Chapter 1108: Chapter 481: Facing the Rhinoceros Head-On with Bare Flesh

In the midst of everyone’s attention, Sword Master Fernandez-Vazquez raised his hands, indicating his acceptance of the crowd’s cheers.

Opposite him, the massive Fur-Wearing Rhinoceros was gradually freeing itself from its shackles, while guards prepared to open the iron gate to enter the arena.

”A proud peacock, just look at his attire; you can tell his armor and weapons are more for show than for attack.” On the high platform, the late-arriving Laine and others could only book a private box. Veronica leaned somewhat bored on a simple wooden chair, and Jialan Witch clearly didn’t care much about such duels as she crossed her Long Legs: ”A red cloth? I’ve never heard of a red cloth stimulating a rhinoceros, and besides, can a Rapier really have enough impact on the rhinoceros’s tough hide?”

”No, the Rapier is not as weak as you imagine, Lady Veronica.” Fidmund closely watched the Sword Master, the Holy Grail Knight correcting Veronica’s mistake: ”Perhaps in war, Rapiers are worthless, but in one-on-one duels, they can precisely target the joints and weaker defensive points of armor, and apart from a very few divine artifact armors, even most plate armors cannot achieve complete defense without dead angles.”

”That’s why Estalian duelists are not very effective in actual combat but have a renowned reputation in the Old World,” Laine added: ”Don’t underestimate the Estalian duelists.”

”Anyway, I definitely won’t lose.” Veronica ignored Fidmund’s words, but upon hearing her man also gave her some face, Jialan Witch was somewhat displeased: ”These Estalians can taste my Flame Burst Technique.”

Laine amusingly patted Veronica on the shoulder, signaling her to pay attention to the match. Veronica saw this and said no more.

The duel began.

The Fur-Wearing Rhinoceros is a powerful beast that likes to roam the alpine mountains and alpine grasslands, mostly found in the north. It is indeed rare for Estalia, hence the excited citizens. This Fierce Beast was enormous, with a large iron ball tied to its hind legs to reduce its combat power.

”Come on! Monster! Mirmidia Goddess will watch me! Grant me strength!” Sword Master Fernandez-Vazquez gripped the Rapier with one hand, while his silk bullfighting attire shone brightly under the sun. He circled the arena, paying his respects to all the spectators. He finally stopped before the grandstand where Duke Bilibali’s family sat, bowing deeply, his gaze particularly fervent as he looked at the noble lady seated behind Duke Silva. After a few laps, he raised the Rapier, puffed out his chest, indicating he was ready.

Duke Bilibali Silva twisted his gaze, appearing to be in his fifties with long brown hair and a prominent eagle hook nose, aside from which he was rather handsome.

Sitting behind him was the duke’s daughter Elno Salamanca Bilibali, a beautiful noble lady of twenty, whose eyes sparkled like blue gemstones as she curiously and eagerly watched the Sword Master.

Combat commenced!

The guards used Long Spears to fiercely jab the rear neck of the Fur-Wearing Rhinoceros, which roared madly from the pain and rushed into the arena, kicking up a large cloud of dust.

”This Fur-Wearing Rhinoceros likely weighs over two thousand kilograms,” Laine casually remarked from the grandstand.

”Ah ah ah!” Sword Master Vazquez was the first to launch an attack, shaking the large red cloth in his hands and provocatively taunting the rhinoceros incessantly.

Seeing this vile human continuously taunting him, the Fur-Wearing Rhinoceros, already injured, grew even more frenzied, pounding its robust hooves in a mad dash directly towards Vazquez: ”Uwaaah!”

The Sword Master calmly responded, gripping the red cloth tightly in one hand and deftly sliding aside to evade the rhinoceros’s attack. The meter-long sharp horns punctured the red cloth and the air behind it, sending dust and dirt flying everywhere.

”Wow! How impressive!”

”Well done! Vazquez!”

”Show your prowess, our Sword Master!”

The cheers from the audience filled the Sword Master with glory. He squinted his eyes, leveled the blade with his gaze, stood on tiptoe, pressed his arm downwards, exerted force, and aimed the Rapier directly at the rhinoceros’s shoulder blade.

”Slash~” The sharp Rapier’s tip penetrated the rhinoceros’s outer hide, spraying a burst of blood.

”Beautiful!” Duke Bilibali Silva stood up, clapping in satisfaction. As the duke applauded, the entire crowd erupted in thunderous applause.

”Clap clap~” Laine joined in clapping, shaking her head as the Lake Fairy’s Divine Chosen Champion: ”Unfortunately, it’s still not over.”

Indeed, within the arena, an unanticipated change occurred. The Sword Master was attempting to forcefully thrust the Rapier into the beast’s heart and bask in the crowd’s cheers, but the strong resistance from the Rapier’s tip made him realize the battle was far from over. The rhinoceros’s sturdy physique and tough hide robustly resisted Vazquez’s offense, and the injury drove the beast into further frenzy, forcing Vazquez to retreat by aggressively twisting its body.

”I suddenly have a bad feeling, evidently, this Bullfighter treated the rhinoceros like an ordinary bull.” Fidmund’s tone changed, the Holy Grail Knight exchanging a glance with Laine.
