Starting Off Survival With A Small Treehouse

Chapter 1140 - 611: The Truth Revealed to All

”I’ve been keeping it from them, worrying that during these unstable times, they might entertain thoughts of venturing outside.”

Ji Chaoyang walked to the window, gazing at the other survivors not far away, who seemed remarkably at ease.

These survivors now have no desire to leave.

”But now, I think it’s time to tell them,” Ji Chaoyang turned back and said, ”I believe it’s necessary for someone to be stationed outside the World Tree. We inside cannot consistently know the conditions outside.”

Xu Xin nodded slightly.

Although the control room in the underground space of the World Tree can observe the surrounding scenes, it’s only possible from there. To observe the surroundings, one must go down first.

Like now, everyone inside is completely clueless about the outside situation.

Unless they go down to the underground space or directly outside.

”Actually, there’s another way,” Xu Xin proposed his suggestion, ”We can treat the control console in the underground space as a surveillance room, where people can work in shifts 24 hours a day.”

He glanced at Xu Ying beside him, ”Would that work?”

Xu Ying nodded, ”Of course, that’s what we’ve been doing before. If it’s this World Tree, it will be even easier. After all, the external time flows so slowly; if something happens, unless one is blind, it’s impossible not to notice.”

”I’ve asked Xu Ying about this as well,” Ji Chaoyang smiled slightly, ”This definitely needs to be done, monitoring the movements around the World Tree is necessary. But I also think someone should live outside, solving the issue I mentioned earlier.”

”You mean... letting those who want to live outside go out,” Xu Xin thought briefly.

”Yes, that’s the idea.” Ji Chaoyang looked out the window again, ”We haven’t told them the situation yet, but once we start bringing in more survivors, they will inevitably learn about it.”

”That should take some time, don’t you think? If Xu Ying doesn’t step in, it’ll take a few days for them to arrive, and internally, a year might already have passed,” Zhao Xiaochuan leaned back on the sofa, ”Even if Xu Ying intervenes, it won’t be today. The underground conditions aren’t sorted yet; it’ll take a day, which is a hundred days inside.”

He reclined lazily, ”Why rush? I just want to clear my mind...”

”You’ve been emptying your mind for over half a month, isn’t that enough?” Qin Yunlong grumbled and pulled him up.

”Enough? I want a two-month long vacation!”

Zhao Xiaochuan yelled.

”It’s boring enough that I’m dying of it...” Zeng Tao said weakly, resting her chin with her hand.

Zhao Xiaochuan sat up straight, ”Just joking, but indeed, it might not matter. Whether inside or outside, we live just as long. It’s so safe here; anyone who wants to make trouble has truly no conscience.”

The others nodded in agreement.

Wen Guixin sneered, ”If anyone isn’t satisfied, let them go outside. Always causing trouble, right?”

Ji Chaoyang shook his head helplessly, ”You can’t just think from your own standpoint. We will eventually need to absorb a large amount of humans; some issues and plans must be thought out properly in advance. Otherwise, changing things later will be troublesome.”

Xu Xin seemed to understand, rubbing his chin, ”You mean outsiders will influence others’ mindset when they come in.”

”Yes. If it’s just us, it might not matter. But if outsiders join and they make comparisons...” Ji Chaoyang paused, ”Especially if there are acquaintances from the regional channel...”

... That would surely be uncomfortable, wouldn’t it? It’s like watching one’s familiar people age by a year.

”And most importantly, they still don’t know the truth about this world,” Ji Chaoyang said seriously, ”To them, this is just another world where their family and friends await their return. Even if they can’t return, they hold onto that hope. The hundredfold time flow, in their minds, equates to their family and friends aging a hundred times faster.”

Ji Chaoyang looked at everyone.

”That’s why I want to tell you that we should reveal the truth to them.”

Everyone fell into a slight silence.

During the half-month when Xu Xin was away, they had discussed whether to reveal the world’s truth to these people.

But it ultimately came to nothing.

As Ji Chaoyang said, even if they knew they probably can’t return, they would still hold onto the thought for their families and friends.

Informing them about this would directly sever their wishful thoughts, which would be painful, and some might even refuse to believe it.

But if they keep it from them and the time flow issue is exposed, it would cause chaos.

”Ah... on this point, you really should tell them,” Xu Ying raised her hand, ”Once I bring up the people from the underground, such things can’t be hidden.”
