Peaceful Farm Life

Chapter 1896: Chapter 1897: You Are Too Heartless

Before he even reached the doorstep while riding a horse, he saw his mother and father standing at the door, facing his direction. Clearly, they were hoping he would regret, return to their side, and in that instant, tears welled up in his eyes.

Because he was tearing up, even as he got closer to his mother and father, Su Yi Jing found it difficult to see them clearly.

Noticing someone riding towards them, An Jing’s eyes immediately lit up. She quickly grabbed Xiao Changyi, who was standing beside her, and asked, ”Is that Jing’er coming back? Only Jing’er would return from that direction, it must be him.”

Xiao Changyi did not immediately answer An Jing, but there was a sparkle in his eyes too. Once the person riding the horse got much closer and he could make out who it was, he said to An Jing, ”Jing Er, your son really is back, he’s truly back.”

The last few words left Xiao Changyi’s voice choked with emotion. Their eldest son had been gone for more than three months, making him and his wife feel like they’d aged thirty years.

The more they thought about it, the more wronged they felt for their son.

These past three months felt like years, and every day was filled with grief; they couldn’t find any happiness in their hearts.

”Father! Mother!” As soon as Su Yi Jing got in front of his parents, he dismounted and knelt before them, ”Your unfilial son is back to see you!”

”Jing’er, stand up, get up quickly.” An Jing hastily helped him to his feet, and after looking him over, she was relieved to see that he hadn’t lost any weight. She couldn’t help but smile, repeating, ”Not thin, not thin, not thin...”

”Mother...” Su Yi Jing was deeply pained. He hadn’t lost weight, but his mother and father had become much more haggard.

”Jing’er—” Suddenly, An Jing embraced Su Yi Jing and began to wail, pounding his back as she cried, ”How could you be so heartless to your mother and father, how could you... Five years... you truly hardened your heart... Your father and I couldn’t bear not seeing you for five years, but you intended to not see us for five years... Ah...” In the end, An Jing was sobbing so hard she couldn’t speak, doing nothing but cry aloud.

In front of others, Su Yi Jing would hold back, but here, in front of his parents, he didn’t have to contain himself.

Tears streamed down his face unchecked as he blamed himself painfully, ”Mother, I’m sorry, I’m sorry... It’s all Jing’er’s fault, Jing Er shouldn’t have said those things, please don’t cry... Don’t cry, Mother... It’s all Jing Er’s fault, it’s this son’s lack of filial piety... I should have come back often to visit you and father, no matter how hard it was to get away, I should have come back to see you and father... Please stop crying, will you? Mother...”

An Jing’s loud sobbing even drew Tobanya Meng Zhuqing and them over. Seeing An Jing hugging Su Yi Jing and both mother and son crying so heartbreakingly, Tobanya and the others couldn’t bear to watch and turned their heads away.

Xiao Changyi’s eyes were already red, and he tried his best to control his emotions. Once he managed to calm down, he consoled, ”Jing Er, Jing Er is back to see you. He didn’t really wait five years to return, so don’t cry anymore.”

An Jing also wanted to stop crying, but the tears wouldn’t stop. After trying for a long time, she finally stopped and even helped Su Yi Jing wipe his tears, ”Jing Er, how can you cry when you’re a man... your mother isn’t crying anymore, so you shouldn’t cry either... It’s good that you’re back, it’s good that you’re back, it’s good that you’re back...”

As she spoke, An Jing’s voice choked again, as if she was about to lose control and cry once more.

At long last, her son had returned.

He hadn’t truly been heartless to the point of waiting five years to come back and see them.
