Just after MHB’s head office sold its subsidiary port company in Country T, Aiden Sheldon immediately sent people to Country T to take over the port.

He sat in his private office in Capital City, facing the person in charge of MHB’s port in Country T through a video call, and said, ”This is my company now, please leave immediately.”

The person was a typical white man, polite on the surface but fundamentally looked down on other races.

During the video call, Aiden didn’t turn on his camera, so the person couldn’t see Aiden’s appearance, only hearing his voice.

The person said, with a facade of toughness but inwardly weak, ”...Don’t think you’ve won! Just wait and see!”

Aiden shrugged indifferently and said calmly, ”In business, talk business. If you can’t beat me in the market, don’t think you can win elsewhere. By the way, don’t let him leave just like that, detain him first. Let him go after the company’s account audit confirms there are no discrepancies.”

Such audits abroad could take months, often calculated in years, and definitely couldn’t be completed in just a few days.

At this moment, the man slumped back onto his seat, showing a look of despair.

Aiden ended the video call and immediately called his subordinates, instructing them to coordinate and release the three oil tankers detained at the port.

He waited tensely in front of the computer.

Until seven in the morning the next day, he received confirmation that the three oil tankers had successfully passed through the Strait of Country T and were now in international waters, he finally relaxed.

Stretching, he realized he was starving.

There was nothing to eat at home, and he couldn’t wait for anyone to deliver food.

Stuffing his key card into his pocket, he grabbed his coat and went downstairs to find something to eat outside the community.

He remembered that when he came over last night, he vaguely saw some decent-looking restaurants outside the community.

He wondered if they sold breakfast.

As he walked out of the building he lived in, about to exit the community, Aiden suddenly saw Lawrence Winters carrying a food box and humming a tune as he walked over from another path, seemingly also about to leave the community.

He blinked, almost thinking he was hallucinating from staying up all night.
