Chapter 1277: Chapter 547: Heir to the Will of Legacy (Part 3)

Despite Laine being covered in blood from enduring Landuin’s strongest combat skill, he still gritted his teeth and charged forward.

Landuin immediately raised his guard to block head-on without weapons.

”Clang!” It’s unknown how many times the Goddess of Revenge and the unarmed guard have clashed now.

The injuries and the waning strength finally caused the Lake Knight to reveal a flaw, and Laine forcefully raised both hands, causing the Goddess of Revenge to deflect the blade of the unarmed guard.

In the next heartbeat, the sword’s edge pierced through Landuin’s chest and back.

Although Laine avoided the vital area of the heart, Landuin still lost the ability to fight, falling to his knees, blood flowing profusely.

The duel between Champions finally claimed a victor.

”I’m very sorry, Lord Landuin.” Despite winning, Laine showed no hint of joy. He hurriedly ran to Landuin, checking his injuries: ”I’m truly sorry.”

”Hehe~ You have nothing to apologize for, Laine Macado.” Landuin, badly wounded, had a satisfied smile on his face. The fine lines at the corners of his eyes and his tightly furrowed brow completely relaxed: ”I am the one who should apologize! I’m sorry, Divine Chosen Champion of the Lady, bringing you so much trouble.”

”No! I should be the one thanking you, Lord Landuin. If it weren’t for you, I wouldn’t have...” Seeing the profuse bleeding from Landuin’s chest, Laine quickly took out the berry wine given by the wood elf: ”Lord Landuin, please use this! It’s made using the Era Oak Life Spring, it can...”

”No need.” Landuin pushed the berry wine aside, laughing heartily, his face so handsome it was divine: ”This feels so good, this is... this is the duel I’ve pursued all my life, a worthy opponent, a face-to-face duel, the final finish, this is what I want, this is what I’ve sought all my life! Thank you! Laine!”

”From this day forth, as the First Duke of Musillon, the first patriarch of the Musillon Duke Family, and a Lake Knight among the twelve initial Holy Grail Knights, I officially acknowledge you as Duke of Musillon!” Landuin suddenly shouted loud enough for his voice to spread across the entire marsh: ”Please, everyone, witness this!”

All onlookers nodded in agreement, and Lake God Witch Mogiana and the Green Knight stepped forward, signaling recognition of this appointment.

Although this appointment hadn’t been approved by the Knight King, everyone present knew that, since Landuin said it, it was true; unless the First Knight King Arthur appeared, Landuin was the Knight Kingdom.

From today, Laine Macado is the new Duke of Musillon.

”...Understood!” Laine did not decline. Instead, he knelt on one knee before Landuin, showing acceptance of the appointment.

He had spent nearly ten years striving for this ducal title; to refuse it now would be excessively hypocritical, and it would violate the Knightly Spirit of honesty, as well as the expectations of all the nobles, Church, and merchants supporting him.

He must agree; there’s no other choice.

”Very well! Laine, Musillon’s future is entrusted to you now.” Landuin’s tone was full of expectation and boldness as he lifted his eyes toward the bright moon.

After a millennium, Musillon’s crescent moon remains beautiful, making him linger gaze for a few more moments.

Time, however, was not on his side. Landuin’s gaze grew as clear as moonlit lake water, as he signaled to Laine to listen: ”Before then, I have one unfulfilled wish, Laine Macado, are you able to fulfill it for me?”

”Please tell me!” The newly appointed Duke of Musillon knelt on one knee before Landuin, ready to listen.

”Kill me! Use your sword, kill me completely!” Landuin said earnestly: ”This is my final wish, use your sword to completely destroy my soul and this decaying body, obliterate it all!”

”What?!”
