Chapter 1269: Chapter 545: Lake Knight Landuin

”For your support in this war, King of the Forest, I extend my respect and sincere greetings,” Laine expressed his gratitude to Olein on their retreat.

The Wood Elves were willing to help, which was within Laine’s expectations, but he still felt the need to express his thanks.

”You owe Eslelin,” Olein’s fierce nature was fully revealed, his words were filled with inviolable majesty and wild, primal anger. This anger could be directed at Chaos, Green Skins, and Beastmen, but it could also be aimed at Dwarves and Humans.

Historically, many human expeditions and Dwarf exploration teams were massacred upon entering the forest, with the Wood Elves only sending one survivor back each time.

These people would even kill their own in a frenzy. The Aisloron Forest is divided into twelve territories, each governed by a Forest Lord, and the conditions vary among the different territories. Not only do they have different cultural traditions and deities, but the environment and time flow are also different.

For example, the famous Eternal Night Forest, which has not seen dawn for hundreds of years, and the Heart of Cold Winter, where winter has lasted for thousands of years.

Therefore, Olein, the King of Wood Elves, and Queen Airel, could only really control the King’s Forest at the center of Aisloron Forest. The Supreme Lord Council, composed of the twelve Forest Great Lords, manages the affairs of the Wood Elves.

The Wood Elves usually enjoy peace and are absolute isolationists, only wishing that mortals from outside not bother them so they can live their own quiet lives. Therefore, in the Old World, Wood Elves mostly exist as legends and theatrical characters. Only Brittania and the High Elves have the minimal level of diplomatic relations with them. High Elves, due to the efforts of ”Sailing King” Finuba, and Brittania, due to its proximity to Aisloron Forest, established diplomatic relations with the Knight Kingdom out of necessity and the need for defense barriers.

Olein’s extremely arrogant words drew the dissatisfaction of almost everyone, with the Brittania Knights glaring at the Wood Elves, especially the proud Holy Grail Knights.

Despite having signed a mutual aid and non-aggression pact, Brittania and the Wood Elves did not always coexist peacefully. A full-scale war was triggered once because the roots of the Era Oak covered a Holy Grail Church, resulting in the death of five Holy Grail Knights and a Forest Great Lord, with the Wood Elves being forced to retreat after losing over a thousand souls.

Additionally, there is a vague boundary between the Paragon Duchy and Aisloron Forest. Many peasants often try to establish settlements in the disputed areas, to which the Wood Elves have responded clearly with a Wild Hunt, destroying the settlements and their inhabitants. Decades later, when the peasants have forgotten the previous tragedy and try to establish settlements again, the Wood Elves launch another Wild Hunt to destroy everything.

Laine calmly waited for Olein to finish speaking, only feeling the burning pain of his wound. A slap from the Fate Weaver was not something easily endured. If not for the Great Vortex and the Great Guardian suppressing the power of the Chaos Demon, this slap would have been enough to take Laine’s life.

Laine wasn’t joking; his opponent was a Chaos Great Demon!

A Chaos Great Demon is not just an ordinary formidable enemy, not to mention Carlos, the Fate Weaver, the first Great Demon under Tzeentch. The fighting power of a Chaos Great Demon is unstable due to the Magic Wind. After Carlos established a stable energy transmission channel through the Holy Artifact, he alone could handle an entire army.

”Eslelin also owes you,” Olein paused for quite a while before finishing his sentence, ”We will help you defeat Chaos and the Undead. This is Eslelin’s promise, and we will fulfill it. Also, please adhere to our trade agreement!”

Laine is Eslelin’s only trade partner.

Over the years, Wood Elves have acquired an immense amount of needed materials through trade with Laine. Laine’s outstanding diplomatic ability and good diplomatic relations with major forces in the Old World have enabled the Wood Elves’ trade station to obtain anything they desire, including vast amounts of food, Dwarf-made tools and fine weapons and equipment, marble, pottery, salt, pig iron, timber, wine, and livestock meat.

In return, the Wood Elves offer furs, handmade products, precious Wood Elf medicines, exquisite Elf jewelry, Wood Elf fruit wine and clothing - crazily pursued by the upper nobility - as well as various precious gemstones. Additionally, they provide guidance and assistance in the breeding of Pure-blooded Elf Warhorses.

The Wood Elves are very satisfied with this situation, which is also a crucial reason for their assistance this time.

In comparison, the former Brittania trade partners sought by the Wood Elves... were quite unsatisfactory. Since the Wood Elves would only select Holy Grail Knights who were Lords as their trade partners, situations like this frequently occurred.

Wood Elf: ”I need this, this, and this.”

Holy Grail Lord: ”I only have one kind; I don’t have the others. You’re asking for too much; I don’t have that many things.”

Wood Elf: ”Can’t you help me get them?”

Holy Grail Lord: ”I can’t.”

Wood Elf: ”Don’t you have supply channels? Can’t you negotiate with other Lords to help us procure them?”
