Chapter 1252: Chapter 538: The Deal Between Undead and Chaos_3

”Yes, I’m here, Mr. Leofric, may I ask what’s the matter?” Bertrand quickly put down the empty bowl and stood up, simultaneously giving Remon a warning glance, then rose to greet, ”I’m here.”

The newcomer was none other than Leofric-Karal, a Kingdom Knight from Winford and the champion of the previous knights’ tournament. He looked disdainfully at the large iron pot cooking whole wheat bread, pork, and vegetables amidst a group of soldiers. However, recalling that Bertrand was appreciated by Duke Francois, he tried to soften his expression and said, ”We plan to hold a meeting. Lord Laine is asking for you. Come with me.”

”Yes!” Bertrand immediately responded and followed behind Leofric, leaving the camp.

Watching Bertrand leave like this, envy adorned the soldiers’ faces. Despite Bertrand appearing subservient in front of Leofric, being able to speak relatively equally was an unimaginable honor for all peasants!

Bertrand followed Leofric to another side of the camp, where the master knights were stationed. A giant tent stood at the camp’s center. When Bertrand lifted the tent flap, the Holy Grail Knight and the Great Nobles were already seated, leaving only the seat nearest the entrance for Bertrand, who hurriedly took it.

The atmosphere inside the tent was evidently somber. Laine stood at a long table examining a map, while Mogiana, dressed in a threaded lily gown, sat on his right, and the female sorcerer Teresa clad in a full set of black leather clothes and thigh-high boots sat on his left.

”...Losing Sharp-Top Palace means our plan to reclaim Musillon has failed.” Laine nodded upon seeing Bertrand appear, then continued speaking, ”The appearance of Tzeentch’s Demon Army is rather strange. Normally, the Undead and Chaos are not friends but enemies. Therefore, the fall of Sharp-Top Palace is entirely my fault. I wasn’t prepared, and I accept criticism and correction.”

The knights discussed this theory extensively, but overall they did not believe it was Laine’s fault. The emergence of Tzeentch’s Demon Army was far too sudden and inexplicable. The army’s defeat under such unpredictability was inevitable.

The might of the Chaos Demon Army naturally needed no further discussion. Even the elite troops of the Elves and Dwarves found it very difficult to deal with an organized Chaos Demon Legion, not to mention that Laine’s army included quite a few peasants—losing was normal, winning was a miracle.

”It’s not your fault, Laine. None of us expected that a Great Demon of Tzeentch would lead an entire Tzeentch’s Demon Army to appear in Musillon.” Mogiana shook her head, seated sideways on her chair, holding the Potion Chalice, ”Chaos Demons won’t easily enter the Mortal World. There must be a purpose for their intrusion.”

”The purpose of the Chaos Demons...” Fidmund, son of Duke Bodric, and a Holy Grail Knight, pondered, ”Generally, Chaos Demons descend upon the Mortal World for two reasons. The first is destruction, and the second is to find or destroy something designated by the Evil God.”

Jerald also nodded, furrowing his brows as well. This Kingdom Knight with the title of Paladin looked pale; he had been injured by a Tzeentch Demon in a previous battle, and his wounds were yet to heal, ”If it’s destruction, then Tzeentch’s Demon Army wouldn’t give up pursuing us.”

”Then is it to destroy something?” Armand contemplated with his head lowered, puzzled: ”Does Chaos want to destroy Sharp-Top Palace?”

”Doesn’t seem like it.” Laine shook his head.

Everyone fell into a state of confusion.

The female sorcerer Teresa suddenly spoke.

”Laine, do you think the Undead might collude with Chaos to form an Alliance Army?”
