Thank you so much, and there should be another update today.

On the Moros Plains, the Sea God Knight Order has already landed here, with Duke Boldro Bodrick leading five hundred Sea God Knights along with five hundred peasant troops to camp.

Normally, the Boldro Duchy’s army is much more than this, but after all, this is fighting in a foreign country. Although the nobles of Estalia are generally weaker, if you really send a large army without regard, Estalia would still take issue.

Inside Laine’s tent, the Count himself had just gone out, leaving behind the Dark Elf and Jialan Witch. Veronica sat in front of the mirror tidying herself, carefully applying light makeup, lipstick, and wearing jewelry, while the Dark Elf had already gotten dressed, sitting on a simple military bed playing with a dagger in her hand, her thoughts unknown.

”Speaking of which, Lady Ollica, you seem to seldom go on adventures with Laine, don’t you?” Veronica said to the mirror, looking at the Dark Elf on the military bed through it.

”I don’t like going out, and if it weren’t for the master’s firm decision this time, I wouldn’t have come out.” The Dark Elf still held hostility towards Veronica, or perhaps she harbored a slight hostility towards everyone in Laine’s rear courtyard. Ollica flipped the Butterfly Dagger in her hand, her tone inexplicably strange: ”The master’s will belongs to the master; your thoughts don’t matter.”

”Then are your thoughts very important?” Veronica retorted: ”Since you obey the master’s will, why care about my thoughts?”

”Because the master said to listen to some of your opinions on certain issues.” The Dark Elf said hesitantly: ”But I really dislike following orders from weaklings, so I suggest you don’t command me, Witch, or I won’t know whether to obey the master or make you suffer instead.”

”Make me suffer? Lady Ollica, you’re confident you can defeat me?” As expected, Veronica was displeased with Ollica’s high stance, she turned her head, a hint of anger in her tone: ”Or can we find an opportunity?”

”I promised the master not to duel with you.” The Dark Elf shook her head: ”I can only tell you that even without using magic power, I can defeat you in a few moves; you wouldn’t have time to cast spells.”

”What if you use magic power?” Veronica recognized this point; besides casting, the Dark Elf was obviously skilled with daggers and secret weapons. Without preparation, casters found such people the hardest to deal with. But Ollica herself was also a very powerful caster, making it difficult.

Unlike humans, Elves are a race that can cast spells while fighting. This is a racial talent, something one can only envy.

”Normal magic duels wouldn’t be too difficult; unfortunately, my magic power can only come from the master.” Ollica shook her head, as the Dark Elf put her white silk feet into small boots and stood up: ”But before my magic power runs out, I can defeat you three times.”

”You’ve always kept a low profile, staying beside Laine for seven years; we all thought you were just a simple maid.” Veronica knew Laine didn’t want trouble in his backyard and that the Jialan Witch also found it meaningless for the two to fight. She looked at the Dark Elf, pondering: ”Is this your disguise? Or does Laine want you to be this way?”

”It’s none of your business. Since the master doesn’t want conflicts between us, I won’t initiate anything against you.” The Dark Elf suddenly sighed: ”Can you understand the feeling of finally finding direction after spending over two hundred years in void and boredom?”

”Do you want a human like me to understand Elven thoughts?” Veronica retorted unceremoniously, hanging a pair of diamond earrings on her ears: ”Aren’t you asking too much?”

”Humans always envy the longevity of Elves.” Ollica said softly: ”But what they don’t know is that Elves are a cursed race. From Asuyan’s creation of us, the Lord of Phoenix decided not to grant eternal life to Elves. Although Elves are very long-lived, they still age and die gradually. Those powerful Elves who live past a thousand years even with their long lifespans, even without dying in battle or due to illness, still gradually lose ’the feeling of being alive,’ eventually losing interest in everything and ending themselves.”

”Human gods always try their best to protect their people, but the Elven god is this harsh?” Veronica asked curiously, the Witch’s interest piqued: ”Can you elaborate?”

”To maintain the feeling of being alive, the Asur, which you know as High Elves, choose to indulge in various aesthetics, arts, and pleasures. The Duruzi, which are us Dark Elves, choose to indulge our desires, letting slaughter and physical passions maintain our emotions. As for the Eslelin, our cousins, they choose to become one with nature, using the power of the Era Oak and Forest Essence to make themselves live longer and keep their vitality.” Ollica said coldly: ”Elves fear death but fear losing the feeling of being alive even more.”
