Starting Off Survival With A Small Treehouse

Chapter 1236 - 643: The Beginning of a Decaying Dynasty

The alien invaders’ weakness is their ”Source of Life,” the red crystal.

A substance they have been seeking for tens of thousands of years, a hope of racial continuation.

Now, a large amount of this material is being stored on Earth.

Because on Earth, there is enough of the raw material for their entire race to continue for tens of thousands of years, a large number of alien invaders need to station here for extraction.

”I say, wasn’t the red glow that appeared during your invasion of Earth, causing Earth creatures to mutate, also related to your red crystals?” Xu Ying asked.

”Yes, the ammunition for that ray weapon was precisely those red crystals.”

The monster explained.

”Because of the threat from Earth’s humans, they decided at that time to destroy Earth’s humans at all costs, so they used this method to induce mutations in half of the planet’s creatures to attack the other half.”

”Isn’t your Source of Life very scarce? Why resort to such a method?” Xu Xin asked, ”Your conventional weapons are equally strong, aren’t they?”

”Although consuming part of the red crystal Source of Life, it was just a one-time expenditure.” The monster’s toothed mouth opened and closed, ”Comparing to prolonging the battle line, it’s better to strike hard directly, causing Earth’s life forms to ’civil war,’ which consumes less. After all, they also need to ’feed.’”

”So, your red crystals are not only the Source of Life but also the source of mutations for these mutant creatures,” Shi Wanyun concluded.

”Yes. The ’blood pattern mutation’ of these mutant creatures is also related to the red crystals.”

Saying this, the monster waved its hand slightly, and immediately a fingernail-sized object appeared in its hand.

It was a crystal emitting a crimson glow.

Though only the size of a fingernail, it illuminated the entire treehouse with its crimson light like a high-intensity bulb.

The crimson glow immediately enveloped Xu Xin and the other two, causing them to wrinkle their brows.

This feeling...

Was not very comfortable.

Xu Xin immediately recalled the radiation rock he had previously obtained from underground.

At that time, when the radiation rock cracked, such a light shone through the fissures, benefiting Mimi, Silver King, and Afu, even causing them to advance. The red glow wasn’t as dazzling back then.

At that time, when he was illuminated by the red glow, he felt a headache splitting, as if something was trying to tear open his scalp and drill out of his head.

Now, his physique was much stronger than before, having injected the elixir of life, and facing this even more dazzling red glow, he no longer had that feeling, but he still vaguely felt a discomfort.

The monster also noticed the displeasure in the three over the crystal in its hand and immediately put it away, saying, ”This is the red crystal I mentioned. On the other hemisphere of Earth, there is a crystal at least twenty meters in diameter, which is our target.”

”...I say, why is your crystal so bright!”

Xu Ying only removed the hand blocking her eyes after seeing the monster put the crystal away.

”It was so bright that my eyes couldn’t see for a moment. Is it true that your home planet’s crust is made of this material? Wouldn’t it constantly emit red light then...”

”I have never been to the home planet, but... in fact, it’s true.”

The monster took out the crystal again, but this time it held the crystal in its dark, twisted hand with many eyes, letting slivers of crimson light seep through the fingers.

”The home planet is indeed a crimson sphere, that’s what they told me. However, the light on the home planet is not as bright, because the crystal in my hand is condensed. I also told you earlier, the crystal on Earth is condensed because it had to be transported from the distant home planet, reducing its size was necessary.”

”I see, I thought everything on your home planet was this bright, and you were covered in eyes, which would be a bit odd...” Xu Ying commented, looking at its clenched fist.

”The light of the crimson crystals is relatively mild, probably... comparable to the brightness of the milky white crystals on Earth.” The monster once again put away the crystal with a reverse hand motion.

Hearing this, Shi Wanyun took out a treehouse core, its milky white light brightening the interior of the treehouse after the crimson light: ”About this level?”

The monster’s head nodded: ”Yes, just about this level.”

It seems the milky white crystals on Earth have quite a high similarity with the crimson crystals on that planet.

”Normally it’s this brightness, but the giant condensed crystal is not.”

The monster seemed to recall something, squinting its otherwise fully open eyes as if faced with strong light.

”The light of that crystal is excessively dazzling, and for their kind, covered in eyes and much more sensitive to light perception than humans, it is impossible to look directly at.”

”Have you... seen it with your own eyes?” Xu Xin asked.

”Yes.” The monster nodded, ”In another dimension. However, I, though having the same number of eyes as them, have a light sensitivity similar to humans on Earth, much weaker than theirs, so I could still look at it directly, but only for a moment before my eyes started to hurt.”
