Starting Off Survival With A Small Treehouse

Chapter 1124 - 605: Empty? (Part 2)

Xu Xin and Li Wenxi exchanged glances, both clearly seeing the shock in each other’s eyes.

This method... convenient and swift, simply unbeatable!

It’s like the nations on Earth a thousand years ago, planting their flags on a piece of land, declaring it their territory.

From then on, they didn’t have to do much, because that flag helped them occupy the land! Even the underground world was occupied too!

This is really...

”...Wait a minute, wait a minute, I remember you said before that the World Tree’s influence range is just a few hundred kilometers, right?” Li Wenxi suddenly asked.

”Well, normally it’s around five or six hundred kilometers in radius.” Xu Ying nodded.

”But between those ’support pillars’, there’s at least a two thousand kilometers distance.” Xu Xin pondered, ”Which means... there’s a large area between two World Trees that isn’t affected by them.”

”Bingo!” Xu Ying clapped her hands, ”That’s right, exactly!”

”Simply put, it’s similar to the safe zones around your little treehouse before; the area affected by the World Tree is the alien invaders’ ’safe zones,’ and the unaffected area is their ’danger zones.’

”And now, we are in the core territory of their ’danger zone,’ and chose to build Crystal City here because of this location.”

Xu Ying has explained very clearly.

”So that’s how it is...” Xu Xin murmured to himself.

From this perspective, perhaps all of them, the survivors, are in the ’danger zone’ unaffected by the World Tree.

Because the World Tree clearly affects the growth, ownership, and transplantation of the small treehouses.

To eliminate this factor, to select the survivors, they definitely wouldn’t choose to let the survivors play the survival game within the World Tree’s influence range.

Of course, it might also be because they don’t want the survivors, those ’insects,’ to get too close to them.

Whatever the reason, the current survivors are somewhat lucky, at least not under the control of the opponent’s World Tree.

”So, that means, there’s a World Tree within a thousand kilometers from us?” Li Wenxi asked at this moment, ”Well, that’s actually... not very far.”

About the same as the distance from the Imperial Capital to Shanghai on Earth a thousand years ago.

”There is.” Xu Ying nodded, ”But when we built Crystal City, they basically didn’t care much about this side.”

”Didn’t care? Why not?”

”Because those alien bastards mainly reside on the other half of the planet. That’s the place Shi Wanyun visited.”

Xu Ying squatted down and touched the ground, feeling the diminishing vibrations underfoot as she spoke: ”With the underground world so rich in resources, the number of alien invaders isn’t high, they don’t face population pressure, nor lack resources for survival research, so there’s no need to spend effort expanding to occupy large useless areas.”

Xu Xin was silent for a moment and said: ”But now... we can’t be so optimistic.”

They’ve already planted a World Tree here!

With this World Tree, they’ve gained their own territory, a power to challenge the other side.

Now this place must have become their key focus area.

”What if... the other side plants another World Tree around ours to restrict us?” Li Wenxi proposed a hypothesis, ”Will it compete with our World Tree for territory and affect us?”

”As far as I know, it won’t.” Xu Ying stood up and said, ”From what I know, the World Tree follows the principle of first come, first served. This area has already been occupied by our World Tree, and other World Trees cannot even grow on this land anymore, unless they ’parasite.’ This is the World Tree’s ’protection zone.’

”And if a new tree is planted outside the ’protection zone,’ according to the principle of ’first come, first served,’ the roots of the subsequently planted World Tree cannot extend here. At most, the ’protection zones’ of two World Trees will connect.”

As she spoke, she laughed, ”You should be quite familiar with this concept, it’s similar to your little treehouses, which are actually degraded versions of World Trees, essentially the same nature.”

Ah.

That’s really how it is.

But they still don’t understand the details.

After all, they only knew that the safety zones of the treehouses connected and there were no danger zones in this area at that time; who knew about the ’first come, first served’ principle and how the roots of the treehouses were distributed?

Xu Ying’s explanation indeed revealed many details to the two.

”The vibrations have stopped.” Xu Ying’s lips curled into a smile, ”Now, this area is our territory!”

”What about those giant beasts?” Xu Xin asked.

”If they dare to attack us, we’ll just kill them!”

Saying this, Xu Ying waved her hand upward.

Instantly, a thick, sharp-tipped root emerged from the ground!

This sturdy root could indeed cause significant damage to the giant beasts!

”Ah!” Li Wenxi exclaimed, mouth open wide, ”You can control those roots!”

”Hehe, that’s right! My brother can too.”

Xu Xin was already trying.

”Crack!”

A thick root emerged from the soil following his thoughts!
