Chapter 1855: Chapter 1856: Humiliation

”Emperor of Xiyun, I have something to discuss...” Suddenly, Feng Feiyan found it somewhat difficult to speak.

Su Chengyu laughed and said, ”Emperor Feng, feel free to speak.”

Feng Feiyan glanced at An Yiqing, who had been sitting beside her accompanying her, and then said, ”The Third Prince is humorous and witty; I wish to seek a marriage proposal to Your Majesty’s Third Prince.”

Actually, she didn’t want to marry An Yiqing at all, but her father had said that if she married a prince or royal of Xiyun, it would further strengthen the friendly relations between Xiyun and Wufeng.

Marriage between two countries is the best way to reinforce relations.

The Crown Prince and the Crown Prince, as successors to the throne and empire of Xiyun, surely would not marry out, so she simply would not embarrassing herself by proposing to marry the Crown Prince or Crown Prince. Besides, she knew this Third Prince An Yiqing, thus she thought of proposing to him.

She already has three men as decoration in her palace; for the sake of Wufeng’s people, marrying another man is also fine.

When Su Chengyu heard Feng Feiyan propose to marry An Yiqing, the smile on his face disappeared. But before he could speak, An Yiqing became infuriated and said, ”Feng Feiyan, are you deliberately insulting me? I, a dignified Third Prince of Xiyun, would marry into your house as a concubine?!”

The position of Empress has already been taken by someone; if he were to actually marry over, at best he would be granted the title of Your Majesty. Even if it’s Your Majesty, it is still as a concubine, not a wife!

No wonder An Yiqing was so furious.

”Qinger, don’t be rude!” Su Chengyu reprimanded. Though Feng Feiyan is a monarch of a nation, as the Third Prince of Xiyun, he shouldn’t be so impolite as to call her by name directly.

An Yiqing said nothing more, merely glared furiously at Feng Feiyan, genuinely feeling humiliated by Feng Feiyan.

Feng Feiyan first expressed some apology to An Yiqing, indicating that she did not intend to insult An Yiqing, and then said, ”If Your Majesty the Third Prince does not wish it, I certainly will not insist. I just thought that if Your Majesty the Third Prince marries me, the relations between Xiyun and Wufeng would be more stable.” Pausing, ”Surely you can see what I mean, Emperor of Xiyun.”

Su Chengyu nodded, indicating his understanding.

After a while, he said, ”Emperor Feng, I also am not afraid to offend you, but Emperor Feng, you should understand in your heart that the prince is my elder brother’s flesh and blood, and the royal is my flesh and blood. You tell me, in this world, is there any father willing to have their son marry into someone else’s house, as a concubine at that? Even if my brother and I agreed, the people of Xiyun would not agree.”

The princes and royals of Xiyun internally represent the face of the imperial family of Xiyun, and externally represent the face of the entire Xiyun.

In this way, Feng Feiyan understood, gracefully smiled and said, ”I was presumptuous, and I hope the Emperor won’t take offense.”

She was merely seeking the marriage for the sake of Wufeng’s people; regarding whether it succeeds or not, she hoped it would succeed, but it wouldn’t be a big deal if it didn’t.

At least, in her view, among the many emperors she had met, Su Chengyu was the most righteous and kind-hearted emperor. Since Su Chengyu had agreed to the bilateral friendship, then even without the marriage alliance, during Su Chengyu’s lifetime, the relations between both countries should remain friendly.

Su Chengyu also gracefully smiled and said, ”Emperor Feng is also considering the relations between the two countries, I would not hold Emperor Feng in fault; just hope that Emperor Feng would not bring up this matter again.”

Feng Feiyan said, ”That is only natural.”

After Su Chengyu took a sip of tea, he then said, ”All the matters to be discussed have been addressed. Emperor Feng should not rush to leave, let the Third Prince accompany Emperor Feng to enjoy the Imperial City, and not let your visit here be in vain.”
