Chapter 1146: Chapter 497: Justice Lies with the Eastern Army!

To the east of the Moros Plains, the Holy Grail Knight, Fedmond, and the Deputy Commander of the Sea God Knight Order, Sir Houlf, were leading a Knight Army of over thirty men slowly emerging from the forest. The righteous Holy Grail Knight had locked his gaze on Jillam, with nothing but endless hatred in his eyes: ”Jillam! Traitor!”

”Damn, it’s the Holy Grail Knight!” The Rogue Knights were evidently lacking confidence upon seeing Fedmond. However, they soon realized the enemy numbered just over thirty riders.

In contrast, the Rogue Knights led by Jillam numbered over a hundred, with an additional three hundred Knight’s Attendants.

The absolute numerical advantage gave the Rogue Knights, led by Jillam, a boost of confidence. The leader of these Rogue Knights shouted loudly, ”Good! Let’s first crush this group of Sea God Knights, this will be our first step to fame and fortune!”

”Oh!” His subordinates responded loudly in unison. These Rogue Knights were all eager for recognition, with a desire for wealth and honor that was no less than any Knight from the Human Realm.

”Advance!” The Rogue Knights spurred their horses, hundreds of Knights lifted their long spears, pulling the reins, as the warhorses neighed, launching a shameless and brutal cavalry charge against the thirty-some riders on the vast, flat Moros Plains!

Speed, strength, glory! The Sea God Knights led by Fedmond shouted the name of Boldro, facing the formidable enemy head-on!

On the plains, the brightly clad, blue-and-yellow Sea God Knights faced the Rogue Knights directly. In a moment of cavalry clash, the sound of splintering cavalry lances shattered the morning’s tranquility.

”Kill!” Fedmond’s cavalry lance pierced a Rogue Knight’s chest. He immediately drew his Knight’s Sword from his waist: ”For Boldro! For Manannan! For the Lady!”

”Roar!” The Sea God Knights’ morale soared. Those who had broken their lances or tridents drew scimitars and raised their shields, engaging in close-quarters combat as their robes and armor were soaked with blood.

In merely the blink of an eye, over thirty Rogue Knights had fallen, while the Sea God Knights had lost only five men.

Fedmond’s gaze was like lightning, and his Knight’s Sword had tasted the blood of at least five Rogue Knights or Knight’s Attendants. As this wave of charge concluded, the Holy Grail Knight raised his sword, signaling the Sea God Knights to regroup and prepare for another confrontation.

The Sea God Knights, with high spirits, began to sing an ancient ballad.

”Come on, cheer up, my lads, we sail for glory.”

”Heads held high, we dispel fear.”

”For honor, we call you forth, as free men not slaves.”

”We are the proud sons of the Sea God, never yielding until dawn!”

Hearing this song caused some agitation in the Rogue Knights’ ranks. The tune was so familiar that many Rogue Knights looked ashamed, unable to grip their weapons any longer.

This song, called ”Heart of Oak,” is the anthem of the Sea God Knight Order.

Among the Rogue Knights summoned by Jillam, there were many Boldro people who had grown up listening to this song. As the song rang out, these Boldro people were deeply moved.

Was it truly honorable to become Rogue Knights, betraying one’s homeland and birthplace?

No matter how much they convinced themselves otherwise, deep inside, a sense of desolation enveloped the traitors’ hearts. They knew that even if they achieved success and recognition in the future, they would never be accepted by their homeland again.

This is the price of betrayal.

Jillam’s face turned pale as he raised his weapon and shouted, ”We have no way out, my soldiers! Do you not yearn for glory? We are facing a Holy Grail Knight!”

”Advance!” Fedmond gave no chance for Jillam’s lecture. He raised his Knight’s Sword: ”Advance! Sea God Knights!”

”Advance!” The synchronized Sea God Knights, though only twenty-some remained, formed a line again to charge. Despite their reduced numbers, their momentum exceeded that of thousands, each Sea God Knight shouting the name of Boldro.

As they said, sons of the Sea God, never yielding!

In a flash, the second clash ensued. This time, four Sea God Knights had fallen from their horses, while nearly twenty Rogue Knights were lost.

As the second engagement concluded, following two direct charges, the Rogue Knights began to show signs of fatigue, and nearly every Sea God Knight bore injuries.

The leader of the Rogue Knights, Jillam, looked stern. He signaled for all the Rogue Knights to halt.

After two rounds of confrontation, he had already lost fifty men! Such losses far exceeded his expectations. At this rate, even if they managed to annihilate the Sea God Knights, their own losses would be too great!

In short, he felt hesitant to continue the fight.

Jillam hesitated, but Fedmond had no intention of letting them go. The blood-soaked Holy Grail Knight showed no emotion as he raised his Knight’s Sword: ”Sea God Knights, advance!”

”Advance!” Despite some fatigue from two rounds of charging, under the leadership of the Holy Grail Knight, the remaining Sea God Knights remained spirited, ready to advance once more.

Jillam felt his hands tremble, knowing this was not a moment to retreat!

And so, the third charge commenced—shattered armor, splattered blood, broken limbs flying. War is truly this merciless.

This time, the Sea God Knights were finally struggling to hold on. From an original count of thirty, less than half remained, and every man was injured. Fedmond and Sir Houlf were thoroughly covered in blood, practically transformed into men of blood.

