Peaceful Farm Life

Chapter 1870: Chapter 1871: Not Good at All

Hearing this, the Empress Dowager just sighed and shook her head, saying nothing further.

Actually, she could see that her daughter, having become the Emperor, was not happy at all.

The Retired Emperor lay there, weakly speaking, ”Feiyan, since you like that farmer, then make him Your Majesty. However, it’s not easy being part of the royal family, there are too many intrigues and too many rules. He grew up as a farmer and surely isn’t accustomed to this. Find a secluded place for him in the palace, keep him as far away from this as possible. After all, you like him, and he did save your life. Although we are Royal Family, we know gratitude and repay our debts, and we protect those we care about.”

”Thank you, Father,” Feng Feiyan said emotionally. Her father was always so understanding. It’s a pity that since he became Emperor, his health has never been good.

”No need to thank me, he saved you, it’s only right,” the Retired Emperor Wufeng said with a kindly smile, his tone still weak. ”When he enters the palace, bring him here. I’d like to see what kind of person he is that won your affection.”

”Alright, I’ll bring him then,” Feng Feiyan replied with a smile.

As she walked out from the palace where the Retired Emperor and Empress Dowager lived, Feng Feiyan sat on the imperial chariot, her heart saying, ”Yi Jing, I hope you don’t come, never come.”

It wasn’t that she feared he would torment her; she just wanted him to stay well in Xiyun, being the Prince of Xiyun.

...

Every New Year, An Jing and Xiao Changyi’s children would come to spend it with An Jing and Xiao Changyi, and this year was no exception.

But when Su Yixing, An Yiqing, An Yiyun, An Yiqi, An Yilin, and An Yizhi found out that after the New Year, Su Yi Jing would go to Wufeng as a farmer’s son to become Your Majesty in the Wufeng Imperial Palace, they all disagreed.

Not only did they disagree, but they were also strongly opposed. They felt it was too much for their eldest brother, and they did not want their eldest brother to suffer such a grievance at all.

But Su Yi Jing had made up his mind, and since An Jing and Xiao Changyi had already agreed, the six of them had no say despite their opposition.

Though their opposition was useless, it didn’t stop the six of them from disliking Feng Feiyan.

In their hearts, their eldest brother was like a second father; they never wanted him to suffer, not even a little. Now, their eldest brother was suffering greatly, all because of Feng Feiyan! How could they possibly like Feng Feiyan!

Even though the whole family was together for the New Year, not a person was missing, it was not a happy occasion.

The entire family was overshadowed by a heavy mood.

Su Yi Jing knew it was all his doing, feeling very guilty, thinking he was truly unfilial, but he still did not change his decision to stay in Wufeng for five years.

Finally, it was the seventh day of the New Year, the day Su Yi Jing departed for Wufeng.

Su Yi Jing was not going to Wufeng alone; he also took with him a trusted guard named Ye Yi.

Su Yi Jing had Ye Yi lead the horse while he bid farewell to An Jing and the others.

An Jing, Xiao Changyi, Su Yixing, and the others all stood at the door to see Su Yi Jing off, everyone’s hearts heavy with emotion.

”Eldest brother, please don’t go!” An Yiqi was the first who couldn’t hold back, telling Su Yi Jing not to go to Wufeng.

Su Yi Jing first patted An Yiqi’s head, then the heads of the other two young beauties, and then instructed, ”I have entrusted you to your third and fourth brothers. They will take good care of you, and you must listen to them well.”
