Chapter 1283: Chapter 550: Peak of Life 2

”Now, thinking too much won’t help us,” Laine saw that he had reached his goal and shook his head, ”We can’t completely blame Lorne; after all, he succumbed to pressure, and who wasn’t young once? It was the Undead who took advantage of this abandoned child. At this point, we can only expose Mathew Bade’s conspiracy and save the Kingdom.”

”Kulona is garrisoned with a large army and a whole squad of Holy Grail Knights. The city is well-fortified and equipped with numerous defensive weapons. Although Lorne withdrew a lot of troops, Mathew Bade will find it difficult to seize Kulona,” Lake God Witch Mogiana clasped the Potion Chalice, her face somewhat pale, evidently due to depleting too much Magic Power during the previous battle, ”So don’t worry, everyone. Please rest well, and once the newly summoned army arrives, we’ll head to Kulona immediately to thwart Mathew Bade’s plot!”

”Yes!” everyone nodded together.

”Will Eslelin assist us?” Laine asked, taking advantage of Alaros’s presence.

”Eslelin will assist you until the Undead are completely expelled,” Alaros the Brave nodded, but he said rather arrogantly, ”However, Eslelin also has a condition.”

”Speak,” Laine remained seated and still, evidently aware that the Wood Elf wouldn’t help without reason; conditions were certainly involved, and it depended on negotiations.

”We want to establish a new observation post in Musillon, close to the Arden Forest, covering an area of five hectares, and we can choose an unpopulated place,” Alaros stated the Wood Elf’s condition, ”We can help you monitor the movements of the Beastmen in the Arden Forest and also collect...”

”Collect amber, I presume?” Laine replied somewhat irritably, ”I can agree to setting up an observation post, but since you plan to reside in my territory, you must abide by my laws and regulations. You cannot abduct children, indiscriminately kill Hunters entering the forest, or harm humans passing nearby. Can you do that?”

”The Arden Forest is not Aisloron; this is clearly not our home,” Alaros immediately retorted, ”We just need to establish a Jungle Cellar to reserve supplies and an outlet for the World Tree roots to ensure a rapid deployment of our army when ’Shadow Demon’ Mogul appears.”

After speaking, Alaros said proudly, ”You need Eslelin’s help, Laine, my friend. The Wood Elf can assist you in swiftly dispelling the corruption of this land; by channeling the Era Oak’s power for purification, the corrupted Musillon will restore to its former grandeur within months, centuries ago, Eslelin never lies.”

”Hmm... If you can abide by my rules, then granting a parcel of land for an observation post is no problem,” this statement indeed moved Laine; the cleansing ability of the Era Oak is unrivaled. Most importantly, the Wood Elf’s method of purifying the land doesn’t involve destruction; it merely requires using amber to activate the Era Oak’s power, followed by sowing. The force of life will enable Musillon to once again become Brittania’s most prosperous and powerful Duchy; during Landuin’s era, this place thrived with fertile plains.”

If humans were to undertake this task, it would involve scorching the entire land with fire and blessed salt for purification, obliterating the land entirely and requiring reconstruction.

”We agree to abide by your rules, then... Deal.” Alaros extended his hand.

”Deal.”

In late April, Mathew Bade led a Knightly Army marching toward Kulona.

Feeling triumphant, he grasped the reins of his warhorse; clad entirely in black Cursed Armor and wielding the Viper Sword, Mathew Bade went without a helmet, humming an ancient hymn of the Blood Dragon Family, in an excellent mood.

For now, nothing can stop him from ascending the throne.

Lorne is gravely injured, on the verge of death, whereabouts unknown, and the Northern Knightly Army has disintegrated.

Great Tzeentch Demon Carlos has promised to deal with Laine; the Southern Knightly Army has suffered setbacks in the war, Sharp-Top Palace has been reclaimed (turned to ruins), Laine lost again to Tzeentch’s Demon Army and has now retreated to Charon Forest awaiting reinforcements, Great Tzeentch Demon Carlos, after acquiring the Lion’s Riding Spear, assured Laine’s defeat, leaving little concern over possible Southern aggression.”

Hence, Mathew Bade made a decisive decision to lead the Undead Army to Kulona, preparing to seize the chaotic opportunity to ascend as king.”

He raised his banner and declared his identity, openly proclaiming himself as Lorne’s rightful heir, and legitimate successor of the Duke of Musillon title. He has the qualifications and, it is rightful that he should become the King of Brittania.

And just as imagined, Mathew Bade didn’t have much trouble with manpower because a large number of disgruntled, notorious Rogue Knights, forest bandits, rebellious Peasants, and vile assassins flocked under his banner, quickly forming a complete army composed of numerous living and Undead.

More significantly, Mathew Bade secured substantial support from the Musillon Nobles and the Southern Leonais Nobles originally from Musillon. He successfully convinced these nobles, long subject to unfair treatment, that the root cause of everything was the Kingdom’s injustice against them; out of self-interest, they must act. They believe Mathew Bade is indeed the legitimate Duke of Musillon and can alleviate their current plight. Thus, these Knightly Nobility declared their response to Mathew Bade’s call.
