Chapter 1139: Chapter 494: Laine’s Little Fanboy

Juan Carlos the Sun Watcher, the legitimate son of Duke Rubio the Sun Watcher of Duke Margaret, and also the youngest son, has just passed the selection of the Flame Sun Knight Order, becoming a formal Flame Sun Knight, which is quite remarkable for a noble scion.

However, this also caused Duke Rubio the Sun Watcher of Duke Margaret to feel troubled; on one hand, the Duke is happy and proud of his youngest son’s excellence, yet on the other hand, he is troubled by it.

Because he has more than one son, his legitimate eldest son Felipe is twenty-nine this year, has accumulated considerable strength within the Kingdom, and has a group of his own supporters. The emergence of an outstanding youngest son is not really good news for inheritance.

Among the heirs of the lord, the legitimate son is undoubtedly the frontmost in the sole line of succession, just like in the ancient Celestial Dynasty, where establishing the heir among legitimate sons generally follows a procedure: appoint the eldest, appoint the virtuous, appoint the beloved.

Even though Felipe, as the legitimate eldest son, is the first-ranked heir, Juan is also a legitimate son, and it is entirely possible for him to contend. The future, who knows what it holds?

Duke Rubio has been plagued by headaches because of this matter for a long time.

At this time, the palace guard brought news that Laine had arrived at Margaret!

And Juan happens to be a fervent admirer of Laine! The first time this youngest son heard about Laine was during the championship duel in Mijordenhaven, when he defeated the Crushing Bear Bireg. Since both the White Wolf Church and the Saintess Order have detailed descriptions of the combat process, Laine’s exploits naturally were turned into poetry. The then nine-year-old boy remembered it deeply after hearing it once.

Thereafter, Laine went to Brittania; the distance between the Knight Kingdom and Estalia is not far. Over the years, Laine’s heroic deeds continuously flowed into Estalia, into Juan’s ears. It is no exaggeration to say that Juan grew up listening to Laine’s stories. The reason he is so outstanding is that he, as a young boy, swore to himself that he would become an exceptional knight like Lord Laine.

For Juan, the highest level of praise for a person is: ”You fight like Laine.”

It is worth mentioning that there are quite a few noble scions like Juan throughout the Old World.

Thus, Juan completed all the knight courses at the Margaret War Goddess Academy on his own in nine years and successfully earned his Knight’s Spurs, becoming an official knight.

The Duke immediately thought of a perfect way to solve the problem, isn’t this youngest son quite an admirer of Laine?

Then send him to serve under Laine!

First, by sending Juan away, he can be kept away from the struggle for inheritance, most beneficially ensuring the smooth transmission of the noble title; since his youngest son has the ability, let him find a way to secure a noble title himself.

Second, by sending Juan to serve under Laine, this is equivalent to establishing a connection with this great noble who holds terrible influence in Brittania, a hidden alliance!

Third, the distance between Brittania and Estalia is not far, from Boldro to Margaret by fast passenger ship takes only some ten days, so Rubio, who dotes on his youngest son, needn’t worry about not being able to see Juan again.

A win-win-win situation! The matter is decided!

However, before that, Duke Rubio the Sun Watcher of Duke Margaret knows he still needs to find someone to test whether Laine is indeed as formidable as the legends say. This wasn’t deliberately questioning or looking down, but a father’s prudence; after all, Juan is his beloved own son, not seeing with his own eyes, Rubio is uncomfortable.

Thus, the Duke and his entourage went directly toward the Eastern Palace.

Meanwhile, inside a secret chamber in the corridor beside the banquet hall of the Eastern Palace.

The Grand Master of the Margaret Knight Corps furrowed his brow tight, biting his teeth, with a somewhat embarrassed and angry look: ”So, I’ve been deceived?! The Sea God Trident cannot help us in an expedition to Arabi? But how do I know you are not deceiving me as well?”

”The Son of the Sea God won’t deceive using Manannan’s reputation!” said Fidmund unceremoniously, ”Put away your insatiable ambition; the outcome of attempting to use the Sea God Trident will incur the Sea God’s wrath. You will be cursed; as soon as your ships hoist the sails, the Sea God’s Fury will engulf you, tearing you to pieces!”

Enzo Moretti’s eyebrows were almost knitted together; he wanted to retort to Fidmund, to tell this heir of Duke Boldro that you are full of lies, I don’t believe you one bit, your Holy Grail is full of corruption.

However, the Grand Master of the Knight Corps calmed down slightly and thought about it, realizing Laine and Fidmund have no reason to deceive him?

First, the Holy Grail Knights always tell the truth, second, Fidmund, as the heir of the Son of the Sea God family, wouldn’t jest with Sea God Manannan.

Thinking of this, the Grand Master of the Margaret Knight Corps felt somewhat embarrassed, his face flushed: ”Then did you come exclusively to Margaret to mock me?”

This old guy just doesn’t get it, does he? Fidmund’s forehead veins throbbed. He thought about why this Grand Master clearly knows he was deceived, yet unwilling to admit fault?!

”No, as I said, I came to talk to you.” Laine gestured for Fidmund to calm down, raising his hand: ”Obviously, Master Enzo Moretti, you were also deceived by vampires; in this case, we are all victims, am I right?”
