Peaceful Farm Life

Chapter 1888: Chapter 1889: Never Forget Your Original Aspiration

As soon as Su Yi Jing finished speaking, Sheng Qingfeng, who had remained silent all along, fixed his gaze on Su Yi Jing and asked, ”Are you really a farmer’s child?”

Su Yi Jing replied without changing his expression, ”Whether or not I am a farmer’s child is irrelevant. What you need to understand is that I am the one who can help you leave this harem and achieve your life goals and ambitions.”

Zou Qian was still somewhat skeptical of Su Yi Jing’s words. This matter was of great importance, and he couldn’t trust easily; otherwise, he’d not only risk himself but also implicate his clan, which would be very bad.

So, Zou Qian said, ”We’ll wait for the Emperor to speak to us. If it’s truly as you said, naturally, we’ll believe you.”

Su Yi Jing nodded, expressing understanding.

...

Three days later, Zou Qian, Liang Zhiyao, and Sheng Qingfeng came again to Jingchen Palace. But this time, it wasn’t Su Yi Jing who invited them; it was the Emperor Feng Feiyan who summoned them.

Feng Feiyan asked the three of them to come to Jingchen Palace, and the three of them vaguely began to believe in the words of Su Yi Jing.

When Feng Feiyan repeated Su Yi Jing’s previous promise to them, the three of them were completely convinced.

Furthermore, Feng Feiyan also promised some additional things.

The three immediately knelt down to express gratitude for the imperial grace.

Feng Feiyan said calmly, ”You originally didn’t want to marry me, just as I didn’t want to marry you all. But you come from a noble family, and I belong to the Royal Family; many things cannot follow our hearts’ desires. Your entering the palace actually represents not just you individuals but your families, and I am the emperor of Wufeng. You understand these even without me saying. As for what kind of people you are and how talented you might be, I know very well. I hope that after you leave the palace, you will not forget your original intentions and earnestly serve Wufeng.”

The three bowed again and swore to the heavens, ”The Emperor grants us freedom and promises us high positions, allowing us to use our talents to achieve our ideals and ambitions. As citizens of Wufeng, we are naturally forever loyal to Wufeng, ready to sacrifice our lives for it.”

Feng Feiyan nodded, expressing satisfaction.

At this moment, Su Yi Jing spoke, ”The Retired Emperor is not in good health and cannot withstand disturbances. For now, you need to continue staying in the palace. Only when a suitable opportunity is found can we let you leave the palace to take up posts and be ennobled. This must remain a secret among us, not a single word should be leaked.”

Liang Zhiyao said, ”Don’t worry, Xiao Guijun, we are people who understand the importance of matters and naturally won’t speak recklessly.”

Su Yi Jing added, ”There is nothing you need to do now, just wait to leave the palace.”

”Alright.” Zou Qian, Liang Zhiyao, and Sheng Qingfeng had no objections. They must seize this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity well!

Actually, the three of them didn’t really understand why Su Yi Jing and Feng Feiyan insisted on having them leave the palace. Clearly sending them to the Cold Palace was a much better strategy than allowing them to leave the palace and promising them so many benefits. But since this was beneficial to them, plus Feng Feiyan was the Emperor, they did not ask further.

Nonetheless, the three consistently believed that Feng Feiyan truly favored Su Yi Jing too much, even to the extent of wanting to dissolve the harem for Su Yi Jing.

Having said what needed to be said, Zou Qian and the others were very happy to agree, and there was nothing more to say, so Feng Feiyan sent Zou Qian and the others back.

After seeing Zou Qian and the others off, Feng Feiyan smiled at Su Yi Jing and said, ”Satisfied?”

”Mm.” After a pause, ”If they weren’t truly talented, I wouldn’t have let you promise them positions and titles.”
