Chapter 1270: Chapter 545: Lake Knight Landuin (Part 2)

Holy Grail Lord: ”I don’t know where to source the goods from, I don’t know how to do this.”

Wood Elf: ”...”

Unlike trade with Laine, the Oliver Commerce Association, which holds exclusive rights to trade with the Wood Elves, welcomes the Wood Elf envoys sincerely. They fully listen to their trade demands and special requests for goods. Oliver can basically fulfill any needs of the Wood Elves, and if the demand is truly massive, Oliver can easily source goods from various branches across the Brittania Kingdom or even from Marinburg.

Trading with the Wood Elves is a truly lucrative business, and over the years Oliver has become one of the wealthiest magnates in the Old World.

After saying this, Olein said no more, he returned to the ranks of the Wood Elf army, where the Eternal Guard and Woodland Guard marched side by side, the Wild Cavalry and Woodland Cavalry mixed together, Rangers and Desolate Forest Rangers were on alert for external enemies. This army of thousands of Wood Elves clearly trusts no one.

Riding the Forest Dragon, the Twilight Sisters coldly observed the allied forces of humans and dwarves. Few people know the origins of this pair of Twilight Sisters; even the Wood Elves only know their names as Nasta and Ailaa. One has white hair, the other black, both are extremely beautiful and slender, wearing luxurious enchanted scale armor crafted by Elf Craftsman God Val.

It is said they are the daughters of Airel and Olein, one representing pure nobility, the other representing primal wildness.

The human and dwarf pointing and whispering made them very displeased. At their command, the Forest Dragon spread its wings and rose to the sky.

Laine gave up communicating with the Wood Elves; it’s incredible that these recluses are willing to lend a hand.

He walked alongside Francois, chatting intermittently with his father-in-law. In the previous battle, Francois fought relentlessly to protect the artillery from the Chaos Demons and could not spare a hand to assist Laine and others. It is due to Francois and the Quenalis Champion Knights Brotherhood’s fierce combat that most of the artillery was relatively well-protected.

”How is Surya doing?” Laine asked somewhat embarrassed.

”Surya is doing very well,” Francois nodded with a smile. ”She has an excellent constitution, with a large group of people constantly caring for her. The Lady often accompanies her in conversation, keeping her mood and physical state quite good.”

”That’s good,” Laine’s face showed some guilt, he shook his head with a bitter smile. ”I am truly an unqualified husband and father. Surya is pregnant, yet I cannot be by her side. This feeling is really uncomfortable.”

”But you are fighting to protect humanity and the kingdom,” Francois understood this, and he patted Laine’s shoulder. ”Without your efforts, there would be no peace. Surya understands this as well.”

”Alas, no one knew things would turn out this way,” Laine’s expression was somewhat displeased.

The army marched to Landuin’s Tomb only after more than two hours.

This was a very simple stone tomb, with a large marsh in front of it and surrounded by several low shrubs at the back.

The grave marker, covered in wild grass, bears the birth and death dates and name of one of the first twelve Holy Grail Knights. The grave has nearly been completely overtaken by various weeds and shrubs, with only faint visibility of the inscriptions on the tombstone.

”Embodiment of Knightly Virtues, model of the Knightly Path, Duke of Musillon, one of the greatest Holy Grail Knights, Landuin rests here, may his spirit always be with us.”

—Second Knight King ”Reckless” Lewis

The army stopped before the grave, with the vast majority of Brittania Knights kneeling in the marsh.

This is Landuin’s Tomb.

He was once the brightest star of the Brittania Knight Kingdom, the most powerful Holy Grail Knight; his strength was said to surpass even the First Knight King Arthur.

His soul long returned to the Divine Kingdom of the Lake Fairy, his body sealed and cast in iron. After a failed resurrection, both the Undead and Chaos lost interest in this grave, and so it remains neglected to this day, with only occasional visits and tidying by Expedition Knights.

”Landuin, great ancestor, true paragon.” Bohemond felt the Sword in the Stone in his hand tremble, and the Red Dragon Duke knelt devoutly before the grave: ”I salute you, Lake Knight.”

”I salute you, Lake Knight!” Francois also stepped forward and knelt on one knee before the grave.

Each of the Holy Grail Knights went forward to pay their respects, as Mogiana recited the Holy Words of the Lake Fairy, bestowing blessings.

Even the King of the Forest Olein nodded, and said gruffly: ”Respectable human warrior, I will always remember the time we fought side by side. A thousand years have passed, your strength and virtues exhibited then are ingrained in Eslelin’s heart, the Wood Elves will not forget your story.”

Imperial General Dietrich and Boris von Rukov also bowed their heads in silence.

The rise and prosperity of Brittania coincided with the beginning of the Empire’s decline, followed by the Black Death War, the Three Emperors Era, and the Vampire War lasting for centuries. At that time, Brittania was the most powerful human nation in the Old World.

After the Dor Tower incident, the Knight Kingdom declined, while the Empire seized the opportunity during the second Great Chaos Invasion to rise under the leadership of Savior Ludwig. The New Empire replaced the Old Empire, and the new Emperor Ludwig brought about a prosperous and thriving great era for the Empire, thus allowing it to surpass.
