Chapter 1130: Chapter 490: Alfred’s Spring

”Oh oh oh!” Alfred’s eyes lit up as the Temple Knight took the initiative to make conversation: ”Hello, miss, I am Alfred, a Temple Knight of the Justice Church.”

”Sorry, Mr. Alfred.” The waitress smiled with formal politeness: ”Excuse me.”

”May I have the honor of knowing your name?” Alfred immediately picked up the thread of the conversation: ”I don’t know how to address you.”

”My name is Claudia.”

The Temple Knight took the opportunity to chat with this maid, and Laine, seeing this, smiled playfully and gave Veronica a look: ”Alfred’s springtime has arrived~”

”Just mind your own business!” Veronica returned Laine’s look with annoyance: ”What does Alfred’s springtime have to do with you?”

”I was just expressing some emotion...” Laine quickly shrugged in surrender.

”Even expressing emotion is not allowed!” Veronica glared fiercely at Laine. The New Year’s turkey banquet marked the establishment of Laine’s backyard alliance, where they agreed to internal competition and external unity.

”I’m not interested, Veronica, I prefer someone like you.” Laine had to emphasize, and Veronica, linking her arm with his, knew Laine well enough to know he wasn’t lying, so she let it go.

Veronica knew Laine’s sense of aesthetics was slightly different from normal people’s. The maid named Claudia in front of them had a voluptuous figure, with curves in all the right places, fiery eyes, thick lips, and a high nose bridge. This kind of beauty that normal people would find stunning was just considered not ugly by Laine. He preferred more delicate and sweeter looks like Surya and Veronica.

The maid led Laine and the others to their designated room and opened the door: ”Well, I’ll leave you here. Please rest well, and if you need anything, you can find me at the front desk.”

”Okay.” Laine acknowledged her words, and the maid waited for about ten seconds. Seeing that Laine didn’t ask her to stay, she left somewhat disappointed.

”Ah~” Laine smiled wryly and shook his head. He turned to ask: ”Does anyone feel like going out for a walk before dinner?”

”Ah~ dear friend, I think I’m in love.” Alfred said, a bit dazed.

”Heh~ men.” Veronica sneered non-stop, and the Jialan Witch said directly: ”I want to take a nap, Laine, you go wander around.”

With that, Veronica gave Laine a peck on the cheek and went back to her room to rest.

”I’ll go out with you, Lord Laine, I have a few things I’d like to ask you about.” Fidmund nodded. The likes of Holy Grail Knights were pretty much tireless.

”Alfred?” Laine turned to his childhood companion: ”Your foot is injured...”

”I think I love her, dear friend...”

”What makes you think you understand love???!!!” Laine felt like the blood vessels in his temples were about to burst, and he vented with a head full of black lines.

”But don’t you think she’s very beautiful? Oh, those eyes, that figure, and the way she looked when she received us...” Alfred murmured in a trance: ”Oh! She’s like a rose with thorns~”

”Fidmund?” Laine, too lazy to bother with him, said directly to Fidmund.

”Hmm?” The Holy Grail Knight wore a similarly pained expression.

”Is your urine yellow?”

”What?”

”Splash him awake, would you? Do me a favor.”

”...I must decline.”

The room fell into an awkward silence. Staring at the absent-minded Alfred, Laine and Fidmund exchanged a look filled with helplessness. Finally, Laine decided to speak: ”Afu?”

”What’s up?” The Temple Knight immediately caught on to something and quickly got up from the sofa: ”Laine, my dear friend, I just knew you’d be willing to help me, right?! You understand women best, teach me quickly, would you? How did you win over Marchioness Surya? Teach me some tricks!”

”...Afu, what I meant to say is, if you want to pursue that maid, you’d better hurry, otherwise if she changes her shift, you might never see her again.” Laine’s words made the Temple Knight wake up as if from a dream. He chanted a divine art in the room. A golden glow illuminated the entire space.

Eighth Ring Divine Skill, Holy Healing Technique.

Thanks to the Holy Healing Technique’s effect, Alfred ensured he wouldn’t be a limper for the time being. Then the Temple Knight, with still somewhat unstable steps, walked out.

...I’m the shaky steps dividing line...

Thirty minutes later, Margaret, Central Garden.

Here was a sea of flowers, composed of pomegranates and carnations. Within the garden were jugglers performing tricks and minstrels singing of heroic deeds, along with artists who would paint a portrait on the spot for just a gold coin. Noblewomen and children frolicked, while gentlemen, merchants, and nobles whispered among themselves in the garden. Everyone was dressed appropriately, exuding a luxurious decadence. There were many guards at the garden entrance, and anyone who didn’t meet the dress code would be turned away. A sign at the entrance read ”No beggars or dogs allowed.”

So despite hearing the residents of the Southern Realm touting freedom all day, seeing their ”freedom” firsthand revealed that it wasn’t quite the case. The Empire and Brittania people enjoyed mocking the Southern Realm’s ”*style freedom.”

Near the garden’s pool, Laine and Fidmund walked one behind the other.

”Lord Laine, you don’t seem too optimistic about Mr. Alfred’s pursuit of that maid?” Fidmund initiated the conversation first.
