Chapter 1114: Chapter 483: Cyclops

Silver energy lingered around the hammerhead of Mjolnir, where lightning and fire intertwined. Laine’s heavy strike slammed onto the Cyclops’ shoulder, and amidst the sound of bone cracking, the Cyclops clutched its shoulder and staggered back repeatedly before finally collapsing onto the ground.

The Giant Beast’s scapula shattered, and the Cyclops roared furiously several times: ”Humans...kill...meat...eat!”

Such an injury might grievously wound and cripple an ordinary person, but for the Cyclops, it’s merely a minor scratch. The energy from Chaos Mutation and its robust muscles easily overcame the shattered bones, and the Giant Beast roared and prepared to stand up to continue its assault: ”Humans...die!”

”No, just stay there, it’s fine.” At this moment, Veronica’s voice rang out. She extended a hand wrapped in black lace gloves, and the power of the Wind of Light surged from her fingertips: ”Amentok’s Net!”

The Cyclops suddenly realized something was amiss. The visual acuity granted by the Eye of Chaos made it immediately look down at the ground beneath its feet.

Surrounding the area of roughly two square meters where it stood were four sigils of Wind of Light Hayhee.

”Hunter, finally becomes the prey!” Not far away, the Jialan Witch closed her eyes, skillfully manipulating the magic.

”No!!!” Dozens of bright filaments shot out from the Hayhee sigils, binding the Cyclops’ body. Veronica immediately recited the next spell: ”Lava Eruption!”

”Boom~ Boom boom!” The ground beneath the Cyclops cracked open, and scorching lava gushed forth. The blistering lava engulfed the Cyclops’ figure, forcing its tough skin and flesh to endure the ordeal. Even possessing strong Magic Resistance, the Cyclops still groaned and howled in pain, retreating repeatedly. Its flesh was melting, and its proud muscles and bones were gradually turning charred black in the golden lava.

This was lava with a temperature of over a thousand degrees, not Magic Energy.

At this time, Laine approached. The Count reached out and grasped the Goddess of Revenge.

”Die!”

Blood splattered, and the Cyclops’ head soared into the air.

The headless corpse trembled a few times before crashing to the ground. Immoral blood seeped into the lava, turning into a haze of black mist. As Veronica cut off the supply of magical power, the lava rapidly cooled, and the ground would gradually return to normal.

”Snap~” Laine sheathed the Goddess of Revenge. He lifted the dripping head of the Cyclops with one hand and high-fived Veronica with the other. A faint smile appeared on the Count’s face: ”Even though we haven’t partnered in a long time, we still have such great synergy. Well done, my dear; we ended the battle in just five minutes.”

”Without collaboration, how could I be your partner?” Veronica also felt satisfied with the results, the Jialan Witch’s eyes glowed, recalling the times she ventured with Laine.

This is the synergy between two people; just a glance is enough to communicate their intentions.

After realizing the Cyclops was tough to deal with, Veronica immediately understood that direct assault wasn’t feasible. They needed to use some technique to force the Cyclops into a corner. After exchanging glances, Laine quickly engaged the Cyclops in combat, while the Jialan Witch began setting a Magic Trap. With precise calculations, Laine’s attacks effectively forced the Cyclops into the trap. Veronica triggered the trap, weakening and restraining the Giant Beast, allowing Laine to deliver the finishing blow.

Otherwise, the Cyclops’ tenacity and agility would have made it quite challenging to kill such a Giant Beast.

”Do you have any decent coordination with that Princess Jialan? I suppose the first time you fought alongside her, she was acting like a novice, directly casting powerful offensive spells, making you hesitant to approach?” Veronica’s sweet apricot eyes were filled with teasing and sarcasm as she said: ”How does being restrained feel?”

”You know quite well, my Great Witch.” Laine put away the Cyclops’ head, indicating for Veronica to follow him into the manor house: ”But Teresa is improving; that was her first adventure.”

”To defeat your opponent, you must understand your opponent.” Veronica proudly raised her chin: ”My mentor taught me that.”

”Alright, let’s check the clues.” Laine wisely ended the topic and entered the manor house with Veronica.

As expected, there were signs of battle everywhere inside the manor house. Straw bales were stained with fresh blood, and several corpses of Wandering Knights lay scattered in the manor house, which seemed originally used for storing livestock and grain.

”Uh~ Uhh...” As Laine crouched down to inspect the situation, a faint cry came from the straw bales.

”Dear, come quickly; we have a survivor here!” Veronica called out in surprise, gesturing for Laine to come over quickly.

”Coming.”

It was a gravely injured Wandering Knight, covered in blood. A Long Spear pierced through his abdomen, his chest deeply caved in, bleeding profusely and clearly not long for this world. Seeing someone coming, he coughed, the light in his eyes quickly dimming: ”Who...are you?”

”I am Laine, Laine Macado, the Lady’s Divine Chosen Champion.” Laine crouched beside him: ”Sorry I came late.”

”I’ve heard your name...” The Wandering Knight nodded: ”As you can see, the manor was attacked. A few of us stayed behind to let the civilians and the Company Commander escape while dealing with the Cyclops... cough cough, but due to weak training, we suffered a tragic defeat... failed to complete the mission... cough cough, cough cough cough~”

”Mission?” Laine quickly pressed further: ”What mission? Did you steal the Sea God Trident?!”

”The mission is in my chest... as for the Trident you mentioned, I don’t... know...” The Wandering Knight weakly shook his head, his pupils gradually dilating until they completely scattered.

”He’s dead.” Veronica squatted down, reaching into the Wandering Knight’s chest to extract a letter, which read: ”Dear Gonzalez, please follow Sir Kristo and deliver the treasure to Margaret. May Mirmidia bless your steps, your loyal Lord Llorente.”

”Treasure?” Laine curiously took the letter from Veronica, expressing his confusion: ”Strange, this letter doesn’t mention which Knight Corps this Wandering Knight belongs to? That’s impossible!”

”Laine, look at this.” Veronica extracted a small flag from the deceased knight’s body.

The flag depicted a golden eagle, its wings spread and looking to the left. Behind it was a golden circle, surrounded by burning patterns resembling the sun.

”This is?!” Laine looked in disbelief at the blood-stained Eagle Banner: ”No! This can’t be!”

”What Knight Corps does this emblem belong to?” Veronica also turned her gaze to the blood-stained Eagle Banner: ”Laine, do you know?”

”This Knight Corps disappeared over four hundred years ago...”

”Its name was...”
