Peaceful Farm Life

Chapter 1880: Chapter 1881: I Thank His Ancestors for Eight Generations!

Liang Zhiyao, being straightforward, always speaks his mind. Upon hearing Zou Qian’s words, he said discontentedly, ”This is so unfair. We’ve been in the palace for so long, and haven’t stepped out once. We might never get to leave this deep palace. But he’s different, in just a few days, he’s already left the palace. I heard that he even has the Emperor’s Token in his hand.”

Sheng Qingfeng, known for his steady nature, is the son of the Great General and doesn’t speak much usually. He rarely gets involved in what Liang Zhiyao and Zou Qian are talking about, but today he took the initiative to speak, ”Zhiyao, didn’t Brother Qian say already? He is favored by the Emperor, something we can only envy.”

Liang Zhiyao said, ”Even if I can’t get it, I still envy him. I dream of leaving the palace. Clearly, I joined the military camp with you, but we didn’t become Generals, we ended up in the palace. Now, don’t even think of being a General, we can hardly do anything.”

Sheng Qingfeng didn’t say anything more.

Yet, Zou Qian chuckled slightly, ”In the harem, it’s always who is favored that shines brightly. You despise competing for favor for privilege; you can’t blame others.”

Liang Zhiyao said, ”I’m a dignified man, I can’t do such things as competing for favor like the concubines!”

Then, perplexed, Liang Zhiyao said, ”I haven’t seen Xiao Guijun compete for favor either, so why does the Emperor pamper Xiao Guijun so much?”

”He has only been in the palace a few days, how do you know he hasn’t competed for favor?” Zou Qian set up a chessboard and played with Sheng Qingfeng while he smiled slowly. ”But I heard, he saved the Emperor.”

Liang Zhiyao suddenly realized, ”So he saved the Emperor, no wonder.”

”Do you guys really think he is a farmer’s son?” Suddenly, Sheng Qingfeng spoke again.

Zou Qian laughed, ”Whether he is a farmer’s son, I don’t know, but the Emperor and he must know for sure.”

”Isn’t that nonsense!” Liang Zhiyao replied annoyed. Then, he dreamed aloud, ”If the Emperor drives us out of the palace because of him, I would definitely thank his ancestors for eight generations!”

This wasn’t an insult but rather sincere.

Sheng Qingfeng rarely cooperated, ”I would also thank his ancestors for eight generations.”

Zou Qian couldn’t help but laugh, ”Should I also thank his ancestors for eight generations?”

”If you want to thank him, we have no objection.” Liang Zhiyao laughed heartily. ”Provided he has the ability to get the Emperor to expel us from the palace, I truly don’t want to stay in this palace at all.”

Zou Qian didn’t want to stay in the palace either, and he sighed for once, ”To think we have so much ambition...”

Sheng Qingfeng didn’t want to stay in the palace either, but he didn’t sigh or feel sentimental. Instead, he poured cold water on them to wake them up, ”Compared to us being expelled from the palace, the likelihood of us being pushed into the Cold Palace is higher.”

Since it was really rare for people from the harem to be expelled, he truly didn’t place any hope in Feng Feiyan expelling them from the palace to grant them freedom.

Liang Zhiyao immediately retorted, ”Can’t you think more positively! I’m still hoping to leave the palace and achieve great deeds!”

Sheng Qingfeng placed a white piece on the chessboard, giving no face at all as he said, ”Don’t daydream in broad daylight.”

Liang Zhiyao: ”...”

Zou Qian laughed while holding a black piece, playing against Sheng Qingfeng. Sheng Qingfeng and Liang Zhiyao grew up together, even though Sheng Qingfeng rarely talked, he often bantered with Liang Zhiyao, and every time, Liang Zhiyao would lose the argument. Zou Qian, having seen it many times, got used to their ways.

...

On this day, February 14th, at midnight, a man dressed in black stealthily entered Jingchen Palace.
