Starting Off Survival With A Small Treehouse

Chapter 1143 - 612: Monster in the Deep Sea

Within the World Tree, that night, Li Wenxi, who had returned with numerous miners from the underground world to rest, lay on her bed staring blankly at the ceiling.

After Xu Xin left, it took some time for the survivors inside the World Tree to fully accept the reality.

Fortunately, their living conditions had drastically improved, and no one was devastated by this shocking news.

Li Wenxi, too, had taken a group to the underground world for exploration and excavation in that area.

The survivors she took down were also astonished by the birds frozen in mid-air, as they truly believed Xu Xin’s accounts of the hundredfold time dilation.

And the mineral resources in the underground world were incredibly abundant.

Iron ore, silver ore, copper ore, gold ore, and even some rare metallic minerals, along with soil rich in rare metals.

Li Wenxi could only detect the locations of metallic minerals, but she felt that the resources in this underground world might be far more than what she saw.

”That underground world... is so rich,” Li Wenxi murmured to herself while lying in bed. ”Although the area affected by time dilation isn’t very large, it feels inexhaustible.”

Considering the population and industrial levels from a thousand years ago, the various metal materials contained in that area alone would suffice for the entire global population for decades without issue.

In the current context, it virtually amounts to a boundless and inexhaustible supply.

”It seems that for now, materials won’t be an issue to worry about.”

Li Wenxi turned over on the bed, hugging her pillow, her eyelids fluttering slightly.

”Really... I just got back, and I have to go out for a long time again...”

Before Xu Xin left, he had told her about the tasks for this external expedition.

What he needed to do was simple, and if things went smoothly, it could be done in less than half a day.

But he had to stay out there!

In half a day outside, two months would pass internally!

If she stayed in the World Tree all this time, it would really mean waiting for two months...

Perhaps she could choose to go outside during this period?

Ji Chaoyang had already explained their plans to everyone.

Some people were unwilling to leave the safe and comfortable World Tree.

In just half a month, the leisurely life in the World Tree had worn down the fearless spirit they had honed during life-and-death experiences.

But this was also understandable.

If one can live in peace and happiness, no one wishes to wander and endanger themselves.

After seeing the light, many were unwilling to return to darkness.

Of course, some expressed willingness to live outside, to guard the World Tree, and connect with the outside world.

The thoughts of these people coincided with what the explorers had considered at the time; they felt that, compared to the outside, staying inside meant aging faster.

Especially now, with over a hundred million humans outside.

Even though they had no interaction with those humans, they didn’t want to age more rapidly than them either.

Moreover, the safety level in Crystal City far exceeded their previous lives, so there was little need for concern for them.

As a result, a portion of people were already outside the World Tree.

”But... I have my own tasks that I must complete within the World Tree,” Li Wenxi buried her head in the pillow.

She was responsible for resource extraction, and only within the World Tree could she maximize production efficiency.

With the available resources not yet particularly abundant, greater power came with greater responsibility, and she was destined not to waste time outside.

”Sigh... I guess I’ll have to wait for a while.”

Li Wenxi sighed, turning over again to look at the ceiling.

”However, after finding Lou Fei’Er and the others, they probably won’t go directly to the underground world but return midway, right? At that time, let him stay in the World Tree for a few more days. After all, it’s only a few minutes outside.”

”Purr...?” Keke, perched on her bed, raised its small head and made a sound.

Li Wenxi tilted her head to look at the little creature who had been dozing off just then, ”Keke, why didn’t you go with Xu Xin this time?”

This little guy, for the first time, didn’t insist on going with Xu Xin, and not only did it not insist, but it even stayed far away.

So Xu Xin left the little creature here this time, and Li Wenxi brought it to her treehouse.

”Purr...” Keke’s two fluffy ears twitched, and its eyes blinked.

”Forget it, I can’t understand what you’re saying anyway.”

Li Wenxi lay on her side, reaching out to scratch its ears, her eyes increasingly unable to stay open.

She closed her tired eyes, murmuring, ”Since Xu Xin and the others left, it should have been... eight hours, right? Calculating the time, only... five minutes have passed outside? My god... it’s so hard to endure...”

”Tired, let’s take a nap. Sleep a bit... and another five minutes will have passed outside...”

...

Xu Xin and Xu Ying now were in District 1.

Even after traveling this far, Xu Xin hadn’t brought Silver King along.

With Xu Ying around, they could teleport anywhere and anytime, not needing Silver King for travel.

Not only Silver King, but he also didn’t bring some others along.

According to Xu Ying, bringing mutated creatures might very likely reveal their location to the enemy, and even Mimi and the others might get counter-controlled.
