Chapter 1890: Chapter 1891: You’re Rarely This Sweet-Tongued

In their view, as long as Feng Feiyan can conceive a child, all will be well.

This is also why the Retired Emperor and the Empress Dowager insisted on Feng Feiyan marrying three instead of just one.

They simply wanted Feng Feiyan to conceive a child as soon as possible.

...

That day, Su Yi Jing wanted to go to bed early, but Feng Feiyan had not yet finished reviewing the memorials, so she refused to sleep. Su Yi Jing had no choice but to accompany Feng Feiyan in reviewing the memorials. As he read, ultimately, the task of reviewing the memorials fell to Su Yi Jing.

Su Yi Jing reviewed the memorials much faster than Feng Feiyan and did it particularly well.

Feng Feiyan instantly turned into an admiring fan, sitting beside him, gazing at Su Yi Jing with her face cupped in her hands as he dealt with the memorials.

While processing the memorials, Su Yi Jing glanced at her and saw her smiling at him. He immediately curved his lips, ”Who is really the Emperor, you or I?”

”Though I am the Emperor, I feel I am not suitable to be one. I feel I can’t do it well. You do much better than I do...” Saying this, Feng Feiyan felt a bit disheartened, thinking she was quite useless, handling even the memorials so slowly.

Upon hearing this, Su Yi Jing paused his work on the memorials and comforted her, ”I was groomed as my father’s successor from a young age. You, on the other hand, were not trained as the Crown Prince since childhood. You were temporarily pulled in by your father to be this Emperor. You’re unfamiliar with many things, so you handle them slower than I do, but you’re already doing well enough. Although you’re a bit slow, your comments on the memorials are spot on. With time, you will be just like me.”

But Feng Feiyan shook her head, ”I don’t want to be like you. I never wanted to be this Emperor. I just want to marry you.”

”Your words are sweet indeed.” Su Yi Jing was successfully pleased by her, setting down his imperial brush and pulling her over to sit on his lap. And he wrapped his arms around her.

”You’re reviewing the memorials, don’t do that.” Feng Feiyan struggled a bit, but when she couldn’t break free, she gave up, just blushing.

Su Yi Jing rested his chin on her shoulder, breathing warmly into her ear, ”I can review them while holding you.”

Saying this, he kissed her once, then continued reviewing the memorials.

Feng Feiyan’s face reddened even more, but she dared not turn around, sitting stiffly in his embrace, watching him continue with the memorials.

Only after Su Yi Jing had finished reviewing all the memorials, did he thoroughly lay Feng Feiyan down on the table and kissed her deeply. Only when Feng Feiyan was completely soft did he carry her to bed.

As Feng Feiyan had to attend the morning court meeting the next day, Su Yi Jing did not dare to tire her too much.

At the Hour of the Pig, he let Feng Feiyan sleep.

But at a quarter past midnight, while holding Feng Feiyan in sleep, Su Yi Jing suddenly heard footsteps outside the door. He perked up his ears, immediately opened his eyes in alertness, and softly woke Feng Feiyan without letting her make a sound, instructing her to sleep further inside while he took the sword from the bedside.

The door latch was gradually being opened by a sword, just like when the people from Slayer Tower came for him last time, and it sounded like just one person’s footsteps. Therefore, Su Yi Jing felt assured.

”It’s alright, it’s my second brother’s man.” While calming Feng Feiyan, Su Yi Jing also instructed her to lie down again.

After tucking Feng Feiyan in and dropping the curtain to shield her from view, Su Yi Jing lit the palace lamp.

Just in time, the black-clad man entered.

It was still the black-clad man from before.

Upon seeing Su Yi Jing light the lamp, he said, ”Young Master Su, the Young Master has arrived and is currently in Changhuan Pavilion.”
