Destined Entwining: Capturing My Devoted Beau

Chapter 540: Chapter 291: I’m Just Telling the Truth (Third Update)

Kenneth Osborne curled the corner of his mouth, and with a bit of a mischievous air, said, ”Yes, it’s a spar. Surely, getting defeated can’t be called a one-sided beating, can it?”

This was obviously implying he one-sidedly beat up Edward Foster!

Ella Zimmerman was trembling with anger, wanting to reach out and grab Kenneth Osborne.

Kenneth, however, sidestepped her slightly and said blandly, ”Please step aside, Secretary Zhou. I don’t want to spar with a woman.”

Ella angrily retorted, ”Are you admitting that you hit someone? Are you going to hit me, a woman, too?”

”Whether I hit someone, you can ask Mr. Foster Jr.,” Kenneth stopped bickering with Ella and walked around her briskly, heading straight out.

Mrs. Foster completely ignored the exchange between Kenneth Osborne and Ella Zimmerman.

She simply took out a tissue, gently wiping the blood from the corner of Edward Foster’s mouth, saying, ”Go see the family doctor and get checked, just in case.”

Edward Foster was about to refuse but suddenly remembered that around this time, Lawrence Winters would be going for a dressing change.

If he went at this moment, perhaps he could gain some sympathy from Lawrence Winters by playing the victim...

Edward Foster nodded along, ”Mom, I’ll go right now.”

”I’ll go with you.” Mrs. Foster wasn’t reassured.

Edward Foster, however, declined, ”Mom, aren’t you here to attend the board meeting? You should go, you can’t always let Dad take your place.”

He added, ”Really, it’s nothing, the facial injury was just grazed by a punch wind, and my skin is sensitive; it bruises and swells easily. Don’t worry.”

Seeing that he was lively and insisting on seeing the family doctor, Mrs. Foster felt a bit more at ease, ”Let the driver take you, or I’ll accompany you.”

”Alright, alright, I’ll have the driver take me,” Edward Foster said with a smile, but inadvertently tugged at his face, wincing and nearly crying out.

Mrs. Foster sent her own driver to take Edward Foster to the family doctor.

Ella Zimmerman still wasn’t reassured, worriedly asking, ”Mrs. Foster, is this really okay? Mr. Foster Jr.’s injuries look quite frightening, aren’t you going with him?”

Then she resentfully added, ”And Kenneth Osborne, how dare he hit Mr. Foster Jr.! Are you really going to let him off like this?!”

Mrs. Foster casually replied, ”Let’s see what the doctor says. If it’s serious, we certainly won’t let him get away with it.”

Though Mrs. Foster appeared refined and gentle, her words carried a certain ruthlessness.

Ella Zimmerman glanced at her, not daring to speak further.

...

Nick Zeller was driving his own Grand Cherokee, taking Lawrence Winters to the doctor for a check-up.

Lawrence showed him the address.

Nick glanced at it and noticed it wasn’t a familiar public hospital, but seemed to be a private clinic, and exclaimed, ”...That night, the police took you to such an expensive hospital?!”

Lawrence embarrassingly smiled, brushing his hair back with his hand, and reservedly said, ”This isn’t the hospital the police took me to; this is the private clinic where Mr. Foster Jr.’s family doctor is. Although, it’s actually a hospital, a private one.”

Nick furrowed his brow, ”Why go there? Are you very familiar with Mr. Foster Jr.?”

Lawrence stretched out his injured arm, smiling, ”This is where he bandaged me up, isn’t it impressive?”

”...The Foster family’s doctor moonlights at a public hospital?” Nick couldn’t quite grasp it, ”And also, I’ve been meaning to ask, why aren’t you wearing the sling like you did that night?”

It was only then that Lawrence realized he hadn’t mentioned at home that Edward Foster brought the family doctor to their house.

”Haha, it’s a long story, Uncle, keep your eyes on the road rather than just chatting.” She giggled, trying to change the subject.

Because she hadn’t mentioned it initially, and now realizing everyone misunderstood, it became harder to explain.

But Nick wasn’t buying it, and grumpily said, ”Your skill at dodging, I taught you that. Don’t try pulling it on me, what’s going on?”

Lawrence awkwardly replied, ”Actually, it’s simple, on the morning of the day after I was injured, Mr. Foster Jr. brought his family doctor to our home, and had my wound redressed.”

”The previous look was hideous, now it’s great, with the sleeve covering it, nobody cares...hahaha...”

Nick understood, and was surprised, ”You mean someone came to our house that morning?! Neither I, your mom, nor your great-grandfather knew?! You’ve outdone yourself, Lawrence! This is covert action under our noses! Looks like I really underestimated you!”

He had truly watched Lawrence Winters grow up, whatever she did was obvious to him.
