Starting Off Survival With A Small Treehouse

Chapter 1213 - 635: Cooperation? (2)

”Yingying...”

”Brother, you don’t know.” Xu Ying stared intently at the monster before her. ”I told you, this guy is very temperamental. One second it might be very friendly, and the next it could kill someone without warning. I don’t believe a word it says.”

Xu Ying held a very pessimistic view about this monster entering the World Tree.

Her mind was extremely chaotic now, and she even had thoughts of expelling this monster from the World Tree at all costs, even if it meant sacrificing many survivors.

Because this monster is completely insane!

Xu Ying and her team had collaborated with this monster more than once. Each time, her team would make significant progress, and simultaneously, they would suffer enormous losses!

Every time the team saw this monster, it felt like they were facing a great enemy.

But they had no choice. Back then, they couldn’t oppose this monster. Its identity, its power, were both beyond what the team could contend with, and as a result, they were forced to accept every collaboration.

Yet, it must be said...

This monster delivered all sorts of devices and technologies that they desperately needed each time.

In short, you simply couldn’t approach this guy with common sense!

Xu Ying’s words made everyone present tighten their hearts.

Of course, those present naturally didn’t trust the monster in front of them and were always vigilant. Although their guns were no longer pointed at the monster, everyone kept their weapons in hand.

How could a creature so bizarre, suddenly appearing inside the World Tree, easily earn the trust of these astute individuals with just a few words?

They just wanted to quickly get some useful information from the monster.

”I think there’s no need for you to worry about that anymore.”

The monster spoke.

Its words even gave off a polite impression, but the voice was so strange and unpleasant, it made one’s skin crawl.

”Because I will never do those things again.” The monster spread its pitch-black arms, longer than its legs, and the eyes on those arms seemed to subconsciously open and close. ”Now I can completely control myself.”

”...What?” Xu Ying’s eyes trembled slightly. ”Were you really unable to control your mind before?”

This monster’s attacks came without warning every time.

Even in later collaborations, when they were perpetually on guard, they still had no solution. The creature always seemed to find the perfect opportunity to appear and strike suddenly.

Blood would flow like a river.

This is why, when Xu Xin saw the monster in front of him, he would have a feeling of impending doom.

This guy is a complete lunatic!

Fortunately, in the nearly twenty years before their team created a time machine and one operation led to a temporal collapse, this guy never appeared again.

So when Xu Ying saw this monster in Shi Wanyun’s memories, she truly felt shivers down her spine.

And now, this guy had appeared again suddenly, directly rekindling the team’s fear of this monster’s elusive antics.

Regarding the unpredictable behavior of this monster, the most widely accepted theory within the team back then was that this monster likely had a mental disorder, something akin to schizophrenia or even split personality.

However, this was never proven, because at that time, the monster didn’t speak human language, only communicating through its unnerving, eye-covered arms using sign language.

Moreover, when collaborating with their team, its attitude was truly very good. Though it was disgusted by humans’ appearance and didn’t frequently communicate with the humans in the team, its attitude was at least much better than other alien invaders.

And because of this, the first time it turned hostile, the team members could hardly believe it. The cruel acts it committed were things even other alien invaders wouldn’t do!

As for why it was friendly towards their team...

Xu Ying slightly turned her head.

”I am the forced offspring of Earth humans and Homeworld humans.” The monster began. ”Since birth, there has always been an anomaly in my brain. But now, it’s fine.”

The monster called the alien invaders Homeworld humans.

Perhaps in its view, the term ”human” in human language is a general term for intelligent creatures.

Those present were slightly perplexed by the current situation. They didn’t understand the monster and couldn’t hastily conclude anything, so they looked to Xu Ying.

Xu Ying’s gaze was complex at this moment: ”How did you cure your mental illness?”

”It’s what you were just discussing, the power of time and space,” the monster replied. ”I accelerated the aging and repair of a part of my brain, and thus, I am what I am now.”

”Xu... Ying, as you know, the normal me wouldn’t harm you.” The monster then looked at the people behind Xu Ying. ”It’s been a long time. No... You aren’t them. Only Xu Ying is.”

”...Your human language is quite good,” Xu Ying slowly lowered her gun.

”Thank you.” The monster grinned once more.

Temporarily trust it.

If what it says is true, that would be ideal...

Besides, even pointing a gun at it now, it’s probably futile.
