Chapter 1141: Chapter 495: Nocturne

The Personal Guard Captain of Duke Margaret, Pablo, served Rubio loyally for many years. Although Estalia is a relatively peaceful nation, seldom attacked by outside forces, the strength of this Personal Guard Captain should not be underestimated. The rapier in his hand turned into a snake, striking directly at Laine’s face from below the side.

The duelists of Estalia have extensive experience with this. Generally speaking, when facing the sharp tip of a rapier, people instinctively fear it. When the tip nears someone’s face, most people will instinctively retreat.

Pablo held a grudge in his heart. No matter how strong or reputable Laine was, standing before an armed Pablo without wearing any armor or using any weapon was a significant act of disdain!

At the very least, he wanted to force Laine into a fluster, and that would be enough!

”For Margaret! For Mirmidia!” The tip of the Personal Guard Captain’s rapier was already closing in on Laine’s face.

However, Laine made just one move. The Count himself took a nimble sidestep, then reached out toward Pablo. Compared to the rapier’s tip, Laine’s hand speed was so fast that it was almost invisible.

”Ugh!” Before the rapier reached its mark, Pablo found his collar firmly grasped by Laine. The tightening around his neck began to rob him of the ability to breathe: ”Ugh!”

The immense power almost left Pablo suffocating. He struggled to hold onto his rapier as a sense of weightlessness followed.

He was lifted by Laine’s single hand, and in his agony, the rapier fell to the ground. Pablo clenched Laine’s hand gripping his collar, struggling desperately: ”Hoo~ Ha~ I will never...”

Before he finished speaking, the world spun, and the starry night sky twirled once in Pablo’s widened eyes. A heavy thud followed, shattering the silence in Moore Garden: ”Boom!”

The Personal Guard Captain was laid flat in a flower bed, losing consciousness.

Laine opened his eyes and turned his gaze toward the distant pavilion. His intent was clear: Are you done testing me?

”Pa pa pa~” Duke Margaret Rubio-the Sun Watcher clapped his hands as he appeared from behind the pavilion. He smiled and said: ”I am honored to witness your strength, Lord Laine. Please forgive my little test, hello, Lord Laine. Let me introduce myself, I am Duke Margaret Rubio-the Sun Watcher, you can just call me Rubio, and this is my son Juan-the Sun Watcher.”

”Greetings, Your Grace. I believe this is not a coincidence.” Laine’s words were always measured, his blue eyes flashing with the Light of Spiritual Power, waiting for Duke Margaret’s follow-up: ”Of course, I suppose if I hadn’t passed this test, it might really have been a coincidence? Lord Rubio? Am I interrupting?”

Laine’s words made Duke Margaret’s face unpleasant, and brought an indignant look to the faces of the Flying Eagle Knights protecting the Duke. However, the knights soon noticed the fallen Captain Pablo in the flower bed with some dismay.

Captain Pablo was already the strongest among them, and the Flying Eagle Knights knew that even if the rest went together, they wouldn’t be a match for Laine, who was indeed a tough opponent.

In this regard, Estalia differs from Tiriel, which is known as the ”War Dog” and ”Mercenary Kingdom”. Tiriel still has some hidden top fighters and has always been famed for producing mercenaries. There, one could even find a Mercenary Corps made up of an Elf Dragon Prince riding a dragon and a group of Green-skinned Big Guys.

Estalia is much weaker. Aside from the duelists, they have nothing to boast about in terms of strong fighters, except for the Flame Sun, Flying Eagle, and Spear of Justice knight corps. Other knights there are lackluster. The Duke’s office in Margaret is always open, and anyone willing to pay fifty Gold Coins (referring to Estalian Cast Gold Coins Exelant) can immediately receive a knight’s title!

If you hand over a hundred Gold Coins, not only the knight’s title, but a full set of knight’s equipment (old) and a low-grade farm horse are prepared for you!

What, you have three hundred Gold Coins?! Come on, brother, fill this form out, and Duke Margaret will provide you with a thatched cottage as a headquarters and announce to the whole city: A new Knight Corps has been established in Margaret!

”La... Lord Laine, such an honor to meet you!” Seeing the awkward atmosphere, the young knight Juan quickly stepped forward. ”I have always been your most ardent admirer, I swear by the Mirmidia Goddess! Always have been, since I was nine years old, I wanted to become a remarkable knight like you!”

Then, the young knight immediately made a standard gesture of apology, smiling shyly: ”I’m very sorry, Lord Laine, this whole thing happened because of me. I’m here on my own behalf to apologize to you.”

Laine understandingly nodded. Juan’s reaction was quite normal because most enthusiastic fans, upon meeting an idol, besides being excited, would want to test if the idol in front matches the one in their mind. It was inevitable Juan would have such a testable thought: ”Let this be the last time.”

The Divine Chosen Champion of the Lake Fairy reached out and shook hands with Juan, looking at the young man’s extremely excited expression, thinking that this guy probably planned not to wash his hand for days: ”So, Lord Rubio, Mr. Juan, what can I do for you? If nothing else, I need to rest early, as we’ll leave Margaret tomorrow.”
