Chapter 1295: Chapter 555: The Curtain Falls on the Warlord

”The power of revival? No, this is the Witch Demon King’s Elixir of Immortality.” Laine still knelt on one knee on the ground, staring intently at Mathew Bade’s transformation: ”I see now, this is a poor imitation of the original Master of the Undead’s Elixir of Immortality, you’ve turned into a vampire!”

Thousands of years ago, when the Master of the Undead Nagash was alive, he tirelessly researched the ways of immortality and the undead, creating the famed Elixir of Immortality. However, this elixir had side effects; while humans using it gained longevity and eternal youth, their thirst for blood would gradually increase until they turned into bloodthirsty, mindless monsters.

In short, they turned into vampires.

The stories of several blood ancestors and a few families have already been told earlier, so they won’t be repeated here.

Generally, the method to develop new vampires is through a blood kiss, where a higher-ranked vampire grants their original blood to a human, transforming them into a new vampire.

Mathew Bade chose differently; he opted to drink the Elixir of Immortality given by Akhan, a replica of Nagash’s original elixir. This concoction wasn’t sufficient to grant him the immense powers of several blood ancestors, but enough to heal all his injuries and transform him into a vampire.

Those observing the championship duel were astonished.

”Hmph! All undead deserve to die!” King of the Forest Olein shouted angrily, continuing to watch the duel.

”He’s actually turned into a vampire!” Bohemond sighed: ”Lorne had only one son, betrayal, fall, patricide, and becoming a puppet of the undead. I wonder what Caliod’s expression would be upon seeing this.”

”This is troubling now.” Francois frowned deeply, watching Laine and Mathew Bade’s duel worriedly like an anxious father-in-law: ”A vampire’s strength and speed far exceed those of mortals, and... with the current physical condition of this viper, becoming a vampire has significantly multiplied his power.”

”Then... what should be done, Mr. Francois?” Teresa asked anxiously, the female sorcerer questioning repeatedly.

”There is nothing that can be done; this is a sacred champion duel.” Lake God Witch Mogiana’s face didn’t look much better.

”Now, it all depends on Laine himself.”

Mathew Bade panted heavily, gradually transforming from the living to one of the undead, or rather a half-dead being.

”The dead can’t be the Knight King, viper.” Laine attempted to delay Mathew Bade’s actions through conversation, speaking with a taunting expression: ”Or has your brain gone faulty?”

”I must, avenge.” Mathew Bade murmured: ”I will use all I have.”

”Use all you have?” Laine continued to stimulate Mathew Bade’s spirit with sharp words, his utterances like the sharpest blades, cutting into Mathew Bade’s heart: ”You are no longer human, is this the price you’re willing to pay? From today onwards, you will forever be accompanied by the undead and blood, do you think it’s worth it?”

”I must, avenge!” Mathew Bade slowly recovered from the terrifying changes, repeating the same line over and over. When he raised his head, he seemed to have adapted to the transformation: ”Everything I do is to save this kingdom, to drag it out from the lies, I’m willing to pay any price.”

Laine chuckled bitterly upon hearing this; he knew his words would have no further effect.

But it didn’t matter, during the conversation, he had already dispelled the poison. The Divine Chosen Champion of the Lake Fairy stood up again, and he firmly grasped the Revenge Goddess: ”It seems our battle will not cease here.”

”Do you have a name, Laine Macado? What is your full name?” Mathew Bade pulled out his heart from his chest and crushed it; the wound caused by the Revenge Goddess was severe, forcing him to tear apart his heart. The Elixir of Immortality was remarkably effective, and the remaining residue kicked in, immediately growing a new one. Musillon’s viper focused on Laine, his eyes suddenly showing a strange expression: ”Tell me your full name; I want to know.”

”My full name is Laine Macado.” Laine said with rejetion in his tone, receiving recognition from a vampire? This was truly odd.

”Too bad, then let me tell you, my full name is Mathew Bade too.” The response was an incoherent remark: ”If I die... well, I already am dead.”

After his words, the two fell into silence.

Along the banks of the Sannes River, the water’s sound continued, the grasses and wildflowers on the fields were destroyed in the previous battle, and the champions of the duel stood just about ten meters apart, facing each other in speechless silence.

The flames on the Revenge Goddess Sword’s blade continued to burn; as Laine looked around, the beautiful Knight Kingdom still stood proud. This nation had resisted foreign invasions for a thousand years since its founding. A gentle breeze blew through his cape and hair, as Laine suddenly recalled the astonishment of the High Elf, when ”Sailing King” Finuba sailed to Le Anglong, expecting to see a swampy, primitive, and undeveloped human tribe.

But instead, humans had created such glorious and radiant civilization.

”You have your things to protect, and I have my target for vengeance, Laine, I told you, we’re very alike.” Mathew Bade murmured: ”If... I mean if...”
