Chapter 1123: Chapter 487: A Vampire Is Just a Vampire (2)

The Dark Elf, who seemed to have fallen asleep, also opened her eyes, evidently interested in the news about Vampires: ”That Female Vampire actually knows the Elf Language.”

”That’s right, Vampires are divided into families.” Laine nodded, beginning to narrate the history of the Vampires.

The origin of Vampires is not very clear. What is currently known is that Vampires are creations of the Master of the Undead, Nagash. These individuals, having received Nagash’s gift, gained near-eternal life and bodies far stronger than ordinary people. However, they also developed a thirst for blood. Over time, Vampires’ craving for blood grows stronger, eventually turning them into lowly Vampire Beasts, making it inaccurate to say that Vampires live forever.

The original Blood Ancestors were incredibly powerful, but with propagation and creation, the Vampire bloodlines grew thin and weak. Over inheritance, Vampires gradually formed five major families.

The Female Vampire that Fidmund and his party encountered this time belongs to the Lemya Bloodline.

The Lemya Bloodline originates from the Vampire Queen, Nefertari, who was the first human noblewoman willing to be transformed into a Vampire just to remain youthful forever. Nefertari had no interest in power struggles or ruling the world; she only wished to stay beautiful in her palace. Therefore, most of her descendants were noble ladies and dowagers. In terms of infiltration into human society, the Lemya Bloodline excels, yet these Vampires have no ambition and even fully support human rule to maintain their noble lifestyle.

As a side note, the Witch Demon King ”Black” Akhan was romantically involved with Nefertari.

The second Vampire family is called Niklache, with the Blood Ancestor named Sauron. Sauron was a very powerful Master of Dark and Undead Magic. With the help of Dark Magic and Undead Magic, the Niklache family does not need to suck blood and is unafraid of the corruption of the Wind of Chaos. However, Sauron died in the wars following Nagash, and with the loss of their Blood Ancestor, the Vampire family declined, reduced to a few members who live in remote places, studying magic until they vanish completely.

The third Vampire family is called the Strig Family, with the Blood Ancestor named Oren. Oren once established a glorious undead kingdom, the Strig Kingdom, in the southern Evil Land of the Old World, only to be soon overwhelmed by endless waves of Green Skins. Oren fled with his bloodline in search of help but was rejected by other Vampires, eventually dying in battle. Without their Blood Ancestor, the Vampires of the Strig Family all went mad, turning into vengeful and irrational monsters.

The fourth Vampire family is the renowned Blood Dragon Family, with a Blood Ancestor known as the legendary ”Blood Dragon Ancestor” Alboim Wallace. The previous great achievements of the Blood Dragon Ancestor have been detailed earlier and will not be repeated here. After the founding of Brittania, the Green Knight and the Blood Dragon Ancestor had a world-shattering duel, ending in a draw. Alboim Wallace, pleased by the battle, vowed never to trouble the Knight Kingdom again.

By the way, Alboim Wallace once served as the captain of Nefertari’s Guards and was romantically involved with her.

The last family is the most famous in the Old World, the von Castain Clan. The Blood Ancestor is Vlad von Castain. Equipped with both strategic prowess and martial valor, he obtained the position of Hilvanian Prince-Elector by marrying Isabella, daughter of the Hilvanian Prince-Elector Otto, and transformed the place into a realm of the dead. When the time was ripe, Vlad instigated the Vampire War and almost defeated the Empire in the Brunswick siege but was ultimately brought down when Archbishop Wilhelm perished with him, leading to the annihilation of the Vampire army and Isabella’s death from grief.

Vlad’s title was inherited by Conrad von Castain. This battle-crazy, strategic genius caused the Empire many problems, but in one war, he was distracted by his bloodlust during a duel, resulting in his defeat by the collaboration of a Dwarf Lord and the Imperial Prince-Elector.

The third Vampire Count, Manfred von Castain, the last and most cunning Vampire Count, was killed by Prince Martin in the Battle of Helvfen, marking the end of the Vampire War.

By the way, before Vlad married Isabella, he was supposedly also romantically involved with Nefertari.

The aristocratic circles are indeed chaotic.

”The five families, so you’re saying we’ve crossed paths with the Lemya family?” Veronica instinctively thought of trouble.

”Master, Undead Magic originates from Dark Magic.” The Dark Elf supplemented Laine’s explanation: ”Some female sorcerers once ended up in the Nikohara Desert, where they were captured by Nagash, who was the Ancient Tomb Priest at the time. Nagash forced the sorceresses to teach him Dark Magic, and Nagash’s Undead Magic and related studies are based on Dark Magic. That’s why I asked that Female Vampire about her family in Elf Language, and she surprisingly responded in Elf Language as well.”

”Obviously, this High-Rank Lemya Female Vampire doesn’t wish for trouble; she simply wanted to silence witnesses.” Laine nodded. ”The Lemya family is like that, I think she saw your lineup—a Holy Grail Knight, a Temple Knight, and a Dark Elf Wizard—and felt troubled, right? Did she attempt to negotiate peace?”