The Moros Plains were silent, the morale of the Rogue Knights began to significantly decline, an eerie scene emerged on the morning battlefield, Jillam and his Rogue Knights looked as though they had the advantage and were about to win, yet their morale waned and their fighting spirit was low.

At this time, the Sea God Knights were in the east, and the Rogue Knights were in the west, forming a faint standoff on the plains.

The course of this war left the Margaret Vanguard Team watching the battle in shock, the deputy head walked over to the leader of the Vanguard Team, Rodrigo, and exclaimed, ”Is this the knights of Brittania?”

”Now you understand why the knights of Brittania are hailed as the first in the Old World?” The Vanguard Team leader, Rodrigo, nodded, his brow tightly knit: ”This is honor and faith.”

”Leader, when do we join the fight?” The deputy asked softly upon seeing this: ”Didn’t we agree with the Brittania people?”

”Wait a bit longer.” Rodrigo was still hesitating.

There are many differences between the Mercenary Corps and regular armies, one of the most important being the level of obedience; as the leader of the Mercenary Corps, Rodrigo wasn’t part of Estalia’s army, they were just hired mercenaries, thus Rodrigo was unwilling to commit his troops to battle too early to avoid excessive losses.

Even with morale setbacks, Jillam’s Rogue Knights were still considerable in number, joining the battle now would result in significant losses, so Rodrigo’s plan was to wait for Brittania’s main forces to appear and defeat the Rogue Knights before entering the battlefield to do cleanup, minimizing losses.

But things were destined not to go as Rodrigo anticipated. While the Mercenary Corps leader was still lost in thought, a massive fireball flew out from within the forest, trailing a long scorched tail, crashing down directly in front of the Mercenary Corps, about thirty meters or so away. The fireball exploded on the ground, creating a large pit, with black smoke and the smell of burning grass spreading through the Margaret Vanguard Team.

”Cough cough ~ Damn it, it must be because we haven’t moved, the Brittania people are warning us!” The deputy coughed as he spoke to Rodrigo: ”Damn it, if this continues, we’ll be removed by President Amancio!”

Rodrigo’s eyes were uncertain, he looked at the crater left by the fireball spell in front of him, then at the distant forest, finally making up his mind, the Mercenary Corps leader mounted his steed, signaling all the mercenaries to heed his orders.

Rodrigo waved his arm, facing east, spreading his fingers, his voice full of righteous fervor:

”Justice lies with the Eastern Army! Launch an attack immediately, crush Jillam and his men! Everyone will be rewarded!”

”Yes!”

The Mercenary Corps’s betrayal caught Jillam and the Rogue Knights off guard, but the sound of muskets and artillery from behind made the bloodthirsty Jillam realize this was no joke, they had been betrayed!

The unprepared Rogue Knights suffered a despicable surprise attack, and under musket and artillery assault, many Knight’s Attendants were killed on the spot, the Rogue Knights’ morale plummeted.

”Traitors! All traitors! We have been betrayed!” Jillam shouted loudly: ”Soldiers, follow me, charge out together!”

However, when these Rogue Knights tried to retreat, it was already too late, their retreat path was cut off by the Mercenary Corps, and in the south of the Moros Plains, a large group of Sea God Knights were successively flooding onto the battlefield.

Duke Boldro Bodrick raised his Knight’s Sword, delivering an impassioned speech: ”My compatriots! Through hardships, we have finally caught these traitors!”

”They have looted our tombs, stolen the Sea God Trident! They are unforgivable!”

”Now, it’s their turn to endure our wrath!”

”The Son of the Sea God will never yield to enemies, now, charge with me! For the Lady! For Manannan! For Boldro!”

Hundreds of Sea God Knights charged into the battlefield amidst thunderous cheers, as the iron hooves of the Boldro Duchy’s army crushed everything in their path as they rolled towards Jillam’s flank!

From the sky came a piercing cry, a walking flash rode upon the golden Griffin, he shouted the name of the Lake Fairy, summoning lightning that charred two Rogue Knights to cinders in one strike!

It was Laine and his steed, Griffin Empress! This Griffin had been brought by the Sea God Fleet!

”Retreat! Retreat!” Jillam immediately realized they were encircled! The leader of the Rogue Knights loudly signaled the knights to retreat, trying to flee through the small forest to the north, he let out a desperate cry, while ordering his trusted men to secure the Sea God Trident and break through with him.

As long as this Divine Artifact is in hand, there is hope for a comeback!

Sadly, there were also enemies in the northern small forest.

Imperial Grand Alchemist Biersaze Gaert led a large contingent of Imperial Army onto the battlefield, the Imperial Knight Order, Imperial Musketeer Battalion, Imperial Long Halberd Legion, and a troop of Flame Sun Knights he led were all ready to engage.

The Grand Alchemist raised his Golden Staff.

”Metal Torrent!”

The Wind of Piety swept across the plains, dozens of silver torrents devoured the area where the Rogue Knights were.

”Alchemy of Lead!”

Gaert cast his second spell, and the Rogue Knights were horrified to find their weapons and armor turning into lead blocks and clay!

Before they could react, Duke Boldro Bodrick had already led the Sea God Knights into the ranks of the Rogue Knights, Bodrick turned into a storm of the sea, his Knight’s Sword devoured flesh: ”Jillam, you traitor! Die!!!”

A slaughter began.
