Starting Off Survival With A Small Treehouse

Chapter 1225 - 639: Creating a New Race (Part 2)

At the same time, the scientists tried everything they could to study synthesis, but they couldn’t develop any substitutes.

Meanwhile, the number of alien species expanded excessively, consuming the substance at an almost insane speed.

This was a big problem.

If the alien species’ growth and consumption rate continued as it was, the remaining volume of this Source of Life on the planet, even if all resources from the planet’s various bizarre locations were exhausted, could not last more than five hundred years according to Earth’s time scale!

Five hundred years seemed like a long time, at least the current generation could live comfortably, but on a planet where technology had developed to the point the top rulers could almost live forever, to them...

Only live for another five hundred years?

That was terrifying!

Advanced intelligent beings would always be cautious in peaceful times.

Once this news spread, panic started sweeping across all territories on the planet.

These rulers originally wanted to control more resources in their hands, and when this news broke, they became even more frantic.

Consequently, a global world war broke out.

The war between territories armed with high-tech weapons was far more brutal than imagined.

In that war, countless species were wiped out, and the number of alien invaders reduced to 2% of its peak.

A very cruel war plunged the world into paralysis.

Fortunately, they had a technological foundation, and after roughly a hundred Earth years, they restored their peak technological standards.

Having experienced the world war, the alien species had reduced numbers, allowing them ample time as they greatly slowed down the consumption rate of the Source of Life.

Hence, all territories reached an agreement.

They pooled worldwide efforts to focus on space.

They needed to search for resources in outer space, to find the Source of Life necessary for their existence.

That marked the beginning of space colonization and exploration by alien species.

Back then, in Earth’s time units, it was nearly twenty thousand years ago.

Indeed, the alien invaders began space exploration about twenty thousand years ago, during the period when Earth’s humanity hadn’t formed civilization and was still in its primitive stages.

Also, twenty thousand years ago, the alien invaders underwent a period of technological development at super high speed, only to fall into a technological bottleneck.

During these twenty thousand years, limited by resource scarcity and knowledge understanding limits, their technology saw almost no progress.

They could only wander aimlessly in the boundless universe, seeking a fleeting future for their species already at a dead end.

A thousand years ago, they found Earth. This blue planet of the Milky Way both excited and terrified them.

Initially, they feared Earth’s human intelligence.

At the same time, their scientists frantically wanted to study the human brain, because if they had such a brain with great potential, their species’ technological development might be rebooted after twenty thousand years!

Later, however, they discovered the substance on this planet that thrilled them the most.

...

”...Earth’s...glowing white crystal?” Xu Xin whispered.

”Yes.” The creature nodded, ”The Earth’s crystal.”

”...Could it be that the glowing white crystal on Earth is related to your kind’s red crystal?” Xu Ying also followed up with a question.

”Yes.” The creature nodded.

”This is the first time in near twenty thousand years that their species discovered a substance related to the ’Source of Life’.”

The weight of these words was immense!

After twenty thousand years of searching, they finally found hope for the survival of their species.

Xu Xin and the others could fully feel their momentary joy and excitement.

But the victims were humans, so this matter was not something to discuss lightly.

”...Hmm? Wait a minute, shouldn’t this have happened soon after the invasion of Earth?” Xu Ying suddenly felt something was off, ”If Earth also had your Source of Life, why didn’t more alien species immigrate to Earth during the three hundred years I was enslaved?”

”There are two reasons.”

The creature answered Xu Ying’s question.

”Firstly, the planet is inherently unsuitable for their survival. The land is filled with terrifying substances that can dissolve them—water, and the air contains water molecules. In most regions, it rains frequently, making it challenging for them to survive. Earth, to them, is akin to a planet with very harsh environments.”

Hmm... that’s right.

If they wish to avoid water, they’ll stay away from oceans, but if the air is humid, there’s no hiding.

Yet for them, water...

”The second reason is the crystal.”

The creature continued.

”Earth’s glowing white crystal only bears a certain similarity to their red crystal that spreads across their planet at the material level and cannot be directly used. However, they can modify this crystal and, under certain conditions, transform it into a red crystal, but Earth doesn’t possess these conditions.”

”Oh...” Xu Ying understood immediately, ”So you need to transport the glowing white crystal mined from Earth back to your home planet?”

”Exactly.” The creature nodded its disproportionate head and continued, ”After the initial exhilaration, they realized the mining efficiency of the glowing white crystal was very low, and the conversion efficiency was not high. With their current technology, it stands roughly at a 500:1 ratio.”
